Nah that's actually true. Haitian Americans who do not speak creole a lot always sound like this. I am from Canada and I lived in the french part all my life. When the family used to go to the USA new-work, new-jersey almost every summer, my older cousin and many kids use to have that accent.
it almost never changes It's probably because the parents speak creole but they took the habit of replying in English + constantly speaking English with each other. In the end, they hand up having a creole English accent. they often have the same accent when they speak french it's like an English dude who speaks french it's very funny lol. Even in Spanish sometimes. it's like that English accent refuses to let go lol.
