  • I’m on a mission to try Tyneside’s best independent venues to eat and drink, whether it’s a cafe, pub, or restaurant.
In this video I check out The Cafe Under the Spire in Bensham, Gateshead.

Hi Eddy, blummin Brill little video, enjoyed over my lunch break. Definitely doing a visit to the church for some tasty bate 👍you've again brought back good memories. My mam & dad both used to live in Tower Street, Bensham, when they were growing up. When sadly Tower Street and Bensham social club were demolished for development, my nana & grandad moved to Claremont walk, again just a short walk from the church. I clearly remember my mam getting on the 648 and 649 buses to Bensham and the drop off fromDunston was a stop outside the church! Thanks for the memories and a hidden gem! 👍👏

Family having Sunday lunch. Dad had just got in from work. Dad sat down.....we all heard a crack! Then thud. It was a football that had landed on the back yard plastic roof and rested in the yard. Minutes later, knock at the door. Can I have me ball back please? Said Paul and Carl Gascoigne together! Dad said no! But relented 5 minutes later, I hoyed it over the yard wall.....thanks mate! Came a reply back ! 😅 my only gazza claim to fame! Best British player of his generation. How much would a young, fit, healthy Gazza be worth in todays market? I'll go £120 million.
