45596 Bahamas attacks the Devon Banks

  • 45596 Bahamas makes her turn on the Royal Duchy runs but with a significant difference. The loco became the first ever of her class to venture deep into the West Country over the steeply graded Devon Banks.
    The Jubilee is first seen tackling Dainton, then later on the return run slogging up Hemerdon Bank and finally speeding past Burlescombe

      Thats good to know. Had to be crazy to trash my way through heavy bushes, overgrowth and barbed wires to get that Hemerdon shot but it pays off which I'm satisfied by

    Mind you that was a bit of "showboating" having the safeties blow at the top of Hemerdon!

    More or less perfect combustion, with almost a total lack of smoke coming up that bank. @ 1.03 to 2.53

      I guess burning Fros y Fran steam coal. Some one called it such a perfect fuel that it was cited as a reason for the existence of God. Certainly all you want in a steam coal.

    Why do US steamers smoke so damn much even when they use the same fuel as ours like that one on the Severn Valley I think 🤔 when ours don't
