As an introvert, I found a unique community-building platform where I could connect with like-minded individuals and share my passions. CZcams became a creative outlet that complemented my journaling, allowing me to express my thoughts and experiences in new ways. This journey also reinforced my identity as a life-long learner, constantly discovering new skills and knowledge. Through CZcams, I’ve not only enriched my present but also crafted a plan for the future and retirement. Since I just started my CZcams channel, I am inspired that you keep going and show that you can start something new in your 50s. And I had to laugh when you said that if you were in your 50s, you should have some skills - because you are right! I don't know how often I've heard from older friends that they don't want to learn "life lessons" from people in their 20s. It isn't that younger people don't have things to teach us - they absolutely do - but I get the sentiment. As a GenXer, we have lived through some stuff!
It’s funny that you said that, because both of my kids (21 and almost 19) just said to me last night that I know more about CZcams now than they do! Lol. The mind is a powerful thing and in my 60's is sharper now than ever. First big move was leaving friends and family 350 miles away. That was why I started this channel. Now my community is insisting I work on getting monetized. ☺️
That must have been a huge adjustment for you. What prompted you to move? As long as you are enjoying what you are doing, monetization will come…if that’s what you want. I like challenges and having something to work for. Being a teacher and neurodivergent, part of my brain really loves data. So trying to monetize fills that need to dive in and analyze!
Hello from a fellow teacher! :) Retired from the CA system about seven years ago and moved to Texas. Now looking for something to fill my days.
It's quite hard going from putting out fires every minute of the day (as you're aware we teachers do!) to doing NOTHING.

Hi there fellow teacher! I’m in California too. ☀️😎. I feel the way you describe now…on summer break. Although I’ve done this more than 25 times (transitioned from classroom firefighter to complete stillness at times) it still is hard to know what to do with my time. This summer, I gave myself CZcams! If you’re not already subscribed, consider doing so. I’m building a lovely community of people within a similar age range who offer so much support. Many of my viewers are also newer content creators newly retired or close to it. You’d be warmly welcomed here!
Jen, loved this video. You are on a roll. Here's a thought: you have been journaling since 5 years old. Consider that you have been scripting since you were 5 years old. That means you have at least 250 videos to start with! 5x50=250. That's only 5 videos for each year since you were 5. Given that you have so much more to share, 250 videos is your base number to produce. Also, you have another content video using the 4 questions at the end. Talk about those 4 questions in a separate video. Your monetization is right around the corner.
As always, you deliver! 😉. That thought has crossed my mind. Every couple of years, I read through my journals to allow myself a “life review” of sorts. It helps me to release the past, reminisce, and see where and how I’ve grown emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. There definitely are some entires that would be wonderful stories to share here. Thank you for the reminder and the helpful idea. 🙏✨

I started my channel long time ago but never posted anything. I always thought that it was a young people thing. Therefore, I recommended it to my children as well as to friends’s children.
Last April after recommending it again to a young person I stopped and asked myself why I don’t do it. Well, without a few days I uploaded my first video. Now I have around 50 videos and 25 subscribers.

@@beautifullifesageg.3951 Nature is the best in Finland. Four wonderful seasons. Our family has a big house and a big yard by the forest and the river. And, of course, a wooden sauna outside and a hut.
I feel those retirement goals so much. I’m in my 40s and neurodivergent and I don’t see me slowing down post retirement. I’m writing my first novel this summer and see myself writing, streaming on Twitch, paddle boarding, and continuing my karate journey (I’m currently a purple belt). I have a zest for life that’s always existed and I look forward to seeing what my brain will want me to continue to explore!
Oh my! You are a busy human! In what genre will you write your novel? I have so many ideas running through my brain 🧠 for things I want to do…but they get all jumbled and containing them in a plan feels impossible! lol. 😆
@@beautifullifesageg.3951 I'm writing a cozy murder mystery. I wrote a novel in 2011, but I pantsed the whole thing without a plan and it was awful. This time I'm playing around with outlines and trying to find what works for me. I'm planning on doing some writing sprints on my twitch channel and making content about the process on my CZcams channel to hold myself more accountable. There's a lot of great channels made by neurodivergent writers talking about their process.
Fellow ADHDer here and same here: there won't be a lot of slowing down post retirement 😀 ... What will you stream on Twitch? I am intrigued!
@@annelivingstonart I'm alreading streaming over there. I currently stream my Fortnite games and do free tarot readings while I play. But I'm also going to start doing writing sprints since I'm starting my novel in July.
So sorry about your mom. My Mom in law lived with us for 5 years. Taught MS history. Yes we can engage others. My content deals with disability. Still can’t edit yet, but enjoying the process.

You sound exactly like me! I was 50 and woke up one day and thought "I think I'll make a CZcams channel". 😂 I had no idea I would enjoy it so much! It is a great creative outlet, I'm constantly learning new skills and, as an introvert, it gives me a manageable connection to other people. If you've been thinking about starting a channel, do it, just have a go!

Hi Joann, I just looked at your channel. You have some good content. In looking over your playlists, you have a big hole in your content creation. Your page description notes that you are an autism family. Even in this day and age, there are many people who have little knowledge of autism. I know that you could help a lot of people and other families by creating content that addresses the joys and challenges of living and caring for autistic family members. Do consider at least a playlist of videos that reflect how you and your family have managed this condition with your love, patience, and knowledge.
