Not a Nebraska fan, but I’ve been saying I wouldn’t sleep on Northwestern. I don’t think northwestern will be a title contender at all for the B1G, but everyone is doubting them a bit. Nebraska is just overhyped. I think they’ll still be competitive but I think this said a lot more about northwestern, even though we see Nebraska special teams is still bad 😂😂

@@Callsmit I don't think he can even utter a word remotely related to that now. The only players that didn't show up this game were on defense, but we wouldn't have needed it if there wasn't a deflating onside kick in the 3rd quarter

This was the most involved crowd I've ever seen at an international football game. Normally when a CFB or NFL game is played overseas the crowd is just "meh" and doesn't really seem to be that interested. Not the case today. I kept having to remind myself that this was being played in Ireland because the crowd seemed like a normal CFB crowd. Great job.
I'm skeptical that Fox wasn't pumping in artificial crowd noise, as they are known to do. Remember all the roaring crowds in empty stadiums in 2020 during Fox broadcasts?

Probably because of the huge turnout by husker fans. Much more than was initially expected I think
I honestly feel bad for the Nebraska folks. They probably paid an arm and a leg to fly overseas just for their team to break their hearts again.

Get a head start and begin looking for Frost's replacement tonight. NEB outplayed NW in the first half. NW outcoached and played better than NEB in the 2nd half.

@Dennis Coffman that’s definitely true Casey had a wide open TD that would’ve won them the game but he overthrew it. Ultimately tho if they stop Northwestern on the onside kick drive they win by 4 even with all of the sputters.
@Dennis Coffman true i feel you man he looked unstoppable in the first half but idk what happened in the second half. I think he will get better as the year progresses he just needs to stay consistent throughout the game
@Dennis Coffman I think the onside kick plus the 3 play td drive took any confidence out of our offense, until that point he had 300 yards with 25 minutes left in the game
@Dennis Coffman I think I agree with one of the Nebraska YTers and just hand the reigns over to Whipple, he seems competent. I will have to see the Oklahoma game to really decide, Frost has never done well on season openers, so hopefully they come prepared and don't leave receivers open enough to pitch a tent waiting for a defender to tackle them.
@Dennis Coffman We just need an average defense to have a chance. This defense was the worst I've seen, these aren't NFL draft prospects and they were wide open and their running game was devastating.
Very enjoyable game to watch. I'm not a fan of either team but what did Stand Out was the quarterback and wideout play from both teams. Either that or both teams secondaries suck.
Fun fact: the stadium payments system crashed so they decided to serve free beer to the fans

Yes it was AMAZING!!! I live in Dublin myself and watched the game from the beginning to the gripping end even though I do not fully understand all the rules of the game. Very happy for the underdogs northwestern but very sorry for Nebraska because so many of their supporters travelled here and brought such a great atmosphere to the city. Long may this continue in ireland!!!

Like in the US, many here still call soccer "soccer". In England though, soccer is always called "football". But I agree, after yesterday's great game, I am a new convert American college football.

people are whores. If it had worked, few would have called him on it even though it is a statistically stupid play. Saban did it with 10 minutes left against Clem while tied 24-24. It worked and few have ever called him out.

Thompson looks great here, but lets not forget he wasnt doing this against big 12 nor SEC competition. Says a lot to how much of a difference conference play makes.

The head coach ultimately decided. It was still early in the game. A bad decision but he wanted to catch Northwestern off guard and blow the game open, not the other way around. These guys make way too much money to try to fix a game with too many variables to be fixed.
