THANKS - I created this problem while preparing my old Macbook for sale... Why on earht Apple does make some things so easy but others so f up for users I just don't understand.... When you want to sell an iPhone there is a dedicated function to restore factory settings... but for (older) OS on a Macbook... F... you need to back to school and research like for a thesis on how to do this... Aaaanyway - you helped me get my sleep tonight. CHEERS.
Thank you, sir! I just swapped a motherboard for someone in a MacBook Air, and it was not showing the disk to reinstall MacOS. It sucks that i had to erase the data off of the SSD but I finally able to reinstall MacOS. This was the only was to get around the prohibitory symbol when i turn on the computer.
