TIP from a florist - cut the flowers before you put them into vase 0 under water. They won't suck up air and reduce life! Also, recut them as soon as you look them over and add more water. Recut just a small portion off and you'll give them a fresh straw tip to drink up the water. Also, always cut off any leaves that are under the water to reduce rotting leaves that will reduce water quality for your flowers. Hope this helps with your beautiful flower arrangements.

In my humble opinion, it is much better for your plants to use a knife or pruners to harvest so much of your vegetables. Twisting and pulling the vegetables may cause significant damage to the plant. Personally, since your peppers seem to be struggling; i would pick the largest fruit on each plant to reduce stress. They should then be stimulated to produce more flowers and more peppers and it will help the plants grow stronger especially if fertilized again.

I agree she's way too rough harvesting the plants. I watch other gardeners and they are patient, meticulous to give the plant a chance to regrow and stay healthy. I'm learning to give my plants the best results. If you create the garden with love why not give it , love and patients during harvest. It is amazing what she has grown already. Plus get comfi, put shorts, hat, gloves and this brutal heat will be nicer to you. Rushing not in the moment just ruins the experience for me.

You've inspired me to go back to my "roots"...pun intended 😂
I have a plethora of physical disabilities after breaking my neck and lower back. It stopped me from gardening. All my life I had a garden. My love of it began with my Late Grandfather and my Late Father. As a young child, my Grandpa would take me through his garden and show me the plants and how to harvest them.
After my accident, I was in recovery for a very long time. Then depression also made me not want to do anything. I'm a loyal subscriber and never miss your uploads and you planted (pun intended) a fire 🔥 under me bum to get out and get back into what I truly love. Although it's a difficult task because my torso doesn't bend or twist, I'm doing it. I have a small vegetable garden and have several different flower species to bring in the pollinators. Today I found my first couple of jalapeños and some tiny tomatoes growing. I also have a few cucumbers on my vines. Although I move slow and some days it's impossible, i gotta say Thank You Becky for lighting that fire and bringing that joy back into my life.
There's no better reward for all this hard work when you see vegetable on your plants and flowers in bloom!
Sending positive vibes and blessings from Northern Indiana 👩‍🌾🍅🥒🫑🌻🌸

Hi My dear girl! A important message for your followers…..that pruning tomatoes is NOT advised in all areas! Here in drought ridden with over a month of triple digits temps here in west Texas. Well we let our tomatoes keep their branches, vines and leaves to prevent sun scald and be a living mulch that assist with keeping precious water from evaporating. The secret here is do not touch your tomatoes. Met a broken hearted first time gardener here and she had nearly naked tomatoes with sun scald on Her tomatoes, and rest of vines withered and dying Bless her! It’s hard gardening here in Texas and have been all of my 64 years.

You mentioned a tape gun for helping to trellis tomatoes, and we spent about $30 or $35 this year and got a good one! Just a tip - if the tomato plant stalk gets much bigger around than your thumb, it will need SEVERAL taped spots (on each stalk) to keep it on the trellis. Works well for peppers and beans, too.

I mix my different types of lettuce all together then I line my large bowl with a towel, put all the lettuce on top of towel then cover the lettuce with another towel if needed, put the lid on bowl.
I find it stays fresh so much longer. Then if we want a salad we grab our bowel of lettuce. Then all I need is to add the rest of my ingredients.

Over the years I have become sensitive to the oils on tomato plants. I now keep Lava soap on my kitchen sink during garden season. It is slightly abrasive and helps get all of that tomato gunk off my hands and arms after working in the tomatoes. When it is really dark I usually wash my hands twice to get it all off. Hope that helps you!

When you harvest cabbage, leave about an inch of stalk. Cover the stalk with a folded wet (wrung out) paper towel and secure it with a rubber band. Put it in a porous bag I poke holes in my gallon freezer bags. These will last for months and months in the frige produce drawers. I always plant more than I can use!

Great harvest. Really, any harvest this year is a feat..this garden was a work in progress right into the planting season so kudos to you for getting plants in the ground! One piece of advice, you should cut when you are harvesting (instead of pulling, twisting and tugging), you will reduce trauma to the plants. Basil especially will yield a huge crop if you harvest while pruning it correctly.

Stressed chickens lay small eggs. They were let out to roam then locked up in a small pen. I’d be unhappy too. Try more attention, more treats and things to peak their interest, food in ice cubes etc. Also, tip from a gardener, don’t pull off stems on flowers or green or veggies, keep a scissors or clippers out by the garden. Doing that will stress the plants.
