Bellissimo e molto utile grazie
Two days, two videos, thank you)
Wonderful I just spent days re-profiling and sharpening 2 out-cannel gouges I think I would rather have a in-cannel now I am going to have to do it all over thanks for showing how you do it.
Hello my name is Marcelo Franco I'm from Brazil, great vídeo my friend.
I was scheptical when you put a front bevel on then bowl gouge, then I realized you repurposed the gouge into a beautiful carving tool. It’s just amazing your skill as a craftsman. Great!
A great video dear
Good looking tool, Stavros! When the Grandkids stayed at the house, We always left Beer and pretzels, instead of milk and cookies. ST. Nik loved it at our house!
Two new Stavros videos back to back....thats an early Christmas present itself. Thanks
Very good video thanks. Full of fresh ideas for restoring old gouges.
Fajna częstotliwość filmów.
Aż czuć zbliżające się święta :>
Nothing but the best!!!
Love it!!!
❤️🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Waouh, ça coupe !!! Magnifique.
5:07 - beautiful shape !
This Christmas holiday I'll make a sturdy bench for my small Record lathe that I bought earlier this year.
Then I'll teach myself to use it and I too can make good handles like this for my tools.
And I can learn to make chairs, and tables with turned legs, and ....
I'm looking forward to next year !
Genialnie jak zwykle 👏
Rewelacyjna robota! 💪❤
Wow. Santa guessed the exact handle pattern and wood you normally use! Unbelievable luck.
Very nice and handy tool! Great videography and editing as well!
Another great tool you've made
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Kozacka robota. Brawo.
Another video well done, thank you for your inspiring skill share.
Jak zawsze.Pięknie.Pozdrawiam.A ten Santa to też ma fach w rękach.
Stavros - Beautiful build! I threw together a quick forge last night before a night shift with charcoal, fire brick, and a hair dryer to harden a cutter... forgot to temper... oven is heating as we speak :) Thanks for always inspiring! Good health to you and yours!
Thanks a lot Todd!
At the end, I was screaming... be careful, or you will cut your ash off!... lol Brother, I love every minute. Thanks!
What a way to start the day awesome 👌 👏
I have a whole bunch of EA Berg chisels from sweden that i love with the little shark on them. I found them at a garage sale.
Superbe .
Bravo
Looks nice great job!
Yeaah! Two videos in a row!
always great inventiveness
I really enjoying your video it was real and i like the test of that gouge chisel when hitting the hard wood the sound is amazing 👍👍
Thanks a lot!
@@StavrosGakos youre most welcome bro 🙏😎
Nicely done. Thank You
Kolejne wspaniałe narzędzie uratowane od huty :)
Fantastic job my friend 👏👏👏
Nice video 👍👍
Nothing like Christmas to bring out the boy in a man. Hmm, maybe I should be writing one for a larger bandsaw. ENJOY!
I thought he was asking for an annealing oven…
That's a beautiful gouge you got there, Made by E.A. Berg in Sweden. It could be very old. I have never seen a tang like that on one of their gouges. Great job!
Thank you!
Thank you! I learned some things.
You're welcome Mike :)
Another splendid video ! Inchannel
Chisels are extremely hard to find .
Not in England
Nice video, it's a carving in-cannel gouge you made. the exact shape but around 17 to 20 inch long, a woodturning gouge is used by the professional turners of Pakistan. this in-cannel gouge
is the only tool these turners use, from start to finish. from rounding to finish piece .
after they finish honing the edge, they take a round steel bar 3 to 4 mm thick, like a screwdriver can also be used. they press the edge with it, firmly and even pressure of hand, from the outside of the bevel edge, from one end to the other. pressing the steel bar on the edge, from outside at a 45 angle. this technique will bend the burr of edge inwards and will cut wood like butter. i haven't seen any such gouge used by western turners till now. I'm a member of many woodturning groups on facebook. hope you find this interesting .. lolls
Thanks! So they make a scrapers, nic to know about it. Thanks!
You should draw some circles on the Velcro sander so you can position the sandpaper easier
Hey, you're welcome Luiz!
looks like an erik anton berg gouge, great tool.
BELISSIMO, PARABENSSSSSSSSSS
Fantastic
Merry Christmas Stavros. 🎄

Good quality in the iron..
i love your videos by the way..
Thank you Magnus!
Nicely done as always. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful work, as always.
2 in a day :D thanks Stavros
You're welcome Andrew :)
Another video that fast? You are spoiling us 😁
I hope 😊
Great!
Nice Eskilstuna chisel..
At first I read “coco beer”... anyway, Santa was very kind. And it’s not even christmas yet
What a great tool that will be!
Gracias stavros
Comment and question. First it is so nice to see you settled in the new place and making videos again. Question: what is the benefit of having the bevel on the inside? My gouges have the bevel on the outside and I put a small secondary bevel on the inside to make it stronger.
Thanks a lot Bryan! It is only my personal preference. Nothing more. I feel that i do my work better with incannels. Regards!
Those intending to follow this example - be careful, and check before you invest a lot of time.
Some chisels are made with applied steel; in an axe the steel is inserted between the cheeks, so that it forms the cutting edge. In a chisel (and older plane blade) the steel is laminated onto the face. The rest of the tool is soft iron.
IF THIS technique is used for a gouge, only the original edge (be it incannel or outcannel) can be hardened. You CANNOT cannot repurpose it.
(The Berg in the video appears to be hardenable steel throughout)
Hey Paul! You have absolutely right - laminated tools are good only with existing high carbon steel. Without it they are not to use. Regards!
You've had a few videos in which you harden soft steel blades. Could you do one where you talk about the process explicitly, explaining exactly what you're doing and why? It's very interesting to see that you are so successful with this using home equipment.
Thanks David! I just trying keep to few simple rules, you can read about it in many sites/books/etc. Hardening is not something special for me, i don't want to make another video about it, yt is full of it:) Regards!
I need a gouge!
What sort of grinding wheel you used for the inside grinding please? (Shown from side only:(((
Standard or is it some sort of profiled/thin one?
Thanks and great video.
Ps.:nice kitchen😇
Hey, thanks! It was thin stone for chain sharpening 👍
Any chance you could show how you would sharpen a V gouge ? I really enjoy your videos and especially the ones of late where you are talking. Cheers from the good ole USA.
Hey Rich! Sorry but i don't own any.. Cheers:)

Swedish steel 👌🦈
Super!
To trudna sztuka.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie
Adam
Nice !;-)
you had a visit from Insanity Clause!
Hi from Pakistan...
I want one
Good ☺👍👍
Thanks!
Hello, your video are wonderful.
Could you tell me the brand of the gouge in this video?
Thanks.
Thank you! Somebody write in the comment that it is Berg gouge. Regards!
Odpaliłeś starą kuźnię? Nooo panie :-000
Musiałem ;)
Jeszcze tylko kowadło, trochę czasu i robić samemu...
Very good! Kkkkkkkkk
Thanks!
:) Pozdrawiam serdecznie! :)
Również pozdrawiam :)
Christmas early! Any more videos hidden up those Santa sleeves?
Only Santa knows :)
👍👍👍
👍🙏☕☕☕🤝🇮🇩
Wow. How did you know that I’m doing this right now?
Santa told me ;)
As you were grinding the inside bevel, you were cooling the blade in water. Since you were going to reharden and temper the blade, why was the cooling necessary?
I thought the same then realised it was probably getting too hot to handle.
I make cooling always because i don't want to burn the cutting edge. I know that some people say that it doesn't matter before hardening, but i don't. If you burn the edge the steel is not homogeneous. Normalizing can repair it but not with every kind of steel. That's why i am careful. Secondly the burned edge makes the whole work uncomfortable :)
You got the point also, it can't be too hot to hold 👍
To wąski kamień do ostrzenia pił łancuchowych
Tylko trochę strach rozhartować tę delikatną krawędź.
Wszystko z głową i nie rozhartujesz.

What kind of beer???
Pilsner👍
Good🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
Why not make a chisel triangle outside and inside?
But how? :)
@@StavrosGakos Just need a chisel plane and a angle grinder to make a triange inside and outside
W całym procesie widzę jeden błąd.
Mogłeś upiec bułki dla rodziny w czasie odpuszczania.
That's a Berg turning gouge, not so common to find!
@@WinkenBlinkenAndNod I would love to find one myself... One day 🦈🇸🇪
It’s about a quarter of a Berg turning gouge.
Hey, i don't understand
this is not adviced to do to old tools. If it's hand forged, so will it only have steel on one side. + grinding away that mutch material puts the tool at risk of getting blued. Bluing happens when the metal gets heated up to a point where the hardening of the steel goes away. thus making the tool incapable to hold an edge. Knowledge from a blacksmith.
Thanks! There was enough high carbon steel to make it once again. But you have right, laminated tools are not good for it. Regards
BẠN CÓ BÁN SẢN PHẤM KHÔNG
Hey, please read description. Regards
Wystarczająco ostre.
I got bad news for you , there is no santa . The loves one give as a presents and gifts . Its time to grow up ;D
;(
@@StavrosGakos it dos not mean that you will stop buy new to(ys)ols :D

baa humbuggers; GO HOME
Then where did the handle and the beer come from?
The person does not understand what he is doing. The turning chisel is transformed into an incomprehensible tool. :((
