Nuguri: Comes in with the biggest resting bitch face
Chat: "He's just shy, Dom."
LCKunts trying to save him some face đ
How Fpx still did do well in both splits is incredible. Plus tian sure is a nice guy, watching nuguri just blank him when he attempted to try talk to him Korean broke my heart.
Do you have the time stamp for that?
@@lukemercer7077 32:26
Man that was hard to watch, didn't realise Nuguri had such a bad attitude. Like you could at least try to make the best out of the situation even if you think it isn't ideal. Like if he put more effort in relationship with the team he for sure had a chance to win a split at least jeez
that was so horrible, felt bad for tian.
Tian tried his damndest to be pull himself and fpx together, it hurts that they fell apart so hard at worlds
TheShy didn't bother learning chinese but it didn't matter, he was always smiling and hanging around his teammates and interacting with them. Idk why people keep trying to defend nuguri, clearly he wasn't comfortable in his environment and he shouldn't have gone for the paycheck.
TheShy doesn't talk chinese fluently outside of the game, but he tries at least a little bit. If you watched some of the IG mic checkhe communicates mostly in Chinese , where he struggles is communicating outside of the game maybe because he's close friend with rookie and doesn't really feels the need to be fluent. But next season gonna be a turning point or the downfall of theShy he won't be playing with Rookie. Let's see how he adapts maybe he's more focus in game since his best friend no longer plays with him or he's gonna struggle with 4 new teammates
TheShy can read Chinese, and stream in Chinese. Thats all I want to say
@@alleng9752 in 2018 he codnt.
@@stefankatsarov5806 He can understand but can't speak fluently
What team will he be on? & who is on that team?
I am glad Tian is able to move on to TES for the new season, hopefully TES won't shit the bed this time around.
knight is his best friend since ldl, so at least he will be happy there
they shit the bed
@@lus4137 my initial comment did not age well :'(
Dunno how I missed episode 1, but this is actually a damn good watch. I'm 100% watching LPL next season, not all of it cause thats insane but this league is SO much more interesting than NA.
You'll have fun. Aside from how crazy out-of-game stuff can be, it's got the most wild games on the rift. LPL teams don't give a fuck, they just go ham every time.
I'm reminded of how the casters were losing their minds last year at JDG vs SN, having full on 5v5 teamfights over fucking Gromp. Just LPL things.
LPL is so fun. They have such a nice eco system developed around their pro teams. So many inside jokes and history, and they make so many insightful videos and clips about their pro players so you really get attached. Welcome to the club! Iâm so excited for you.
UZI CAME BACK BTW!!!! DEF WORTH WATCHING
Actually when the FPX episode came out in China, fans were critiquing the FPX coach staff and manager for not "scolding" their players enough. Which is true, compared to other LPL teams, FPX's coaching staff is rather "passive", they kinda let players do whatever they want. Chinese fans thought they could've been more harsh on Nuguri not being to blend in, or the Doinb and Tian incident.
Tian is apparently going to TES with knight, which I think is really good because they've been friends for a really long time and they were both playing for YM before entering the LPL.
Btw, the translator chose the words verbal beatdown but it just means yelling at them or scolding them.
Remind me of the Doinb and Tian incident again please, Doinb was referring it during the episode and I didn't know what he was talking about
@@nguyentri3608 I'm not sure I got it all right but here goes :
Basically in China, every player/streamer got their own moderators, and when Tian was playing really poorly and got the drake stolen , one of doinb's mods tweeted something like : "If I was doinb i would've directly crushed my keyboard on Tian's skull". Which of course got a lot of Tian's fan upset and even players (close friends of Tian such a LangX or knight were changing their id) they asked her to be removed, and she indeed was removed, but after some time they discovered that she actually came back as doinb's mod as another name. And since every player/streamer choses their own mod, they know doinb is the one that put her back on, which caused a lot of drama. (You can actually see the news written in chinese at 3:29 which talks about the "helmet incident", and how doinb's mod "attacked" tian)
Also, im not sure when, but the id incident he was referring to 11:05 is basically : during doinb's stream, he received a donation of 7k yuan (roughly 1.1k dollars), but doinb just thanked the donation and didn't read the id (of the donator), shortly after, he received a message from that donator which he read out loud saying something like "i donated so much why didn't you read my id" and doinb just said the id really quickly trying to brush it off. The id of that donator was "Doinb is tian's father" (which is kind of a inside joke they have, but since it was during a period where there were drama between tian and doinb, reading the id was highly innapropriate)
I quite agree with most what you said. Though I donât rly agree with you said that they blame the coach stuff for not âscoldingâ the players. Honestly, I saw more ppl blamed them for increasing the pressure on players through their passive way of talking.
@@mangatalk9263 You might be right, I tend to not look too much at chineseâs fans comment because they can really be extremely idiotic and toxic. But from what Iâve understood and read, the fans were critiquing their way of â scoldingâ because instead of just giving them a good wake up call (like edgâs coach) and telling them to âstop itâ, they chose to scold them passively, saying stuff like âonly you guys can figure it out, you guys have the choice, â while I think they shouldve been more harsh.
I think this is because of Crystalâs (Fpx manager) and Steakâs (Fpx coach) personality, Crystal is more like a âmomâ to the team, so you can probably imagine her ways of scolding players, and Steak is even more passive, personally I donât even think heâs ever scolded one of them, but thatâs just me.
@@tozzz6067 yeahâŠ. Thatâs what I mean. Their way of âscoldingâ is so passive that even makes me feel anxious as a student đđ. Crystal kind of reminds me a type of parents I saw before that care so much about detailed lives of their children but kind of feel betrayed when they donât get high grades or somethingđ€Ș.
Hey at least when Regi starts berating Chinese TSM they'll all be used to it
Yes cant wait. Also my heart goes to Tian
Watched this on stream, and dom pointed it out but it still blows my mind how hard of a time nuguri had on fpx. Viper didn't say much, but you could tell he was trying his best to get along with his teammates, but nuguri straight refused to talk to anyone. I mean I guess viper got relegated from lck and then went 2-16 then next split and nuguri smashed the latter half of the year. But, it still blows my mind that he didn't try at all. Maybe going from canyon to tian broke him.
Going from the whole DK team to FPX broke him. Worse jungler, worse mid laner, worse ADC, the only upgrade was support because crisp is a god
@@AtlasAdvice254 "worse midlaner"
Viper also took the time to learn the language well. Tarzanâs Chinese is also quite good. The most successful imports are the ones who can communicate and acclimate to the culture long term (rookie, scout, doinB). Hopefully Tarzan and Viper can both continue to find success in LPL.
I don't respect nuguris choice as a player he is amazing but refusing to take in the chinese culture and teamates is a joke and he needed a scolding from the fpx coach.
Nuguri clearly had issues assimilating into the Chinese scene and culture, part of him must regret leaving DK to come to China and having to deal with the drama in FPX as the new guy.
Side note, we dont get this type of content in LCS either. Like raw content like this showing who the players are, what trials and tribulations they go through. Failures, victories, all of this was good look on.
Give me a clg documentary ASAP.
i think Doinb and Perkz has the same attitude in the team. even if everything's going down the shithole they're the ones who'll try to lift the team's spirits up. all smiles, doesn't matter if it's a win or a loss.
"verbal beatdown" is a translation of "ma," which you could also say scold or reprimand, give a talking to, etc. But beatdown is pretty epic.
People like nuguri singlehandedly destroy teams, not just League but in every sport.
fax
I don't know if the player facecams are synced with the game but the fact that Doinb solo killed Scout under tower and lived and then took a casual sip of his drink needs to be acknowledged. 19:51 is the timestamp if anyones wondering.
The problem in NA is they want the end result without doing everything they need to make it there.
It tells you a lot about today's western society is it not?
Depressing turn of events. We could get an idea but I didnĂšt expect Nuguri to literally close himself off that bad. Why even bother going to China then?

Ge went to experience someting diferent and test himself vs the best tops, in 2 part he had good sucses.

Save money to buy house
It's sad to see this Champion team split apart and rebuild. But Iâm also glad to see these guys have promising future. Doinb with Ale and Tarzan, Tian with his best friend Knight, Crisp with Uzi, Nuguri back to his country. Sorry, I forget lwx.....
When people say âLeague is languageâ and language barriers donât matter⊠Nuguri is a prime example of where they are wrong - The inability to communicate with your team can make you isolated and when you start to lose it will compound on those issues.
This is why language barriers are a real thing and no amount of game knowledge will ever fix the language and cultural issues.
Guess DoinB is just built different
I wouldn't say inability because that implies that Nuguri couldn't communicate at all even if he tried or he had no chance to, which is wrong. His team really tried to give him ever opportunity to communicate with him but he shut them off. He had DoinB to talk to if he wanted to start things off with Korean, and he knew that accepting a position in FPX meant that he had the responsibility to adapt to the new environment. He had the ability, he just chose to fuck it.
Communication is only possible if both parties want to communicate.
Otherwise its pointless even if you speak the same language.
At the same time if you do not speak the same language and you want to communicate, you will find a way.
40:18 Nuguri probably got the verbal beatdown he so sorely needed.
The algorithm saw fit to introduce me to your channel. As a new viewer, I've been seriously enjoying a lot of your content. Keep it up
Should go back and watch some of the crackdown. Itâs my favorite content from Dom
Previously we have Deft taught Meiko Korean so that they could communicate, Now we have Nuguri teaching Tian. Impressive
lol
Half the team was physically handicapped this year as well.
i'm suprised you didn't make any comments on some of the things in the background.
the large wall of electronics (i honestly have no idea what i was looking at) behind them in one scene, the mountain of water bottles stacked against the wall in preparation of a zombie apocalypse.
can't wait for the RNG episode.
Chad Viper vs Beta Nuguri
I've been watching Nuguri for years now and when he first went to FPX, my first thought was, how was he going to blend in with the different culture, language, everything. I would also say the same for Chovy. Chovy had also previously said in an interview that he won't go out of Korea because he knew that he would have such problems. The reason I say I was concerned about Nuguri is that even in Damwon, he was not the talker, in or out of the game. And he was also very stubborn with how he saw the game which I guess is the same for most players. Nuclear has said this and he had also said that Nuguri was the hardest working player he knew. The game is the only thing he knows. Also, I get why he would chase the bag too. He had said that what gave him happiness as a proplayer was that he could help his family at a young age and contribute to his parents' settlement. It's so easy to say "whatever" from an individualistic westernised perspective but it works so differently in the east. And he was excited for China too but things didn't go the way he planned and he ended up closing himself. Honestly, I still think that he pulled himself together very well in the games that really mattered Also, I guess even in Damwon, Canyon and Nuguri were the players I felt would not gel with a foreign team. Showmaker on the other hand has always been described by everyone as a perfect teammate/player. Also, Nuguri is my favourite player and I have been watching him since CK so I feel pretty bad watching him go through this and also the way he reacted to his situation.
Doinb mechanically cracked in game and irl
Now we know why the West can never beat the East at worlds. These players legit put everything into this game. Even their health and well-being. Itâs honestly shocking how different the cultures are in respect to practice and the game from China to NA/EU.
@32:00 i hope tian is all right with news that nugs is leaving and its not his fault and that he should not press himself thinking he did not do the max to get nuguri to stay or anything is his fault
Imagine having Khan,Peanut,Doinb,Teddy and Gorilla as a team those guys would be meme Machine
Lplâs gonna miss this when Regi starts giving them ptsd.
"wow, at least our verbal beatdowns in LPL actually meant something, why the fuck is this NA CEO telling me I'm a brat?"
Love this series, very fair review :)
I know that Doinb is kinda like the face of the LPL but I would kill to see him play in Korea for a year
No Korean team will want to play his style. They will just want him on oriana/azir all the time.
Doinb has openly criticized LCK culture many times (hundreds at this stage) on his stream. Heâs never going there.

43:34 Not to mention Viper came off the worst season of his career from a wins perspective while Nuguri just had come off the best by Winning Worlds. I'm assuming viper had a reality check that year on Hanwa

Wait, Doinb is Korean right? So he could actually communicate with Nuguri didnât he? Iâm not blaming him or anything, just surprised to think that Nuguri still donât communicate even when thereâs no language barrier (with him and Doinb).
he tried but the result was the same as Tian try to communicate with Nuguri (i watched the video in bilibili but forgot in which video, i think is on fpx official vlog if no mistaken)
@@eeewwwee itâs the same documentary episode 4 that will come out on YT this Saturday
I wouldn't blame Nuguri for his attitude but he wouldn't truly make a name for himself if he only wants to play with good teammates. True legends carry their teams, even if they are bad - that's how they make a name for themselves.
He will only be known as the monster top laner like smeb and be forgotten afterwards if his mentality doesn't change.
He was the reason his team was bad at worlds. Every team has bad games and bad scrims, but to shut yourself out on stage is like stranding your teammates into playing a 4v5, especially when your jungler is trying that hard to communicate with you. It also makes him extremely unprofessional seeing heâs receiving a massive paycheck for it. Lost a lot of respect for him after watching this.
The amout of taping on players necks and wrists is interesting. Dont think i have seen it used so extensivly on western players
Western players take care of themselfs more. Talking about having gym hours spetial exercise for rists, backs and necks and they dont play as much as the east.
Sad and suprising they havent gave them specialized chairs for long hour grinding.
@@stefankatsarov5806 Yeah iguess your right. Taping can be used to sabelize, so i think it can be smart even if ur not injured. Does not seem like the eastern players take as good care of them self and just dig themselvs down and grind degen hours all day.

Nuguri is the only one responsible for his choices, anyone has anything to do with it. He wasnât even trying, acting like a spoiled child.
Iâve been watching Doinbâs stream on and off for the whole year. It seemed like the whole team tried really hard to have a good time with Nuguri. Doinb would frequently mention him on stream in an endearing way, Tian and Crisp would make jokes about Nuguri and the team. As a result the general view about Nuguri was very positive among the LPL community prior to this episode coming out. People were putting the blame on Tian mostly for the bad performances, but little did they know he was playing with a solo queue top laner for the majority of the time.
