And the cabins look like cheap dioramas you see at theme parks and armor looks like cheap costumes you see at party city
@@Case2_0There could be worse departures than that. Besides, Rick Riordan himself was involved with the show. I’m sure the casting was based off of who gave the most convincing performance, not their hair or eye colours.

The sad part is that the intended audiance for this series has grown up from when they first read the series, so most of us probably wont watch it. And kids now don't read as much so they probably won't watch it either. I can sadly predict that this series may be cancelled.

You have no idea to what point the Percy Jackson series brought my life. Everything started when 10 years old me noticed a wrinkled blue book lying on the bookshelf. And now I am about to turn 23, and I literally owe so much to Rick Riordan. I hope every child of next generations get to experience what I had while reading these series.

I think a reboot of the movies would be better because the book is only approximately 350 pages long even though a show will have more time to tell the story. The show I am guessing will be 3 episodes long for season 1 with each episode approximately 1 hour long.

The opening narration mirroring the first few lines from the book has got me excited and can't wait to see how much more care and detail is being put into this show

This is EVERYTHING. The set design, the dialogue/monologue pulled straight from the book, the costumes?? Everybody say Thank You, Uncle Rick and the other members of the creative team for crafting something truly special

Absolutely looking forward to this series. I feel so bad for Rick Riordan as the terrible movies butchered Percy Jackson and the studio behind said movies ignored Riordan’s input. I am so glad Disney+ are making sure he’s heavily involved and that they’re doing the right thing. Good luck to the cast, producers, writers and anyone else involved in this project.

@@v.v365 those t-shirts and camo pants they grabbed in bulk from target is what I was talking about. Compared to the stuff they wore in the movies at the cramp, this is way less of an interesting look, ignore the buildings shown and this could easily have been a real life summer camp promo video.
What I think is going to really make this series different is the age appropriate casting. Even when I read the books as a pre-teen it didn’t dawn on me about how young they were, because, well, they were my age! Now that I’m an adult it’s crazy to see how much the characters will have to go through at such young ages. I think the cast has been set perfectly and with Rick Riordan being one of the directors on set, this series will be amazing to watch.

@@Melanie-jy2nw compared to the movies, different hair color is a lot better then characters being much older with much different personalities.. remember in the 1st movie they combined annabeth & clarisse before retconning it to add clarisse in the 2nd movie since they realized shes actually an important character
@@delilahramirez6267 In the actual books, Rick Riordan wrote about how Thalia had green eyes. But then a few chapters later they were described as blue. He himself has admitted to this and has said it’s because it wasn’t something that was extremely important. I for one don’t care as much as what the actors look like but just that the TV show actually follows the books a bit. I wasn’t ever mad at the movies because they forgot to make Annabeth blonde, it was that they casted mid 20s actors to play 12 year olds and then even that might not have been that bad had they actually followed the storyline. I trust Riordan, the author of the books that it will be good especially since he has testified that it will be good.
When i was 11 years old i was going through a very tough time, i was getting bullied at school and my relationship with my mother was crumbling apart. I had a book series on my shelf that i decided i was going to finally read. I owe so much to Percy Jackson and Rick Riordan because without this series i dont think i would still be here today at 16. Thank you Percy :)
Been obsessed with this series and the others he has written since fifth grade. I’m so happy it’s finally getting the proper adaption it deserves. Can’t wait! Walker and the rest of the cast are phenomenal!
The intro by Percy, the ages being MUCH closer to the age they are supposed to be, THE SHIRTS, the CABINS actually looking like CABINS....so much better than either movie we got before.
The moment it was revealed they're going to be actual kids and not 27 year olds pretending to be teens. Now it's all good

Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series was a masterpiece, along with the Heroes of Olympus series. I grew up reading those books throughout elementary and high school. Now I am graduated from college, thank you Rick for giving me an amazing reading experience in my youth 🤲🏽
There is another series that follows Apollo. It called the Trails of Apollo and Percy does an appearance.

The fact that Rick Riordan is being promised such freedom, is what gives me any hope for this. What they did with the movies almost brought me to tears.
I especially hope this goes well, so that the eragon series can be successfully adapted as well!

This literally feels so unreal, the aesthetics, the setting, the cabins and the demigods, all of it is literally how I imagined it to be like it's literally how I always wanted it to be I've waited so long for this along with so many other people and this looks so promising, I can't wait 😭😭😭😭😭

I GOT CHILLS. CHILLS. These books WERE my childhood and they had my back when little else did. Hearing these lines straight out of the first book, with kids-actual kids-is bringing tears to my eyes. This feels like the books did. Like home. I'm so excited. :)
Walker’s voice is literally perfect for Percy’s narration.
Finally an accurate representation of what the characters ages really were at the start of the book series, I lost hope on TV and Film adaptations but this gives me some hope.

@@lucyb3701 It matters, It's real life adaptation movie based on a book series. If it's different from the original character it doesn't feel right at all it takes away the immersive experience. Well it is fine if you don't read the book at all and doesn't know the story or it's your first time knowing about percy but as someone who read the entire book it just doesn't feel right its not represent the actual character. Imagine if percy in the movie is black bruh. It's just a skin color after all. What if harry potter is Mexican? It won't feel right either.

Started reading Riordan's books when i was in the third grade, now I'm an adult in society but i still love his books and how his writing has evolved over the years. I'm very excited for this to come out, and I'm glad that Rick had a part in making it.

I've always liked Percy Jackson more than certain other youth fiction properties. If well executed, this could be absolutely massive and introduce a whole new generation to an absolutely fantastic book series. I hope this series is just as accessible to adults as it is to younger generations.

I can argue against the atmosphere that houses were located at the open space, not in the forest, ruins the atmosphere and makes everything feel low-budget (Like old 90s-00-s TV series)

I kid you not, I cried. It felt so immersive but at the same time I could just feel so happy because this kid can show us what Percy is really like. And not to mention I’ll be growing up with him, super excited. YOU GOT THIS!!

I didn't discover Percy Jackson through the books at first, I discovered it through the movies. I loved the movies when I was a kid so I started reading the books in middle school. I was blown away by how good the books were in comparison to the movies, I binged the first series as well as 'The heroes of Olympus' sequel series in one summer. Needless to say this Percy Jackson has been a big part of my life as well, so I'm so excited to see Rick Riordan take part in how he wants his vision to be portrayed on the small screen.

As a fan of the books, this is all i could have ever wished for. I am so glad that Rick Riordan had a lot to say in this adaption so I dont have any doubts that it will absolutely do the books justice. Also Walker totally fits Percys role so much, I cant wait to see more!
He had more than just a say, he's actively been on-set for most of production and was given total control in casting the main characters! I'm *so* excited for this series.
This doesn't surprise me at all, the show-runners are really, really legit and their other work has been amazing.

I’m well in my 20s but this series has been a highlight of my high school days. I remember binging book after book in the library and waiting for Rick Riordan’s new releases. This adaption looks insanely brilliant and I know it’ll do the books justice. Huge kudos to everyone involved.

I'm 28 myself and this series along with the sequal series are still some of my favorite books. To see it better accurately represented compared to what we got years ago is giving me hope.
After years of waiting, Percy Jackson fans might finally get an adaptation that doesn’t suck! This is great!

25 years old and holding back tears. I forgot how much these books meant to me. Rick really made you feel like there could be magic and monsters and superpowers hiding in our world like no other author has for me. I generally try to keep expectations low, but I can't help but hope for this one.

all this show really needs is a tad bigger budget but their making best with what they have and it shows. i always imaged that percy jackson is one of those fantasy series that needs alot of money to be great (like lotr massive buget and even harry potter) but i see it's not always the case (cough cough the old pjo movies) looks promising so far im defeintly getting the vibes that i did when a first read the very first page of the book
It's important to note that this show is just an adaptation of the books. While I hope things do remain similar to the books I am willing to let some things stray from the continuity such as character appearances. As long as the actors playing the part do a good job bringing the characters from the books to life ill be a happy camper.
As a kid with ADHD growing up with the original series (alongside the sequels), it's an absolute treat to see Percy Jackson receive a second chance at being the media juggernaut it deserves to be.

Personally, while having trouble focusing on lessons in middle school due to yet undiagnosed ADHD, I read Percy Jackson books (while I was supposed to be paying attention to important things such as... Well, I can't remember). Smart of Rick to appeal to all the kids with ADHD, because he knew we'd keep reading the books even when we weren't supposed to be xD

In autistic and have adhd, and I absolutely loved having a character I felt like I could relate to and admire. Rick has always been really good at showcasing a diverse cast of characters without tokenizing or patronizing.

The concept of having the monologue over Percy walking into camp each year with a new charm on his necklace is bringing tears to my eyes.
I loooove the first person narration, I actually remember it being the first thing to hook me into The Lightning Thief back when I was a kid. It's really crazy but I can actually remember standing (not sitting!) in my living room and being GLUED to the page. This trailer gave me so much nostalgia and excitement

i've always loved the way the characters made their world sound real and made you feel included in the book's introductions. the little geek i was used to memorize these things word for word. hearing it now in the trailer makes me feel like a little kid again :')
Gives me chills. I stopped reading books back in middle school and have regretted it ever since. It’s been 12 years since middle school for me. I stopped at the first series and never picked up again. I remember my anxiety got in the way starting on book 3, and I regret finishing the series struggling.
I think Im literally crying from happiness right now. THIS is the thing that will make me buy Disney +, I would probably never subscribe otherwise. I will finally give in and fork up my cash to the Disney overlords... only so I can watch this when it comes out. Seriously.

Read the series to my students and loved it. The fact that the characters are kids dealing with the revelation that their Demi-gods is one thing. But how Riordan made the idea of them feeling abandoned relatable to kids who feel like that in real life is just incredible.

Percy Jackson got me through so much. I considered the characters my friends when I had no one there for me in my real life. The show looks amazing and I can’t wait to see them brought to life.

@@Callarson I honestly read quite fast, its a habit i picked up from my blind father. He is blind and uses text to speech progams, but speeds up the voice so he feels less slow than others, and growing up I kinda just learned to read and understand fast things. Combined with my adhd and autisim I can read quite fast.

I can't explain the feeling, I've always loved Percy Jackson since I started reading the books 5 years ago. I never stopped reading them, 5 times, 10 times. Maybe more. This is the best gift I could get as a PJ fan. With all the love... I really really hope this series become a GREAT HIT. ❤️
Im gonna be honest I get in a way why people are upset about the actor's chosen for playing the characters from the books, as their iconic and is what many people have grown up with this also includes me. The Percy Jackson book series are my most favorite no matter what and have read all the books hundreds if not more time over the years more. I've generally talked to people who imagine the characters either completely different from what me and many others imagine them to look like or how they're described as.
I personally don't care to much what the actor's look like to much as long as the actor's play the characters well.
and I know a lot of people are not going to agree with this at all or are not going to like my opinion, and I don't expect them to.
This is just my perspective and my opinion.
I'm gonna be honest I'm very much excited about this coming out and being able to watch it. If you don't like it, then you don't like it, and that's alright. You're aloud to like or not like it.
I'm so glad they actually brought the facts the fact that the books are being written by a future Percy into it. That little line during the trailer is the opener to the first book. I love it already
12 year old me back in 2012 is trembling and fangirling so hard didn’t think I would be this far deep into the Percy Jackson universe but now ten years later still feeling goosebumps and can’t wait to see what will come so excited it’s been a long wait but can’t wait to see what Rick Ans the cast show us 😭love and support all the way 🔱🦉🌲

Ever since I watched this teaser I have done a lot of research to see if this show is going to be a faithful adaptation to the original book series and I’m happy to say that my research has reached to this conclusion: there is no way this show will ever be worse than the movies

For years I’ve waited to see my childhood come to life. There is a certain sense I got hearing the first speech because that’s the speech that got my hooked on the series, the entire reason I associate myself with who I am today. It’s impossible to correctly put into words just how much this series already means to me, but my fifth grade self would go wild at the thought of it :)

I've always liked Percy Jackson more than certain other youth fiction properties. If well executed, this could be absolutely massive and introduce a whole new generation to an absolutely fantastic book series. I hope this series is just as accessible to adults as it is to younger generations. aye
I’m sure it will be. Rereading the books now, it’s been almost 10 years since I read them the first time, and they are still applicable to adults. They are of course geared towards young teens, but the themes apply to everyone.
Now we need a Chronicles of Narnia, Gone, 5th Wave, 39 Clues, and Micheal Vey to get adapted into tv series.
The fucked up Annabeth and Percy, soo this is gona faile. Im so glad i grow up with the books and not with this.

Things are already looking good, especially with the book's accurate ages. It's a bit of a shame that they couldn't get the looks for the characters more accurately, but if these kids can bring the characters to life, I'm all for it!

The opening monologue being the first lines of Lightning Thief is just perfect. Live action adaptions aren't usually my taste but I'm looking forward to this one.

honestly the difference between the books descriptions and the cast is throwing me for a loop. Rick did a wonderful job of helping us see clearly what each character looks like, seeing how percys black hair is mentioned over and over, why didn't they just give him a wig? in the beginning of the trailer I thought for a second maybe this wasn't a percy jackson series but rather a spin off, with new campers. But then the dialogue that's taken directly from percy wouldn't make much sense.
I was very obsessed with Harry Potter as a kid but I completely missed the boat on Percy Jackson. I truly wished I had kept up with the series in its prime, After reading the 1st 5 books I would say that it is an incredible series and anybody who grew up with them the same way as I grew up with Harry, I hope those books keep you young forever, and inspire your own adventures.

Loved the original series and even the spin offs like magnus chase and the Cain chronicles but I just couldn't get through heros of Olympus. Made it through the first book but that's it
