- NARROW ESCAPE - our narrowboat life adventure. In this episode, we leave Ellesmere Port and head towards Chester. We can only assume that today's cruise will feature a fight or two with the glorious pennywort weed that blighted our trip to Ellesmere Port. We really don't want to get stuck though so wish us luck!

Pennywort is edible you should have saved a few tonnes of it on the roof as you've plenty of room as no chopped tree trunks to pick up off the towpath eh....
Loved that last bit of footage glad you caught a penny farthing being ridden proper new one that is nice to ride I bet all be it high in the saddle..

Noted that the housing estate was the largest in Europe. My posting as Station Commander at Gipton Fire Station on the east side of Leeds had the most densely populated area in Europe. We had just over 2,000 car fires a year plus all the other fires and special service incidents. About 5,000 calls a year.
I was there for 5 years and loved every minute.

Question for you, and a serious one at that…why were there so many car fires at Gipton, or is 2,0000 (!!!!!!) a year ‘normal’?? 🤔🤔
@NarrowEscape1 No, it is not normal. They probably get around 200 car fires a year now. There were many reasons why youths reacted so badly around 1993/98.
Social deprivation, poor education and sporting facilities, you could go on.
We had to attend normal one pump shouts with three pumps. One to fight the fire and the other two to stop gear being stolen and bricks being thrown at the cew and appliances. It wasn't easy, but gradually we got the youths to appreciate what we were trying to do and not be their adversary. The police had less success.

Good morning to you both! Myself and my husband have watched every vlog and really look forward to each new one. Unfortunately we are only able to take narrow boat holidays due to other commitments so we’re quite envious!! Always thoroughly enjoy each one but still wondering if you live permanently onboard and if so what was it that led to that decision (without wanting to pry in to your personal lives) as it’s something we have contemplated doing but unsure if we could give up having a house to fall back on is a better option for us. Keeps found what you’re doing -please! As you give such a great insight as to what life can be x Sonya and Paul Dinsdale

It’s an awkward one because boat prices don’t necessarily move like house prices, plus outside forces like CRT funding affects boat life so if you didn’t keep bricks and mortar back in some fashion (think Fran & Rich tried holiday rental for a while) then you could potentially get caught out 😬
