- Kitchen GFCI Won't Reset But Has Power
On this work order the resident said the GFCI outlet at the kitchen counter won't reset and the breaker is not tripped. The other outlets at the kitchen counter won't work either.

Thanks for watching MM 👍
Good job ! Thanks for sharing and have a blessed day !
Thanks for watching Phillip & have a blessed day as well. 👍
First guess on cause 0:01 before even watching, based on the title. Probably has the line power connected to the load terminals of the GFCI outlet.
Great guess, but that's not the issue.
@@ApartmentMaintenance Yeah, just a slightly more common outlet failure. Pretty common with older GFCI outlets. Unfortunately many fail in an unsafe manner, like this one did.
@@thomasbonse Yep I definitely agree with you on that. I have had quite a few fail like this over the years at my property. Thanks for watching Thomas & subscribe to the channel if you're not already 👍
Very nice video!
Thanks for watching Junior 👍
@@ApartmentMaintenance thank you for uploading and sharing that knowledge my friend!
@@Fitjaycjr Yes sir anytime. If there's ever a certain repair or something you would like to see let me know & I'll do my best to make a video on it.
Replaced mine with a new one. There’s power at the wires but the green light never comes on. Made sure the line and load were correct. And that gfi is the only outlet in the house not working. Could it be an issue if there’s only 80 V ?
Yeah it needs to be 120 volts. You may have a bad breaker, or check other outlets to the left & right of the GFCI to see if power comes from another outlet. But normally a GFCI is on its own breaker. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching Antonio & Subscribe to the channel 👍
Hi, question: what kind of gloves you use?
Black Raven Nitrile gloves. Thanks for watching Ceo2435 & help support the channel by subscribing 🛠️👍
WHAT IF I HAVE A GREEN ON THE OUTLET BUT NO POWER TO THE RESUPTICALS
Basically means the same thing as the situation I had in the video. You have power to the outlet but the outlet is bad which is why it won't reset & work properly. Thanks for watching Jeff & help support the channel by subscribing 🛠️👍
👊😎
Thanks for watching Jose 🛠️👍
Only 2 reasons a GFCI won't reset. Either the GFCI itself is defective or there's no power to the GFCI.
That is correct! Thanks for watching William & Subscribe to the channel 👍
So I replaced a GFI on its own breaker still nothing but a regular receptacle works any ideas?
@@shanegilreath7701 Are you wiring the GFI outlet correctly? Incoming power from the breaker goes to the LINE side of the GFI outlet. The LOAD side of the GFI outlet is for additional down stream outlets that need GFI protection as well
It's also possible, tho unlikely, that the GFI outlet you purchased was bad out of the box. It does happen some times...
@@shanegilreath7701 One more thing... GFI outlets are in a tripped state out of the box. Make sure to press the reset button on it after turning the breaker back on.
@@williamweckel8140 I checked the wires multiple times I have a regular outlet fed off it. It's got a 20 amp breaker. Having the same issue with old and new GFIs not setting at all, was wondering could they be a break in the ground somewhere or lossing ground somehow?
So what I’m getting out of this video is if it doesn’t reset the GFCI is not good and just needs to be replaced?
I’m going to try this right now I’m having this issue now
That's correct. Thanks for watching Frankreyna9281 & subscribe to the channel 👍
@@frankreyna9281 Good luck & let me know if that was your issue as well.

doesn't explain anything about how to troubleshoot. It just shows how to replace the outlet.
