Malcolm Beverly He got super famous I think that’s credit enough honestly. I know guitarists and songwriters better than Billy who aren’t famous. Everyone’s standards are different though so it’s okay, is what it is
Cole Ryland for sure, I doubt he’s unhappy with his life or anything. I just personally think he should get more credit for his actually skill. But at the end of the day, like you said, he’s already gotten plenty of credit.
There was that Zeppelin over the festival, with Björk on it, and the Afghan Whigs made a joke about that. 25 years of that festival. morphine still existed...
You just can't replace jimmy chamberlain he is a fucking beast, mayonaise holy shit he is amazing live and in studio, my favorite drummer of all time hands down.
+RENEGADE NEWS NETWORK thats not the correct answer . The engineering of the time to provide the sound was really special - fresh - not overdubbed or upgraded or shiny as it is today - it was perfect with its unperfectness that u rarely find nowadays . I lived those years full on and was at this fucking awesome concert in Holland . The best they were able to give . They had a dirty heavy live sound like nobody could come close to . Tool was very dirty too live back in 93 when i first saw them in Belgium . It was very wild , raw , sharp as hell , but so so so so so good to live and experience . Take the sound a band like Kyuss had - i really could feel your body shake by the monstrous guitar sounds they wanted . It was unbelievably loud and heavy , yet so good to experience .
That's because he *was* a jazz drummer before SP, SP just let his inner beast out of its cage. XD Corgan even said when he first met him, "He was wearing a pink t-shirt, stonewashed jeans, he had a mullet haircut, and he was driving a 280Z, and had yellow drums. We were sort of looking each other in the eye thinking, 'This ain't gonna happen, this is not the guy.' [But] he'd learned all our songs, as only Jimmy can, off the top of his head, and, within one practice, we were ready to play. It was amazing. We just knew right away. He's that good." And any drummer who knows how difficult this song is at recorded tempo knows how good he is listening to him play it live 5X faster.
talk about being on top of your fucking game...sweet lord, billy is like a drunk air traffic controller, but his secret is he always has to be drunk...you have no idea how he does it but every plane lands safely and on time. precision, directed from afar.
they play geek use so fast! i'm listening to sp and particularly siamese dream for the first time in over ten years. I forgot how f*cking much they rock
Geek USA played at double-speed!!! Dude can the cameramen be any worse he kept zooming in on the wrong guitar while Billy was doing amazing shit and when Jimmy was flying on the drums!
Dexter Rosales Yeah...such a popular notion theese days. However, phones are kind of "the new lighter", and alot of artist like the lights. Secondly, youtube would be boring without them, alot of people would have missed out of some great bootlegs if it wasn´t for the phones. Some bootlegs are actually quite usable. The most important thing though, people should do what feels right for them. I have absolutely no understanding why alot of people choose to get annoyed by this. Don´t worry, be happy :)
@Paul Clements: Exactly, you go to see them live for the experience of being there live, standing their watching it through a 3 inch screen ruins the experience, plus a lot of couple's have met at concerts and nobody wants to talk to a person who is filming as they look unapproachable. You get people defending the iphone people saying "they want to remember it", does everyone have short term memories or something these days, I'm sure the people who got to see the Beatles in the 60s remember seeing them live, fucking bullshit, also what is the need to record the entire fucking concert, do these people really sit back and watch the whole thing, I'd rather watch a concert back that was professionally filmed. I hate this new generation (and I'm sad to be a part of it).
So glad this exists. Interestingly enough there's actually a crowd recording of this show (among numerous crowd recordings/professional recordings of SP shows) that I found on archive.org and doesn't sound as nearly as good.
Hummer just sounds so pretty. Disarm makes me so happy to hear the crowd sing along. The Smashinng Pumpkins are one of the greatest bands in music history. Thank you for posting this.
I agree that D'Arcy was more of an image, but James definitely contributed a lot to the pumpkins. He wrote parts of Mayonaise and Soma - two of the best songs the pumpkins ever played. The pumpkins will always be the pumpkins as long as Billy's around.
The only band who has the power to make me cry.. you are the best fucking band ever!!! I love you, guys! wishing for a reunion for the original members! I wonder where James Iha is now and D'arcy..
I was 4 back then and not into music at all I think.. Thank God for this band and ppl in the crowd who were there and ones that recorded this show, this is too beautiful ;_;
Darren Brown He shreds to much. I'm not that huge of a fan of the super technical solos he does. I'd rather listen to Iha playing it, just feels more natural. To each it's own, I guess.
This was around the time record stores still sold cassettes and cds. First CD I ever bought was Mellon Collie age 11. Lost it over the years then bought it again. Now cds are useless but today's music is garbage compared to this.
Cd's are not useless , neither tapes or vinyl - its you who dont see those supports as valuable - u are digital now , not natural . How do u feel now being synthetically digitalized with a cellphone attached to your ear ?
+reffoelcnu alouncelal I never bring my mobile to a concert. is so stupid, you are going there to have an experience, if you want to record it, buy the bluray, or watch it on youtube later.
The guitar Billy is using during Geek USA is the guitar that he used to record Mayonnaise, the guitar signifys the squeal during verses in Mayonnaise because the guitar was so cheap.
I think Hummer is the greatest song ever written, just so beautiful!
There's sex, there's drugs and then there's writing 'Disarm' and having the whole crowd sing it back to you. What a fucking amazing high that must be!
i fully agree what an amazing moment to have your song sung back to you greatest band of the 90s
except they keep going early
Billy Corgan: love him or hate him, but he definately is one of the most underrated guitarists of our time
underrated ? not a chance. he gets all the credit he deserves and then some.
@@kristopherryan4073 as a writer? yes he does get all the credit, but as a guitarist alone, hes underrated
Felix T-Rex James too. Both very innovative and smart guitarists.
Disarm makes me cry, Hummer makes me happy and nostalgic and Geek USA makes me rock out
Exactly! All the feels on that one album.
Album was an absolute masterpiece. It was my sanctuary for many years.
Was there. Best festival in my life. 1994.
There was that Zeppelin over the festival, with Björk on it, and the Afghan Whigs made a joke about that. 25 years of that festival. morphine still existed...
RIP Mark Sandman
Jimmy Chamberlain is a cartoon octopus playing drums. The guy was absolutely incredible.
Still is
He went nuts on this one
I need dat 90’s billy corgan skin care routine
90s video edits lol
90s video quality wasn't very good. Don't get baited by it.
im pretty sure its just genetics
You just can't replace jimmy chamberlain he is a fucking beast, mayonaise holy shit he is amazing live and in studio, my favorite drummer of all time hands down.
Tim Purcell Mayonnaise is Geek USA here...
+56madguy yeh I saw that
+Tim Purcell he was hugely strong - a real rare beast . His speed was probably unique .
+Tim Purcell geek usa bt still unreplaceable in my book
Pre bald Billy is good Billy.
Adore = being bald
Wish I was alive to see this live
That's a fucking Rock show.. they were a great band at that time.. songs were immense
David Fox they still are a great band...
Jon Kopp just saw them last week in cincy, and they were incredible. Billy and Jimmy are still making amazing music.
i was there too!!
exact;ly - Jimmy is a great jazz drummer and had side projects for years
@@jonkopp74 Agreed. I really liked their 2018 album
This right here exemplifies why the 90's were such a great time for rock!
The crowd singing along to "Disarm" warms my cold cold heart
Jimmy is a maniac on those drums, ahhh.
+Amanda Laggan LOL Hi der
+Rafael Solis hola rafiki!
+Amanda Laggan I now stalk you on youtube.
Look at all us Billy shittalkers secretly watching his videos, ha.
Agreed.
life's a bummmer
when you're a hummer
life's a dra-a-ag!
Truly fucking amazing how fast they could play geek usa. And then break the song down into a beautiful piece.
I can't believe how tight their sound was live
+KipKasper No magic music box back then ;) If you did not grow up in the 90s ...well i,m sorry ...
+RENEGADE NEWS NETWORK thats not the correct answer . Jean-michel Cornil Lucky Bastard !!
+Jean-michel Cornil There are still bands like this. Django Django is really awesome live with their guitars.
Eric Cartman clever
3:43 I still do that, even 20+ years after Siamese Dream's release.
Love how Jimmy is such a hard hitter and then can switch it up and play w finesse and be light as a feather and play jazz grooves.
He is a sophisticated drummer! I haven't found anyone like him.
That's because he *was* a jazz drummer before SP, SP just let his inner beast out of its cage. XD Corgan even said when he first met him, "He was wearing a pink t-shirt, stonewashed jeans, he had a mullet haircut, and he was driving a 280Z, and had yellow drums. just here to watch D'Arcy
talk about being on top of your fucking game...sweet lord, billy is like a drunk air traffic controller, but his secret is he always has to be drunk...you have no idea how he does it but every plane lands safely and on time. precision, directed from afar.
Adam Coe great comment!
Billy holding back tears at 1:12 ish is among the most heartwarming things I've ever seen.
I love the way James dances with his guitar.
they play geek use so fast!
i'm listening to sp and particularly siamese dream for the first time in over ten years. I forgot how f*cking much they rock
i just realized this is almost TWENTY YEARS AGO! and still dope as fuck. holy crap i'm old.
Got this at 21 and now 48 in 2021 and ONLY this older music as this is the clear choice!#SP🎸🔥✨🤘🏻
Now it’s almost 30 years ago
i was at that freaking amzing show ! damn great concert it was ! I was 27 years old ! gold days of rock
-first concert when i was 13 -awesome!
-hahaha! -ok if 30 is old to you -right on
Perfect performance
hummer is probably my favorite SP song
That tempo for Geek USA.....
I love billy's teeth.....great show..like a sea of people
i know this is cheesy, but thumbs up if you got the chills during the first 2 minutes of the video......
EPIC! James and Billy tearing it up at the end of Geek USA gave me chills.
bass player looks high fashion
7:06 the two grunge girls bobbing their heads at the same time...what a shot
Einer der besten Auftritte EVER !!! Oldschool, a part of my life, i'm on a journey again.....Beam me back Scotty !!!
Geek USA played at double-speed!!! Dude can the cameramen be any worse he kept zooming in on the wrong guitar while Billy was doing amazing shit and when Jimmy was flying on the drums!
Crowd is so much better without iphones.
Dexter Rosales What is the point to record a show with a phone? Bad sound, bad footage and you lost the moment forever!
Dexter Rosales Yeah...such a popular notion theese days. However, phones are kind of "the new lighter", and alot of artist like the lights. the music is better without computers also.
Amen
Each member like talking in their head "I doing my job very well and let's blend into best performance ever".
So glad this exists. Interestingly enough there's actually a crowd recording of this show (among numerous crowd recordings/professional recordings of SP shows) that I found on archive.org and doesn't sound as nearly as good.
Darcy never breaks character always calm cool and collected LOL love it
what if i told you SP were my favorite band and it still took me 25 years to figure out what he says in the chorus?
which song, there were about 3 or 4 of them
Jared I would say it was HIGH time you get a lyrics sheet-pronto!
best smashing pumpkins show of all time. there is so much emotion when he is singing disarm here
I remember hearing this for the first time. Begged the person to borrow the CASSETTE they just bought. They finally gave in 😎
Man Billy and James had great chemistry. Suck a major influence on my musical life.
Ahem... You mean such.
I really was lucky to be a teenager in the mid nineties.
Songs and singer second to none.
I was at that show. Thank you for letting me relive that magical day !
So young. So gorgeous.
About the same age as Smashing Pumpkins band members, days when we thought we'd live forever and could never die...oh those were heady days of yore...
the happy face sticker on Darcy's bass gave me chills.
Hummer just sounds so pretty. Disarm makes me so happy to hear the crowd sing along. The Smashinng Pumpkins are one of the greatest bands in music history. Thank you for posting this.
1994....... The year D'arcy was cute.......... Need I say more?.....
And Soma. One of the greatest Pumpkins songs ever.
3:45 guy on the left: i must rock hard for the pumpkins
I agree that D'Arcy was more of an image, but James definitely contributed a lot to the pumpkins. He wrote parts of Mayonaise and Soma - two of the best songs the pumpkins ever played. The pumpkins will always be the pumpkins as long as Billy's around.
hey, she was more than an image. she was a vibe. ;)
she was talented too, its sad people try to take away her contributions live
I don’t think I’ve heard this since the day it came out. That was really fuckkking nice. Sincerely.
ahhhh such a good song . only started listening to smashing pumpkins this year 😂
The only band who has the power to make me cry..
you are the best fucking band ever!!! I love you, guys! wishing for a reunion for the original members! I wonder where James Iha is now and D'arcy..
D'arcy? If she is still how she was when she called into the radio station and the most recent mug shots, not good...
swilkins1984 really?! sad to hear that..
Yeah, D'arcy is pretty messed up. Irreparably so. Coke and facial cosmetic surgery: not even once.
I know..too bad.
Tempest Rider tonight tonight is beautifull
I was 4 back then and not into music at all I think.. Thank God for this band and ppl in the crowd who were there and ones that recorded this show, this is too beautiful ;_;
Great songs but last part of Geek USA is my favorite, some heavy shit right there lol Corgan is genius
Cant wait for this reunion tour
this geek usa is so raw and amazing
Disarm one of my favorite songs
fucking amazing!!!! almos cry watching this video, for me the best album of the 90's, the Siamese Dream. thanks for this video!!
those harmonizing chords around 3:27 are out of this world
I miss Iha
Well
I have a special spot in my heart for smashing pumpkins for sure, anyone nineties does.
I really wish I took the time to see them live
TheNinjaPicker saw them twice on MCATUS tour...pretty awesome!
Saw them on the Mellon Collie tour twice...first set was acoustic n 2 set was electric...in a small theater in NYC was 3 rows back...amazing show.
Now you can. Shiny and oh so bright here I come
they are apparantly gonna play geek usa alot more this oceania tour, ITS GONNA ROCK
Humbled and awed.
live versions of disarm...so raw
Best fucking drummer ever
James could play Billy's solos and licks live. Something I've failed to see Jeff Schroeder manage to do.
Well he does.
And as much as I love James, Jeff is a much better guitarist..
Darren Brown He shreds to much. I'm not that huge of a fan of the super technical solos he does. I'd rather listen to Iha playing it, just feels more natural. To each it's own, I guess.
I hope that one day I'll be able playing music like this.
KEEP DREAMING.
great show....I was part of those crowds.
thanks for uploading
Pinkpop sound enginer is number one of the word
Jimmy is the greatest drummer of this generation.
90's loves wearing big loose shirt with illegal colors. I miss those days.
Thats the most awesome version of Hummer ever.
This was around the time record stores still sold cassettes and cds. First CD I ever bought was Mellon Collie age 11. Lost it over the years then bought it again. Now cds are useless but today's music is garbage compared to this.
Andrew Cumby the only album i have is my dads old mellon collie that he gave to me its in perfect condition too !
Cd's are not useless , neither tapes or vinyl - its you who dont see those supports as valuable - u are digital now , not natural . How do u feel now being synthetically digitalized with a cellphone attached to your ear ?
+Pasadena CDs are digital so I don't really understand what your on about
Cds are never useless. Itunes, spotify and all that mega shit can take a cliff dive
No mobile phones no stupid fuckin flags
+reffoelcnu alouncelal I never bring my mobile to a concert. is so stupid, you are going there to have an experience, if you want to record it, buy the bluray, or watch it on youtube later.
+Francisco Gutiérrez lol how does it get on youtube if you shouldn't bring a recording device
ZERO94AIC maybe doesn't need it and doesn't want to be robbed?
Geek USA's BPM seems to go up as the gig sizes do. Wild.
Thanks for uploading! This just made my Saturday :)
Amazing bass lines
All the analysts... Life's a bummer.. when you're a hummer
12:21 that scream tho
The Pumpkins last week in Amsterdam were still awesome.
watching this almost everyday
Jimmy is so fcking underrated.
put the Pumpkins in the RRHoF
Best year of my life...I was 13. There is no one that sounds anything like them.
The guitar Billy is using during Geek USA is the guitar that he used to record Mayonnaise, the guitar signifys the squeal during verses in Mayonnaise because the guitar was so cheap.
THE BEST!
I really, really like this song. it means alot to me, but i think it might be one of those songs that everyone interprets differently.
22 years old in 1994
Love this video!
Amazing performance of geek usa
Yes! Best beautiful sound ever to be made...
9:22 Insane. Watching this at 75% speed and it almost normal.
