    This is an great first entry for Buick. I would just like to see it have better engine options & AWD for next years revision. They'll have an absolute winner if they can get a 4 cylinder in there that can rival what Mazda is doing with their crossover/compact SUV options. The 3 cylinder 1.2L turbo makes it extremely difficult to commit to purchasing it.

    My old Civic coupe was a 1.8 naturally aspirated 4 cylinder with 140hp at 6300rpm and only 128 torque at 4300rpm, both relatively high rpm for the output. By comparison you get 137hp at 5000rpm and 162torque starting at 2500rpm! So much more power immediately on tap in the early rev range. Very clever to tune this for city driving since that will be someone’s experience most of the time. On the other hand, it’s not a GT car and the engine would probably get very whiny at 75 mph on road trips but it’s an ok tradeoff- you know what you are buying.

    • @Mrclavet
      @Mrclavet Před 4 měsíci

      I absolutely agree on this. I traded my 2021 civic 2.0 for this and was a bit worried at first. It actually feels faster then the civic. And for the clueless ppl here saying a 3cyl will break faster… do your research… the number of cylinders will not change anything about the longevity or reliability. Take care of it and it will last just as long as anything else.

    These look very upscale in person. Saw one and thought it was a Lamborghini Urus *Sport* or something. The refresh should address the incandescent brake lights and interior display’s actual screen real estate. Fill out the screen to the edges of the display for a more premium look. The new Chevrolet products have a more upscale infotainment experience than Buick. Buick needs to step it up in that department. Otherwise a very nice affordable premium daily driver. I love that space and comfort you get from this and the new Trax!

    Awesome job again, Sofyan & Company!
    I do like this Buick (though it does mean that whole "near luxury" vibe Buick once had is truly dead) And we're in total agreement about that instrument panel; both Kia and Nissan (and Chevrolet, for that matter) do a much better job. Which is why I can honestly say:
    I'd choose the Trax over the Envista if I were shopping for this GM (I mean, "gm") platform. But as you stated, Toyota has a hybrid Corolla Cross for not much more and with avaliable All-Wheel-Drive. That's what I thought (and hoped) Buick would have offered for the Avenir trim of this otherwise gorgeous Envista 5-door hatchback crossover sedan. Yes, that would have drove the price up to about $33,000, but it would have solidified "Avenir" as a "premium" trim for the brand. Oh well, I guess that's Mazda's job now! 🐰

    If these are found to be reliable after 4 years and some going 20 to 30 thousand miles a year, more will buy them. The previous Trax and Equinox were very unreliable, that does not help the sales of their new designs, but does keep the price lower. Many think the Ford Maverick truck is a better vehicle for the price, both the hybrid and the Ecoboost versions depending on the need for all wheel drive or towing.

      Buick is a GM Chinese "luxury" brand now. All Buicks are made in either China and/or Korea and imported back to USA. Most larger Buicks use a 2L turbo or a 1.5L 4 cylinders-- this 1.2L 3 banger may prove to very problematic since it has quite the history in Europe with deteriorating timing belts before 100,000 miles.

  • @philweiland5391

    They just had to put the dreaded timing belt in oil engine in this car from Peugeot/Daewoo. Many customers with this engine in Europe are getting low oil pressure warnings from a deteriorating timing belt around 90,000 miles - not the 150,000 interval change GM specs. Definitely change your oil every 5000-7500 miles in this car. Don't try to save money by using long 10000 mile oil change intervals.
