Mundare, Alberta - More than Just Devotion to Sausage

- Small towns dot the prairies. We decided to make a pilgrimage to Mundare to check out a famous landmark, and learn about the history of the town. Despite being small, it's had an interesting history and is worth a visit.
Note that the museum tends to be open from Monday to Friday so please plan your trip to avoid disappointment. The other local businesses have variable operation days as well.

The blue bison was really cool. Nice stone work. Love the Blessed Mother Statue and flowers. That’s one big sausage. Could get a couple of meals out of that. lol!!

A small town with BIG history. How lovely to get to hear and learn about Mundare. You have a lovely voice for narration. Clear and very articulate. So much to see and do here Donna. It was a fascinating area to visit and explore, and finally try the sausage that I keep seeing around.
There's a lot more to see than a giant sausage sculpture. It's interesting to see how the settlers lived in the past.👍

Love hearing about the history of this small Canadian town, but that sausage statue is more than impressive haha! Love seeing the monastary. Your descriptions are always fantastic. That cross is impressive too. What a lovely area. Beautiful flowers and lush greenery. Love the photo of the original St Peter and Paul church. I really would love to try a mundane sausage now!! It's not everyday you get to see a giant sausage sculpture. The grotto was beautiful too and overall just a very nice area to walk around and explore.
Wow, that's a big sausage statue! Nice to hear about the history of this small Canadian town, named after William Mundare. Those pioneers were very brave and determined. The painted bison was very cool. Interesting tour of the grotto and learning about the annual pilgrimage. The yellow poppies were beautiful. The murals on the buildings were lovely. Hi Donna. I love the statue of St. basil with the little bird at his feet. This is a nice place to visit with interesting history and it was neat to see the giant sausage and that it can withstand such forceful winds. The grotto is lovely and the flowers are beautiful. It looks like a very nice peaceful place. 👍😊🇨🇦

Got us wanting to try their sausage. Bet it is really good. It is always fascinating how these little communities keep their heritage from where they immigrate from.
Love the history of people and places. You covered the grotto well. The Indigenous people were probably more spiritually aware than the missionaries that came to save them😉

It is impressive how a small business can really put a town on the map and the big sausage is a great hook for tourists. I think the Mundare sausage is usually made with pork, but it's neat to try other types. Have a great day!

Lovely town, but you have to admit the sausage does stand out! Enjoyed seeing some of the art. The grotto is so beautiful and peaceful. It was also nice the old buildings. We enjoyed the tour. Love a tasty mosquito but enjoy sausage a little more!

That is a great idea! I've just spent some time doing some research and can visit the area relatively easily. It might be a while though to get everything edited together.
