Big Apple Story

A Film by Steve Siegel and Phil Buehler. BIG APPLE STORY is a surrealist nightmarish depiction of New York City's fiscal crisis of the 1970s.-- when the City was teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. The film chronicles the journey of a Big Apple-- a 6-foot piece of fruit. Along the way, Big Apple wanders onto the set of a TV game show, where it is forced to choose between prizes behind Door #1 and Door #2. Unfortunately, Big Apple's experience as a game show contestant is not fruitful, and our hero returns to the streets in pitiful condition. To reveal any more would lessen the (ap)peal of this ripe and juicy tale of intrigue.

The shot of the old railroad tracks with the World Trade Center in the distance is just brilliant and it typifies New York back in the 80's.. Old abandoned buildings long forgotten, lying rotten In the shadow of the big shiny new towers of a bustling Manhattan..
