    One thing I love about GT6 is that you can have a mass rally race with 10+ cars, and you can also select which types of cars can race in it.

      Bad thing about GT6 is you can have as much opponents on the track as you want but they're all useless. All of them slow down to a crawl like 40km/h except the first and second opponent but even they are granny driving.

    In "Hard Swiss Alps reverse", your recommend cars also helped beat "crazy Lancia Delta S4”.
    I used Legacy B4 (retired Boxer Spirit winner in my garage) one of your recommend, I was able to complete all Hard rally event.
    And then, I beated other race events (GTWC etc.), I return to rally to earn more A-spec record myself point and to enjoy drifting.
    I'm using now Audi A3 (retired A3 Cup winner in my garage). Your general tuning guide in " the Ultimate Cheat Guide" is very useful.
    But my good drifting time with Audi is ruined by Lancia. In Swiss Alps reverse, when I first meet Delta S4, I mistake Delta S4 for HF Integrale. I'm overconfident that Lancia is just like Impressa or Lancer Evo.
    Delta S4 is too fast, dangerous drive, moving chicane! Audi A3 can't beat him.
    It's easy to escape to other rival, but I'm not satisfied. So I re-ride powerful Legacy, B4 is able to beat S4.
    On the other hand, there are also fast 80's Group B cars (including Lancia) on Hard Tahiti course, but I can deal with them by Audi A3 (340ps using NOS or 380ps) because technical course.
    From now on, I will try to get more A-spec point on Normal class rally. There are various approachs.
    Power-less version of your recommend cars, mid-old car based (as Celica ST185), heavy duty (as LandRover), my Easy class champ Storia CX 4WD using NOS...
    Mr.TeaKanji, thank you for the fun to drive for rally. The fun never ends!

    My brother, thank you! Tonight was the first time I tried the rally special events and both cars I used were shockingly bad, the old Renault and the beast Toyota Castrol rally car. The Renault proved unplayable and even with the Toyota I struggled hard to keep it on the road. Now I know it wasn't just me :)

    I've been playing GT4 since 2006 but this is my first exposure to the deeper mechanics within the game, particularly the grip modifiers. Now I finally understand certain things I picked up way back in the day when playing arcade mode, such as why some versions of seemingly identical cars always tended to be slightly quicker overall, why the 120d always gets grouped against cars with noticeably better P/W ratios, why the M3 CSL is faster than the M3 GTR and also why the M-Spec Nür had the highest PP rating of all R34 Skylines back in GT6.

    Nice! I'll have to try that GT-R. I tried a couple other GT-R variants on dirt and they didn't seem very good, but I haven't used that one. I'm also a little curious why you chose the RS version of the Evo instead of the GSR. From what I can see, it's a little lighter but the GSR has wider tires that seem like they'd be more helpful than a little less weight.
    There's another car that has greatly impressed me for rally events: the Audi TT Coupe 3.2 quattro '03. Its front-biased torque without a VCD controller gives it the best handling of any car I've tried so far and helps the rear stick better than its grip modifiers would suggest. I was doing Grand Canyon laps around 2'26-2'28 but my driving wasn't super clean so you could probably knock a second or two off that.
    My build was: All relevant upgrades (including stage 3 weight reduction) except racing brakes, rigidity increase, and VCD controller.

    Putting a Viper engine inside the hood of the AE86 and make it the Escudo killer is kind of fun! I do wonder what parts you used for this frankenstein monster.
    Nice selection of cars! The NSX is a very surprising choice, but it works! 4WD are still dominant though. There's a lack of FR cars, so what would you recommand if you had to choose one?

    • @TeaKanji
      @TeaKanji  Před rokem +3

      Hehe, yeah, the Viper GTS engine had both the high peak power and high torque at low-RPM's that I needed. Equipping the AE86's supercharger on top of it made it even more ridiculous. I used the Esucdo's drivetrain (it has the lowest overall drivetrain inertia of all 4WD's), the Amuse S2000 R1's chassis (50 : 50 weight distribution, decently light, and tied for the highest front/rear grip modifiers in the game), the Formula Gran Turismo racingmodify data (its massive drag isn't a huge issue for rallying, and its base downforce stacks with the GT Auto wing for 105 / 135 downforce) and the Nike One dirt tyres (widest dirt tyres in the game for insane traction). I'll probably go into depth on the build when I make a full video about hybriding and SpecDB.
      Unfortunately, most of the FR's that would be great on dirt, like the Amuse S2000 R1/GT1, the Opera S2000 or the SLR McLaren, can't get dirt tyres. There's a bunch of FR's that are tied for 100 / 105 grip modifiers that could do well: the FPV's, the Holden Commodore, the RX-7 Spirit R Type A, the Mustang GT, the 350Z '03 and Nismo Z-tune, the Corvette Z06, and the SSR. Might give some of these a go myself and see how they do.

    Just noticed on your video something i thought was off then it clicked seeing the game emulated with HDR when i've been playing, Windows attempt at tone mapping at least. If you're running exclusive fullscreen on vulkan you wont get the HDR effect. As far as i remember off hand it's only an issue with vulkan exclusive fullscreen on games that do not support native HDR, Borderless fullscreen opengl or DX should be grand. Colours and lighting pop more and you get better SDR recordings which helps on here. Great videos though dude tought me more about the game and i've been plaing since GT97'

      Oh, that's very good to know, thanks for the heads-up. I noticed that CZcams seemed to be heavily compressing my video when viewing it on my monitor, but I thought it was a rendering issue and it didn't go away when I tried changing my rendering settings. I'll try that for my next GT4 video for sure.
      Yeah, the S4 is fantastic. Massive torque, and its heavy weight actually works in its favour for stability. It's definitely the easiest to drive of all the cars shown here.

    Bro, the AE86 is crazy fast 😂, any chance of making a drifting guide?

    • @TeaKanji
      @TeaKanji  Před 9 měsíci

      I would, but my knowledge of drift techniques is limited at best. I can give some tips in terms of car selection though: if you find the SpecDB spreadsheet I put together (it's in the description of some of my GT4 videos, or you can Google "gt4 specdb ntsc spreadsheet" and you'll find a Reddit post with it), you can see the "grip modifiers" for each car. If the rear modifier is higher than the front, the car will re-gain grip more easily and won't be able to hold drifts. Ideally you want the front and rear to be close to each other, or for an extremely drifty car, the front is higher than the rear. Examples of this would be the Amuse S2000 Street or Blitz R34. The older FD RX-7's have balanced grip modifiers and can drift quite easily as well.
      Soften the springs to around 5.0 - 6.0, set the height to around 100 - 110, bounds to 2 and rebounds to 5, stabilisers to 2 / 2, then play around with the camber until the car has enough grip to hold drifts without snapping back into a straight line. Use front camber to improve stability, and rear camber to adjust how much the rear of the car swings and trails along. Equipping a custom LSD will make the car understeer slightly more on corner entry, so try drifting both with and without it and see which you prefer.

      The NSX Type R was one of the biggest surprises for me for sure. Despite 100% of its power going to the rear wheels, it holds traction really well on dirt once you stabilise the front of the car. PD went all-out giving it a massive rear grip stat for whatever reason.

    • @TeaKanji

      @@neogriff It's only the Type R '02 that has this much grip. Most of the older NSX's, particularly the base models, are much more stiff and don't grip quite as well. The next-best ones are the '01 Type S, the Concept that you win from the NA event, and the '92 Type R.

      There isn't really any way for FF's to be viable at this level; they have massive wheelspin when you power them up, and even the best FF's have worse grip modifiers than the MR's and 4WD's used here.

    I want to know why rally is harder than anything else to me in this game. Seems impossible to me do the corners as well as AI do.

    • @TeaKanji
      @TeaKanji  Před 8 měsíci +1

      There's a few reasons: the AI is generally really good at throttle control and driving smooth lines, which is especially apparent on Ice Arena Reverse where there's very few areas to gain time against them. It's extremely difficult to be as precise with throttle control as the AI using a controller, unless you're really experienced with using the right analog for accelerate/brake. In the Hard events, the Impreza '03 rally car and Evo Super Rally Car, the two main cars that the AI use, are two of the best rally cars in the game in terms of cornering grip. As well, these cars only have around 350hp or less, so they have an easier time managing momentum through corners at the cost of straight-line speed. The cars I picked for this video are all quite close to the Evo and Impreza in terms of grip, with the added benefits of higher downforce and more power without sacrificing mid-RPM torque.
