This reminds me of one of my mates ( no longer with us ) he used to go to the Auctions and wait for a car he wanted nearly always a Ford, mostly Cortinas MK 3s , he never paid more than £ 350 the he'd put right whatever was wrong with it , buy what he wanted from the scrap yard , so in all it wouldn't cost him more than £400 or £500 but he'd end up with a car that lasted him quite a few years until the next one , he seems to always have done better than me , the way to go I think . 🤔

Great content, and to be honest scrap on it is around £180 so you done okay regardless. if you not willing to fix it you could always trade it on and make a little bit on top. I think a clutch would sort out that crunch, and a heater resistor, or blower motor but I don’t know much about Vauxhalls, look forward to seeing what you do with it.

117k miles not bad for its age, ex police so serviced, good tyres, it will clean up (even the rust stains) so worth tidying, especially if you can find a parcel shelf, and possibly trading it on.

No ex police cars are a pile of s#£t they are never serviced on time driven until they break, driven poorly no real care like a private driver/owner. Engine driven at full pelt.
Its tow hook has probably been required a number of times, feel sorry for the next owner, nothing is superficial with a ex police car.

There are a few locations with 24hr jet washes available and a drive through car wash at the workshops
Every year or so they get a “deep clean” at the workshops or if they get contaminated in between
I should also have said in my earlier reply these cars had a long service life as they didn’t do huge annual mileages ( often less than 10k pa ) not unusual for them to be 10-12 years old before disposal

It wouldn't surprise me if that's non-standard tbh. I used to regularly drive several ex- police 1.7 diesel mk4 (G) Astras. I've no idea about the Corsa, but police Astras are (or at least were) factory adapted for police use. They came with heavy duty shocks/springs (which possibly enhanced ground clearance) and steel sump guard, all sourced from the European 'bad road package' (not normally available on UK cars). They also benefited from SRI seats, air con and rear disc brakes. Despite all this, they were registered as 'Envoy' which was base spec for the Astra G - great for insurance premiums. Loved driving them so much I now own one myself. The police Astra mk5 (H) were much the same and - like your Corsa - were listed as 'Specials'.

Just do not understand why people think they are kept to how the book states, they never are. Feel sorry for the next owner, always a terrible purchase.

It's funny how reviewers from the UK actually refer to Vauxhall this and Vauxhall that.
Vauxhall's have just been production line variations of the equivalent Opel models for decades.
The last vehicle developed by Vauxhall was the original Viva.
Nowadays Vauxhall is little more than a UK marketing division of Opel.
In other right hand drive countries they are marketed and sold as Opel's.

That Gen of the Corsa is Literally a Shit Box , My housemate who was an estate agent she had one as a company car and it always was going wrong , first thing Timing chain on a car with 14 thousand miles then the head gasket went , then the clutch suddenly went ,then the ECU went and in the end the Estate agent Heart estate agents had to give her a different company car LMAO even the police were always breaking down in those cars , absolute trash , the older Mk1 and Mk2 Corsa's were much better my dad had a 2003 1.2 which got to 156 thousand miles before it died , made in Poland much better.
