"I always thought that when I got into this industry that I was going to have to hide all that. That I was going to have to play down my Asian-ness and play down my queerness," Santos said. "But to be a part of not only Superstore, but also of this movie where not only am I included -- but I’m celebrated? It’s monumental." - Sport

And He had a bigger part in the film whereas, Kris was just a filler for a scene
exactly! and his role was lengthier and one of the crucial roles in the story.

This is very true! He has more highlight moments/scenes in the said film than K.Aquino! His more is far more vital that the latter
Finally the real one that has much more exposure than Kris Aquino and yet doesn’t get recognition. I am a fan too of Kris but I strongly believe that Nico deserved the same as Kris in recognition, support and love from fellow Filipinos all over the world! He is adorable and played his part on this move so so well! Ahh the accent, I can’t even begin with how fabulous Nico is.
Nico and Awkwafina would be hilarious together in their own movie! Lovin' the jacket, Nico!

It's interesting how his English accent changes a bit when he talks to fellow Filipinos compared to when he speaks to non-Filipinos.

I was on a flight to the Philippines when I watched Crazy Rich Asians.
I fell in love with the movie and watched it over and over until I landed in Manila.
To my surprise, my cousin told me the Oliver cousin - Rainbow Sheep of the family character is actually FILIPINO.
To me, Nick Santos getting this part is a VICTORY because I watched other short docs about the movie and I learned that some actors were turned down or REJECTED if they are not Chinese or part Chinese.
Even tho the Oliver character is a small part, he was very MEMORABLE and comparable to the EDNA character from Disney's The Incredibles.
I think he did a FANTASTIC job.
I love this interview and clips of him on the red carpet because showed that HE IS Filipino and proud.
My jaw dropped when he spoke in Tagalog. How COOL is that!
I thought his accent in the movie was real.

I know the movie was important but I hate how racist the movie was. They promised an ALL-ASIAN cast but got us an ALL-CHINESE cast. Kinda tells you a lot of their idea of Asian.
