Art Of Gardening: Pam Gordon

- Gardening on Hornby Island has always been a big part of peoples' lives and the culture of being in nature. From ornamental gardens to food forests, Hornby residents do it all. They also love sharing the joy their garden brings which is why we decided to showcase a handful of gardens in 2021 as a response to access limitations due to COVID-19.
Carrying the wisdom of generations of farmers, in 1977 Pam and Jim started a life on Hornby Island by cultivating the land and growing food. Islanders would come to visit their farm, and "we dug their potatoes and whatever they wanted right while they waited." Pam has never owned a driver's licence, her dancing is a joy to all, and her kindness with children, animals, and our community describes the virtues to which islanders aspire.

Proud to say this is my Grandma. What a simple yet captivating existence. I like to think she captures the essence of life.
Very lucky you!
How lucky you are to have such a sweet, hardworking Grandma! She is adorable!
Yes, she does❤ I was just thinking that😊
Hi Keegan, please tell your Grandma she is wonderful! Beautiful and inspiring! Would love more videos of her garden and did someone say she likes to dance too! Such a radiant spirit! Save some veggies for me; I may show up some day! Here's a rose for your Grandma 🌹
I'd love to tour her garden with her 😍
What a fascinating woman...I would love to just sit and listen to her stories all day!
The glory of her calm, deep, soil-enchanted heart…her feet and hands in the earth, honest and true…the rare soul of a true earth artist…thank you for sharing this inspirational glimpse into a beautiful person.
'and now its just me and the sheep... ' this touched me.
Me to.
Our family well remembers many years of going down to the Gordon’s garden to buy fresh fruit and veg, hear Jim playing piano, have lots of discussions about the garden, and also for our daughter to take riding lessons with Pam. A magical place and special people. Thanks for this lovely video.
That was sheer delight, through and through
I lived on Hornby for many years and the Gordon’s were the best, good produce and good advice.
Simply Beautiful! Love this gorgeous woman. God bless you.
I am 61 now and I remember my Grandmother. She always gathered food from our land at that time in the Far East. She's no longer here but your Grandma reminds me of those flowers and greeneries. Thank you, Keegan.
Just dig!!
I wanna ride horses with Pam Gordon and Ron Finley.
Beautiful video!

So beautifully done. What a lovely story to have captured in its essence.
A visual feast and a window into a very special person’s life. It was always a magical treat to enter into their amazing magical garden and wander into a world that looked so natural but you knew it took many years of loving work. The veggies always tasted so good. Creative and well produced as you captured Pam’s earthly essence and much more, thank you.
Thank you for this film. She is a master.

What a beautiful soul. So gracious and charming. Feet planted firmly on that life giving land. Who needs motivational speakers when this wise woman cradles life's most valuable lessons in those magnificent hands that continue to nurture the gifts from her garden. Absolutely inspirational.
Beautifully spoken Jeanette 💖
Absolutely brilliant - what a beautiful piece of work.
So fun to see and I wish my son Inigo & I could come and visit ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is such a beautiful piece, and such amazing inspiration. I am just starting out with our land, along permaculture principles. But I have no experience as a gardener, and capturing the wisdom of people who have such wisdom and experience is so precious. Is there any more videos of Pam speaking? I would love to watch more!!
Wonderful
Lovely!💛💛💛
The land and what we make of it is a joy to a gardener.
I love the simplicity of living off the land, no matter the size, but I envy the freedom of leaving the city, working towards that freedom.
Very Beautiful!
What a magical marvelous woman! I love the wildness of her garden and spirit,
Jim.the.man😊
INCREDIBLE! Wow. Great videography and a great story!
God bless you, grandma
Before I saw any movie adaptation of the Lord of the Rings, I went to the Gordon farm. Jim matched my notion of what Gandalf would look like. The garden that he and Pam kept was most certainly magic. Good magic. Pam is absolutely right about the quality of the food they grew. Superb! Thank you Pam! I miss Jim, but I thank him too! Wonderful video! Thank you!
Linda história
Such a pretty fresh face...full of light n hope!! Luvd watching her
wow spectacular
Lovely woman.
I love seeing Pam, her animal friends and her wonderful garden. Pam is a beautiful soul; radiantly full of light and life! I happened to stumble upon this from Arizona and and am so happy I did. I wish I could visit, but if not, am glad I experienced it through Pam. Perhaps you will create more videos in 2022 and beyond. Would enjoy seeing more details of Pam and her place! With many returning to live in more natural settings now, I'm sure your garden series would be very popular! Thank you for inspiring me today and reminding me of the childhood gardens my Mom and Dad planted for our family growing up in Michigan. It's time to get my hands back in the dirt... 💖🙏🏼
I love this lady,love her story💗
She is amazing.
oh, I love this so much. Well done Zsofin! And Pam is so articulate and lovely to listen to.
❤
Beautiful and inspiring. Lovely photography. But, its funny how the school complained. Where are they now. What was the point? I bet all her kids are fine, and better for their experiences. I had now better get back into my garden. Or my painting.
Somehow I am linked to Hornby island but I can’t remember how...
❤🤌🪴
LOOOVE THAT, cooked myself a coffee, eated cherry cake, and ENJOY. Everybody wants to live like that. In my eyes. Thank so much for this joy
