Great performance of Hummer, brilliant song, brilliant band. I miss the times from Gish through Siamese Dream and Pisces Iscariot, best years for sure..
when gish came out he was the greatest guitarist ever, not hendrix, page, van hallen, or the cast of shredder guitarist have done what he did, he made an album that had no mistakes, every song was great, not one weak ling, and filled with soul and dynamics, what hendrix and page did was create a monster, i have never heard a guitar player tear the frame out of guitar with bends from deep space, to bad he doesnt write as strong material now
@@uzumaki6759 the fucked up thing is all those guitarists he named have/had an ego too. its just the 90s were all about being underground and "core" and billy spit in that shits face. he wanted to be a rock god and be one of a kind doing it. i say he succeeded
Whoa. I agree. I think his pursuit for great and clever unexpected styles of songwriting... which obviously started on McIS just kinda took over his brain.... I also wish they'd go back to the looser jammier gish kinda vibe
Damn, they were so good here, at their peak. This era was so fleeting. The live sound so powerful, that crunch in the wall of guitars, soaring solos, Corgan singing like his life depended on it. I miss this band.
Along with Nirvana's In Utero and Doolittle by Pixies, Soundgarden's Superunknown, and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, still the finest album to have ever emerged from American late 80s or 90s alt rock.
I got this DVD over the summer a few years ago. For anyone who hasn't seen the whole show, you have to watch it. They are the best Pumpkins videos out there.
This is my favorite pumpkins tune. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. This is always a sign of great art. But great Rock n Roll is more than great art- it is pure life set on fire and burning like a firecracker sweeping across a purple night sky and exploding in a glorious single snap of the snare drum and then fading back into nothingness. Do you feel love is real?
@MancKev They honestly just knew how to make music that moved you. I feel in love with them as soon as gish came out. It's amazing how certain bands just "Have it", and my god they were one.
cheers man, exactly what I thought too, I was suprised I couldn't find them on here to be honest, i have another 2 on here now, couple more will be going on later.
Could possibly be my all time favorite SP song. Just wish the cellist would've used a regular acoustic cello and not the bumble bee sounding electric cello.
too bad the cellist isn't playing a traditional acoustic cello, its would've sounded so much better, not that bumble bee sound he's getting from the electric one. Other than that, this could be the my favorite live version of what could be my favorite SP song, "Hummer" .
man I fuckin love the smashing pumpkins but it cracks me up that billy couldn't let the lead guitarist play the lead parts when he wasnt singing and just be a normal frontman. a genius for sure but as egotistical as they come!
Nah its just 2 guitarist, just that the one who plays the majority of the lead work is also the vocalist. He also wrote it all and is 800 times better than James Iha so in the interest of it all sounding the best it can then it makes perfect sense.
This is a good performance, they notoriously sucked live, love 'em though, my fav from back in the day. Where did the time go I feel like I was just jamming this on my guitar!

Michael P. Sammut 4 years late, but amen
Yeah. But the reason he's underrated is because he's too ego. He will get his head too far up his butt when people praises him and that just sucks

the problem started after he started dressing like a Priest
Whoa. I agree. I think his pursuit for great and clever unexpected styles of songwriting... which obviously started on McIS just kinda took over his brain.... I also wish they'd go back to the looser jammier gish kinda vibe
this music moves you in a way not many bands can
@Jason B siamese dream is one hell of a record.
Damn, they were so good here, at their peak. This era was so fleeting. The live sound so powerful, that crunch in the wall of guitars, soaring solos, Corgan singing like his life depended on it. I miss this band.
1994, I miss you. come back & all the great music.
Billy is such a phenomenal guitar player
The sounds he can make, the way he improvs
He truly is a musical genius
unbeliveable,
I am learning to play Hummer at the mo! Makes you sick seein Billy playin and singing as though its second nature! respect!!!
Along with Nirvana's In Utero and Doolittle by Pixies, Soundgarden's Superunknown, and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, still the finest album to have ever emerged from American late 80s or 90s alt rock.
Siamese Dream > All
Dylan H Siamese Dream + Gish > all
Blues for the red sun
still a great guitarist is a great guitarist...I've learned Beck, Hendrix, Page, hundreds more...Billy C...right there...
Mikey Mumbles you're on point. Corgan is one of the best guitarists of his generation.
Definitely one of the all time greats without question
Corgan is imo the most underrated guitar player of all time. The musicianship on Siamese Dream alone is some of the best ever recorded.
@@TrinidadJamesWoods preach my man. he actually reached for something higher with his playing and vision. truely a guitar god
I love when i hear a different verrsion of a smashing pumpkins song for the first time and it gives me chills and goosebumbs

what is the DVD?
God how I miss the Siamese Dream days....
Brings me to another realm.
God they new how to make "feel good" music! My favorite band of the 90's era.
Hummer with a Cello accompaniment is just really special. And in peak first era Pumpkins form.
This is fucking beautiful
My best song of all time!
Shame it's not had too many views for how long it's been up. Love this, fave SP song.
Music like this is timeless
Life's a bummer for one person.
2:37 How good do you think that scream felt?

@MancKev They honestly just knew how to make music that moved you. I feel in love with them as soon as gish came out. It's amazing how certain bands just "Have it", and my god they were one.
This is, simply, fucking fantastic.
indeed soma... siamese dream was so brilliant and touching..
awesome performance of a tremendous song
Nice!
The electric cello thing is fine by me. The song is called "Hummer," after all. Interesting tone.
Love this! Sweaty Billy 😍❤️
this is just amazing.
D'arcy Wretzky 🥰
LOVEEEEEE IS REAL
thank you for posting these. Hummer was simply stunning, now i need to watch Geek USA and the pumpkins best song imo soma
One of those great bads that defined the nineties and in Siamese Dream refined themselves (theough they had great material before and after that)
Still Wow
Yeah!!!!! Excelente banda...
Life's a bummer
When you're a hummer
3:06
i want D'Arcy cam only
cheers man, exactly what I thought too, I was suprised I couldn't find them on here to be honest, i have another 2 on here now, couple more will be going on later.
shameful they don’t play this live anymore. free Jimmy
WOW
godly tone
Man, watching this makes me sad.... Saw the pumpkins live a couple of weeks ago, its just not the same.
Agreed too!!
wow
I'd kill to get that guitar sound
love the bumblebee sounds lmao
Could possibly be my all time favorite SP song. Just wish the cellist would've used a regular acoustic cello and not the bumble bee sounding electric cello.
Didn't know Chris Cornell played Cello. RIP
yeah man just another 2, Soma and Geek U.S.A, they are in my video list
@mudbassfan
Agreed. It's when the greatest band in the history of the universe was at their best.
fucking
haha kevin eubanks! gotta love tht dooode :] O and billy corgan is a beast!
@MancKev he is the guitarrist...
he may look different, but it's him...
Peak
Bridge in korn freak on a leash sounds very similar to intro chords
best song in the whole CD, too bad its the only one i have lost. :S.
@Tool19781 Agreed!!!
@poly800rock yeah, same!
Anyone here in 2019 ?
Yes. 😃
Soma has to be my best too..closely followed by Snail
@GutoEstranho
Yes I know he is there..I was asking the other guy that commented if he was high because clearly Iha is there..I knew this man =)
@Colthrone The solo in Zero and that's about it.
1 dislike? really? that person must be a Bush fan.
2:39 - RElease the kraken!!!!
Love this version like a fat kid loves pie
Tuuune
@MancKev maybe it's because james dyed his hair, you can see blonde highlights in this.
billy was starting gettin bald :P Nice performance by the pumpkins as ever
He started to get bald at a pretty young age really when you think about it. Poor Billy
Iha is there....are you high?
i just noticed something.
tom smith out of the editors copied billy's hairstyle in this vid .
is that really where this originates from? that's cool, I just don't understand why the lol about it?!
@TaKeItLiKaMaN cherub rock, today,1979, lololol what about like their classics?
too bad the cellist isn't playing a traditional acoustic cello, its would've sounded so much better, not that bumble bee sound he's getting from the electric one.
Other than that, this could be the my favorite live version of what could be my favorite SP song, "Hummer" .
@rgeraghty24
I can answer that,in two words: Britney Spears
how can you not tell it's Iha lol
so obvious
Turn back or you will turn into ash
jimmy's brilliance is evidenced by one snare drum hit at 4:41. the sad truth:
the pumpkins are worthless without him.
man I fuckin love the smashing pumpkins but it cracks me up that billy couldn't let the lead guitarist play the lead parts when he wasnt singing and just be a normal frontman. a genius for sure but as egotistical as they come!
billy is lead guitar, billy has always been lead guitar on all albums. james is rhythm
Yeah Billy was lead guitar live and in studio lol
Nah its just 2 guitarist, just that the one who plays the majority of the lead work is also the vocalist. He also wrote it all and is 800 times better than James Iha so in the interest of it all sounding the best it can then it makes perfect sense.
This is a good performance, they notoriously sucked live, love 'em though, my fav from back in the day. Where did the time go I feel like I was just jamming this on my guitar!
that violin thingy totally ruined soma
Cello bad. Sounds like an arse ZX Spectrum synth doing an impression of a fly.
he looks like gerard way
i love the Pumpkins. i prefer the Corgan with hair years...
