2012 was Blind Guardian's 25th anniversary. One way to celebrate this special occasion was the release of "Memories of a Time to Come" in January 2012.
Leading up to the release, Guardian TV was introduced. The second episode features the whole band taking questions from Facebook fans.
Clocking in at 6 minutes and 10 seconds, episode 2 of Guardian TV answers the following questions:
1. After all these years what is your opinion of "A Night at the Opera"?
2. Are there any songs that have never been released?
3. Why do you never do the end of "ATTWS" why you play it live? ("Still the wind blows, calm and silent...") It's one of the most epic parts ever written, of the most epic song! So why?
4. Some time ago it has been stated, that once live performances come to an end, the live recordings will be evaluated for a possible live release. What's the current status of that?
5. What is a style or sound you want to explore but haven't been able to yet? Perhaps there's a more unorthodox inspiration they've derived from a different band, a sound you'd like to try out?
6. André, you are the only member who hasn't worked with other musicians on a project, at least openly. Do you have plans for any such endeavor?
7. Have you ever thought about a club tour with some gigs in small venues, to get back to the familiar feeling, or do you miss to have a small but therefore very enthusiastic and easy to catch audiences due to being closer to them?

A Night at the Opera is one of your best album amongst the best albums you guys have ever written. We want more like that. It is kinda sad listening to Hansi when he admit it is underrated...
A Night at the Opera and Nighfall in the Middle Earth are my favorite Blind Guardian albums. I totally agree with Hansi whe he says it is a very underrated album.
Seriously you guys are the best band out there. I've never seen a band with such consistent quality output, innovation in their music, amazing live performances that somehow exceed the quality of studio recorded music, and love for their fans. You guys are fucking awesome.

Blind Guardian is part of my life... since i was kid. Most Their songs are influence of important choices i've done through all those years at my life and i'm successful
Nice, i like it very much, BG is clearly a band that need to do such interviews from time to time because waiting for their albums and their live concerts is hard.
Record a Live DVD on Greece guys, it's gonna rock! ;)

All the songs from "A Night At The Opera" are wonderfull and great masterpiece from Blind Guardian releases! my favorites of them: Punishment Divine, Under The Ice, Wait For An Answer, The Soulforged, Battlefield and over all the great Epic Masterpiece called And Then There Was Silence... I listen this complete album all the times that I can...Long Live for Blind Guardian and the Heavy Power Metal...!!!
A Night at the Opera is easily my favorite album! Not to mention the very first Blind Guardian album I've listened too!
Well...without words jejeje but this is very great to know about Blind Guardian band and first with themselves: Hansi, André, Marcus and Frederik, less Thomen that was the original member of the band, but well, these videos are good to know more about all around them and specially thier music, the old discs, about some of the new direction they will take in the future in the next albums, all is wonderfull. I hope that the next albums be in the old school Heavy Power Metal with new sounds!
I always liked A Night at the Opera... I know a lot people didn't care for it but that was the first BG album I ever owned (now I own all =). It has some great stuff on it!!
A night at the opera is probably the smartest album I have ever heard from any group... It's the greatest album in my opinion !

A Night At The Opera used to be my favourite album, not just from Blind Guardian, but now...
Well, there's At The Edge Of Time!!
I tried to look for other epic metal bands which used orchestras, but you are simply the best.
I've listened to At The Edge Of Time a hundred times and still don't get bored, the same was for A Night At The Opera (I kinda missed A Twist In The Myth but i'm making up for that).
Just please keep going amazingly as you're doing, or better!!

A Night At The Opera is, in my honest opinion, the best Blind Guardian album, by far. Sure, it's not very easy listening, but it is so complex and strong that once it gets to you, it will never leave you.
Small shows = Denver a year ago... less then 200 people.. it was FANTASTIC!

Night at Opera... i can't understand why some guys don't like this album... its PERFECT, PERFECT... Of Course it aren't better than Imaginations, but its a VERY GOOD Album..

And "A Night Of The Opera"(2002) it seems to me one of the best albums of BG, was the last studio album made with Thomen on the drum and for me Thomen put his heart and soul to do this one of the best album in their career, it's a pity that he's not in BG and so the life goes on for each one, Frederik is a great drummer, Frederik occupy the seat of Thomen and this mean too much for us like BG's fans, and the "Imaginations Through The Looking Glass"(2004) DVD Live was the end of a Era with Thomen

I feel A Night at the Opera will always be Blind Guardian's best, at least for now. Most complaints seem to be from people that don't like how the complexity doesn't translate well to a live show or it isn't fast enough. To that, I say there are enough bands that do those things, but not many who can write like Blind Guardian can. All that matters, though, is that Blind Guardian write what they want to write. To me, that is GOOD MUSIC with metal as the backbone, rather than the be all end all.

To me, "A night at the opera" still is their best album, but like Hansi said - anyway it's understandable that it's too much for some people...
I love BG from the early 90s and all but A night at the Opera is a great album all around.

If you recorded your gig in London in 2010 then release that! I mean it was a special, one off gig in England and you hadn't been here for what, 14 years prior? I can't really remember right now... Of course there was Bloodstock but I am trying to make a point here ;)

For me, their worst album is Nightfall In Middle Earth. And it's a masterpiece.
@gouzman666 Thomen never had any Problems with the Band. They are still Friends. Sometimes, if you want to go on, all you have to do is let go.
