Best breakout cvo review
What a beautiful looking bike. If someone had described it to me I wouldn't of been impressed but seeing it's form and detail, it's just bad to the bone beautiful! Great review. Just hearing how much you liked it, you couldn't hide it if you tried, I hope this bike makes its way into your garage! Thanks for sharing and ride safe, bro.
I have a deposit on one of these from 2014. It has only 300 miles and the V/H pipes that make the look and sound even better. Very excited to get it--and even more so after watching your review. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this review and ended up buying a CVO Breakout just like this one, molten silver just like in the review. The only comment I would make relative to what was said about the bikes's somewhat different handling is that the reviewer did not really explain the how and why that is. A bike with a 240 rear and 130 front and different wheel height is not going to handle like what I would call normal. It is going to be quite different and one needs to adjust to it because the steering geometry is somewhat off compared to other models of motorcycles, just understand that it is exactly what it is meant to be and that is a badass cruiser. Except for a better explanation of the handling all of the other points the reviewer makes are spot on and I love riding this bike it really is a lot of fun.
Bernd Willand I just bought a 2014 Breakout CVO and waiting on it to be shipped to my house. Tell me more about the handling and peg scraping issue that I keep hearing about.
I've been hanging on till august when I herd there's no 2015 breakout so i rushed in andgot 1 of the last ones left put Hines 2into2 big rads on sound like a frikin spitfire.I watch ure vid a thousand times with envey not any more.... cheers great review
Haha awesome dude! I bet you have a permanent grin!
I have watched this vid so many times I've lost count, each time it makes me smile. Your passion for this bike is infectious, It's the best advert I can imagine. Hands down the coolest bike (in my opinion), If I could find a way to own this bike, I would! I love your reviews and your personality, keep them coming.
Thanks Mark! Will do!
I really love your comments on this machine! It's so cool to drive, you feel like a king on it. I drive it the Dutch winter through and sofar i love every day on it!
It's one of those weird things, too much chrome actually works on this bike. Those sweet rims and that beastly motor. Definitely the pinnacle of the softail line. Nice review!
Yeah, I'm not a chrome guy, but 100% agree with ya
Thanks Triple X, this is THE bike!!!
One bike to rule them all!
XXXDeadhead, you have a magical way of describing the essence of a motorcycle's personality and how that translates to the rider's emotions while riding it. The boys back in Milwaukee have to be geniuses! Not with hi-tech wizbang hoowa dilliwa's, but the genius of building bikes that provoke all the emotions that riding a bike should give a rider. Harley's simply touch your soul when riding them! The other manufacturers must stay up nights trying to figure this out.
Love your test ride vlogs... More, more, more!
Wow, thanks for an awesome bit of praise! I agree with ya, the ability to make a bike tap into your emotions is definitely an art form that they have created. I have tested out numerous bikes and I am blown away at the feel I get from Harley... However, my next vid is for Victory and I will be honest, I think they may have it figured out as well... not 100% there but close.
I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Victory...
Trying to find time to edit - I have so much bike show footage
XXXDeadhead Well it's comforting to know that we'll see more test ride vlogs from you! Edit, edit, edit... LOL
Unfortunately just one more test ride
I own a 2014 CVO Breakout and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Yes they are expensive but if you add the upgrades, 110 ci motor, ABS, Alarm, heavy breather and all that chrome via aftermarket you're going to get real close to the price tag. I came from a Dyna and it did take a little time adjusting to it. I have no problem going around curves or counter steering.
I don`t know how many times I\ve seen this video now...it`s many!! I am waiting for my bike, With delivery spring 2014.. I`ve ordered the orange one, hopefully I`ll get it. Can`t wait to take a ride.
I could almost feel the open road, while I was watching you ride this dream bike .
Yeah, this was a fun bike for sure!
I'm following a local Harley dealership over here and they were really excited to post on their Facebook when these bad boys were delivered to their shop. Now I can see why, that's a pretty killer machine.
I do not blame them Toast... this bike is wicked
Bought one and u said it all 10 out of 10
I wish we had the demo ride program at this years Dallas show. I miss that when they had it 2 years ago. I am sure this was greatness and that it looks like you could have demo any bike. Awesome.
Yeah, only AZ and CA the last few years... I really wanted to test ride something other than cruisers... Next year I guess!
Nice review dude. I've taken the standard one out for an 11-mile test and was hugely impressed by it.
Sigru Falki I should mention I'm 6' 6" and the bike was sooo comfortable.
It is a fun bike - and I barely noticed any difference in turning with the rear tire. It was there but not as extreme as I imagined
I test drove that bike as well and I feel you hit the nail on the dead. The moment you swing your leg over, you want to go find all sorts of things you were very specifically told not to do, to do. But I see the price a little differently, for me my bike is my primary (currently only) form of transportation, so for me I would rather spend that kind of money on a bike like that, where I just have an insane amount of fun for my daily commute, than a equally priced car that I don't enjoy quite as much. And then just buy a cheap small pick-up to carry things when I really need it. But great video and keep the shiny side up.
Great vid and description of the bike bud!!! :)
Thanks Doc!
As an owner of the Breakout CVO 2013 - very nice review - pretty much same thoughts I had 8) when I first rode it.
У меня тоже CVO 2013 Hard candy color, мотик просто мечта и генератор позитивных эмоций
У меня тоже CVO 2013 Hard candy color, мотик просто мечта и генератор позитивных эмоций
Harley guy who doesn't like chrome?! What madness is this?!
Just kidding man, great review...I'm a sportbike guy but I can totally feel the comfort of that bike. Pretty good looking too
Haha - I know I am a rare breed of rider.
After watching this video, maybe it's time for another Harley... Great review, thanks
Haha totally
Great test ride. I was only looking at this bike online. I agree it oozes rebellious behaviour.
Yes it does - by the time I brought it back to Harley I had already drafted plans for 2 bank vault robberies and a jewel heist! :)
I am dying to find one of these test ride events, at least somewhere near me. Great Video, you have captured the essence of this bike.. Your words show your history of riding.
Thanks dbest1a !
Was gonna post in your flex clamp video.. Or will now.. I ordered one.. Thanks to your stable/good videos
Nice! You will love it!
Watched this video like 10 times already lol, , that bike Man OMG?? I still want the 2014 Street glide
Haha awesome!
damn dude, this model is SO cool!
I have the plain 2014 model
I bet the standard model is fun! Killer looking bikes!
My first Harley was the 2013 Breakout and I loved it! The way it handled and how it looked. Only reason why I don't have today is because the wife loves to go on rides and after a while she was not comfortable on it , so I got myself a 2014 limited. But I do miss the breakout :)
How do ya like your new bike?
I love it. I got the detachable tour pack for it, which I remove when I ride alone and kind of gives it the street glide look :)
Nice!
For $30K they better get it right...LOL Incredible bike...wow...of course I love cruisers. Yea, the theft thing was something I thought about right way, bike is too nice.
I think the show that marshmellowfjr and I are going to this weekend is the same one you went to but, no demos at this show except in Cali and AZ...suks for us.
Great Bike Review xxxDude!
Thanks Klash! Have a great time at the show!
Like we say "Harley its Harley " :)
Love the wheels a bit to shiny but it does looks nice
XXX its in Love :)
Great video
Thumbs up
Thanks bud! I did love it but afraid it is out of my price range for at least another decade!
If I had the money I'd get one, lovely ride.
Yeah - without a doubt
Great review 3Xtroublemaker. What a machine. I loved the Blackline but it is no longer available in Oz. But we get this option instead. Maybe a test ride is in order:)
Do it dude
I have one on order....delivery April
what do you think about the pipes that come standard,
would a set of Vans and Hines add to it?
In the vid you mentioned that you felt this bike fit you well - forward controls and all that. How tall are you? Inseam? Weight?
Awesome! I had hoped you would test drive the Breakout one day
For the Harley brand, it is my favorite bike!
Yeah, its a sexy beast
I actually own one of these. The blaze orange and it's even more gorgeous than the chrome or blue in my opinion. I have put saddle bags on it as well as a quick release windshield. I was leery at first about the windshield but it actually does not take away from the bike. The options that are available to add to these are VERY limited (according to the harley parts catalog) but they all go very will with the bike and are all quick release as well.
I agree though 10 out of 10, love the bike.
Yeah - fantastic bike you have! Jealous!
I own the blaze orange...everywhere i go someone comes up and complements me on how badass it is...love mine
Great review broski!! Did you happen to test ride a 2014 Road King by any chance?
Wow I wish man! I saw every 2014 at the dealer Nd just sat on it,, wish I could takem out,, I want the streetbob l! Softail slim or the street glide! Still deciding but I will trade in couple of month's
You don't like your Iron?
Check out this Demon that was raised in harsh conditions before finally being dipped in molten Chrome!
I test rode this one also, very nice!
Were you tempted to not get off the bike? :)
I was tempted to take it home with me! haha. Actually, If I had the money, I probably would have left with a night rod special, loved that bike! And it may be my graduation present to myself
Yeah, nightrod special is badass
That is a very nice looking bike. I don't really like chromed tanks, because the sun reflection will make you blind. :) 30 k is a little to rich for me, but if money was no object, I can see myself owning one.
haha yup.... it sucks you in regardless of rational thought!
i owned a 2014 Breakout 103 with stage1 and bassani exhaust 2 into 1 system it'll surprise you
I put a down payment on one today! Can't wait!!! June 6th!
How is it?
XXXDeadhead Honestly one of the best motorcycles I've ever had the pleasure to ride. Unreal power and it just feels like it's glued to the road. Once you get past the minimal resistance in the turns, it becomes a bike that you can throw into turns like you were born on it. Just amazing. Putting a pair of Vance & Hines Big Radius 2 into 2 on it this week which should open an entirely new world of power (and a little well needed noise) just in time for bike week... Love this bike! BTW, it was your video that made me commit to the purchase. You very obviously loved it as well. That sold me. Thanks for that!
FatSlappyHappyPappy
Awesome - great bike for sure! So jealous now!
Okay, you must've laughed your ass off when that guy came up and said "Ugly air cleaner" and pointed at it.
Haha yeah
It looks like a sweet ride...
I'm not fond of chrome either. Chrome looks good when clean but is a pain to keep shiny. Also, I find on sunny days chrome tends to cause bright reflections back into my eyes.
***** Absolutely right - However, I think the chrome on the tank was a little dulled out for this reason...
Curious your thoughts between the HD Breakout and the VRod night Rod special. Similarities and differences. I'm still researching the night Rod special but the breakout is growing on me. Thanks for what you do. Be safe
From what I can remember both handled about the same - basically it is an aesthetics choice - check ground clearance and lean angles. Also, two different engines I believe.
Loved the revue the bike but not the price. You could get two bikes for that much, & two's better than one. It did look like a nice riding bike What was that some manufacturers show with all those different makes? I wish they'd have something like that here. i could spend all day riding different bikes, Love it!
Rob - the price at the time seemed like nothing.... however I was under the influence of love haha... You are absolutely right, the price tag is insane for what you get. Yeah, this was a motorcycle show that is held once a year on Fri/Sat/Sun
I could see myself on that ride for sure. Of course funding might be an issue but if I were Calculus genius I probably could figure out a way. It must have been overwhelming just to ride something like that. I would not mind having one of those in may imaginary garage sitting next to Star Vmax, Sportster and just maybe an R1 for a little change of pace, in that order of course.
Haha, yeah the funding issue is a pain in the butt!
its a very clean bike, not a big fan of chrome and that is a lot. Maybe if it was the black chrome it would be more to my interest. Over all still a nice bike, so lucky to ride it sure you got a lot of looks....
Mikie - the chrome on the bike was more of a black chrome of sorts... was just a opaque sort of translucents
whoo boy, that thing is a horse, isn't it? Nice vid.
I'm not into chrome either, but that looked spectacular. You do all the fun stuff!! Where do you find these places for test riding bikes?
It is a show that swings through my area once a year.... I bet you guys have one as well!
I need your help. Your reviews of cvo breakout and xdiavel have helped me, however. If you had to choose cvo pro street breakout vs xdiavel s. I know you like both. What should i get man.
Hmm - that's a tough one to answer. I think that the XDiavel is my choice only because I tour only a few times a year and have a ton of twisty roads near my house. The breakout will have more options today for touring - both can handle the miles just fine. Two great choices to be stuck with!
That bike looks like a beast, except the the beach bars they put on it. Should have went with something more like a drag bar but bent back from the riser a bit.
I didn't think I would like the beach bars, but they fit the bike well!
I agree drag bars would look and probably feel much better...nice bike all in all...
Just test rode a 2016 model, my first experience of riding a Harley and wow what a ride :) next demo is a wide glide and street bob :)
Nice - breakout is a blast. Also, check out the Night Rod Special if it appeals to your tastes.
Yeah definitely worth a test ride, gonna test as many bikes as I can. On looks the wide glide is probably my fave at the minute but haven't test rode it yet. The only down side i see in the majority of the Dyna's is the forward controls but I think its something I'd get used too after awhile.
+BlackCountry Biker testing a bike tomorrow that you might be interested in - Ducati XDiavel
Ahh awesome :) you gonna be putting a video up of the test ride?
+BlackCountry Biker if it records :)
Just bought the 2013 Breakout with 800 miles two weeks ago. It came with the V&H Big Radius Exhaust and PM Air cleaner. Your review and first impressions made a difference. Dude, have you considered repurposing your content for podcasts?
I have thought about doing a weekly podcast but it will have to wait till I graduate school as I have little time to do anything but study and work
what would you prefer, a Vrod NRS or the breakout ? very nice review, thx a lot
Great question - most likely I would pick the NRS - because of the lean angle difference. I would not enjoy the 5 speed transmission, or the lower fuel economy of the NRS though.
Looks like a fun bike. How did you like the hydraulic clutch (I'm not usually a fan of bikes with a hydraulic clutch)?
Boarder989 - Honestly, I did not nottice much of a difference to what I am used too.
I don't like the profile of that front tire - it's too flat. The reviewer says the bike resists counter steering inputs, which I believe confirms my worries. Flat tires are for cars, bikes need a constant contact patch at all angles of lean (in front at least), anything other then a round front tire will, I believe, be worse.
At 1:23 you say, "But I'm not really liking that setup though..." What were you referring to?
My gopro
Ah! Afterward I thought that might be it. I hadn't bought it yet and I thought you might have found some kind of design flaw. But, now that I have one, there's no such flaw. :)
Towards the end you say this bike makes your Sportster look like a chump. I would like to disagree. The Iron Sportster (ok, minus the suspension) has a more relaxing, linear operational dynamics over the Breakout. The Breakout's motor decelerates faster and makes for rpm surges when shifting. Finding neutral was frustrating and seeing the neutral light and turn signals from that small indicator sliver amide all the chrome is hard to see in the sun. Making a turn is like driving a bus. I'll take my Sportster over this bike! I've been watching your videos and love the way you describe the ride experience with an emotional reality that captures a bike's personality. I rode a Breakout 3 weeks ago at my dealer's demo days. I currently own an iron Sportster as you do.
The feeling of the bike made mine feel like a chump - a lot of this was based on the size, but also from the pull of the Hp/Torque combo on this bike. I have the 1200 big bore on my sporty, and I still have no inclination (in retrospect) to change into anything else. Love the Sporties!
The wicked grin fades to a snarl when at 5'6" I can't reach the handlebar :(.
Noooooooo! Change bars or reduced reach seat or both!
XXXDeadhead Thanks for vid, what do you think for 2 person? Long ride..?I would like enjoy this bike with my wife as well .Cheers
Absolutely
Yup! Thanks bud
My favorite thing on this bike is the wheels.
Yeah - they are epic looking!
Ive been eyeballing this bike. I saw one with ape hangers and it was sooo bad ass. Im 6'2". How tall are you and would it be too small for me. It looks small. I will see if you have a video of a test ride of a Heritage.
I'm 5'10 - it would not be small for ya
im 6-4 and 245 pounds, only harley ive ever found to be too small for me is the sportster lineup and some small dynas,
Yeah, I could see that - forward mounted controls are kind of required at that size
Cool. Thanks guys.
How come you didn't really gun it? You should have brought it down to maybe 30 or so mph in 1st, and gunned it to 3rd gear.
Not really sure - was just focused on staying in the route and dealing with traffic
Thanks for telling us so much about the bike, NOT? Engine size, 110 cubes? Muscle into corners because of the WIDE rear tyre, and likely length and fork rake? It's a Full Screaming Eagle 110 Harley, of course it's going to perform better than your 1200 Sporty? My 96 cube Soft tail will as well, but won't even look at my mates CVO Springer, which has the same 110 cube Screaming Eagle motor? One day he'll sell it, and i'll be waiting, cash in sweaty hand.
LOL - fairly sure I called the video a 'Test Ride' and not 'Info I could have easily looked up on HD's website'... Sorry this wasn't what you were looking for, I can only assume this happens to you a lot.
Now, if you would like to re-visit sanity and polite discourse, then this is the channel for you. ride safe
Ahh, can't respond to TheRealJBS and AKDeluxeRider :(
That is not Chrome. It is hand polish steel that has been clear coated. The paint would not hold to the Chrome.
$30,000?? Wow
Where the heck is this demo ride taking place? No caravan of Harley's being led by Harley rep for a 15 min ride?
I don't think I could bring myself to justify a bike that is essentially fun in a straight line. Your passion for the Breakout is cool, but looking past inferior handling characteristics is the challenge in relating to a large percentage of the cruiser mentality. And for that amount of stacks? I don't mind spending some, but I just don't feel it if I'm scraping pegs. Keep the reviews coming though. Fun stuff.
Spectrolux - now that the instant high has worn off... I absolutely agree... But, sit on that bike and feel the torque tug at your soul and you might find yourself thinking otherwise as well!
That super fat rear tire doesn't help the cornering. It's all about the look.
I want to ride so bad it hurts
:(
Hey watching ur vid lets me ride :)
:)
Brett wales
so much chrom
Yes, almost as if it was raised in a boiling vat of chrome :)
Harley fan much? $30k...WTF? If I had $30k to spend on a bike, it would be an Indian and then go on a road trip with the $$ tht I saved.
