- Morguer's Office - Part 3
"Um...Mr Morguer? I know we're in a creepy business, digging up bones and stuff. But Sir - that's the most terrifying thing I have ever heard you say" 😬
#Oddworld #Cinematic #CutScene #OddworldSoulstorm
I love that the slig’s sort of know that they are in a super evil business even by Oddworld standards, but still do their jobs anyway lol
With their oddly sadistic personality, comes to no surprise really.
I'm sure it's not too different from reality. I know having nigh Infinite money does a lot to divorce a CEO from the common man's reality, but surely it's not enough to make them forget that most of the decisions, that they make in favour of profit, only negatively impact their subordinates
They are pretty much slages who get paid themselves unfortunately
There are self aware US soldiers who go on about carrying imperialism too.
The thing is, sligs know they're two things
In demand and secure.
At their core, despite having numbers, they're very insecure and cowardly. That, I think, makes them what they are. A bit like the grunts from halo, they're removed from their element and sent in waves as little more than a resource to fight a war they only have interest in for their own security which along with it comes their development of sadism to compliment their insecurity.
Ironically, despite their raw power, they hide behind armless, spineless, legless creatures simply because they're bigger, richer, and more powerful.
They make a spectacular design and are well written characters, much like everything in oddworld.
It's my favorite fictional universe.
Steefs are the coolest fucking thing ever too.
I love how this story goes.
Because, no. That's not what happened. The bad guys genuinely don't know what's going on.
Rupture Farms wasn't an inside job. The brew is working as it should. Nothing happened. The conspiratorial nature of these shady businessmen is blinding them, they're so used to betraying each other that the idea of a revolt isn't even a thought.
"we expect glucks to be greedy, hell we even bank on it".
God I love oddworld so much.
Reminds me of the anime Overlord where everyone thinks the MC is playing 4d chess but isn't.
@@AstroBlastard Like, dude is seriously just chilling, all these mfs trying to come up with plans to kill him and he just goes "Ah, good memories, I used those skills too back when I was lvl 5."
to be fair. the purpose of the brew is to prevent revolts. if a revolt is happening then that implies that the brewmasters brew is not doing what it is supposed to do
They’re also blinded by the belief that no mudokken can ever outsmart a glukkon so they don’t even entertain the idea
The reflection on the pupils are the small details I like in a game
thats not hard to do , you make that piece of the model reflective and put a light infront of them LOL
@@durtydawg3130 did I say it's hard?
@@durtydawg3130it's not about it being hard, it's about presence of detail that people could care not to put.
It was a nice "detail" and that's all there is to it.
Does that mean he can see in the dark?
Because most animals that can see UV light have those reflections on their eyes
@@turtleninja16tn66 that's true, maybe they can? I'm not sure, I didn't play the remake
He was definitely flattered.
Hmm idk, seems more like the prospect of the brew failing them was more terrifying than anything
As someone who’s never played the games, nor do I particularly enjoy the genre.. watching just the cinematics was one of the best movies I’ve seen in years.
Agreed they need to do a movie about this 😂
Same here. Never played any of the games, and from what I've seen of the game-play I'm not sure if it's really for me, but these cinematics and the story they tell is remarkably entertaining.
If they made a movie about this, I'd watch it.
I miss old game cinematics like this one, they really were like movies, I never played this game but the cinematics alone are mesmerizing just like halo 2 was.
Oddworld manages to perfectly nail the silly-to-creepy-to-serious balance, especially with the Glukkons and the Sligs. Game's fantastically odd.
I like how this guy questions if Molluck did burn down his own farm. He he knows something is going on, but cannot put his finger on why.
Considering the all consuming desire for Moolah that all Glukkons have, believing Molluck torched his own facility as some kind of Insurance Fraud to get rich is entirely plausible. XD
I can’t remember if the factory was doing well or if they weren’t doing well leading to the new mudoken pops. Which would be another reason to burn it down.
@@addictedfoolgamer1970 The problem with Rupture Farms was it was too successful - as in they'd depleted most of the edible creatures to near extinction so they had nothing to sell.
Hence the plan to turn Mudokons into food.
(Which in hindsight is kinda hilarious as the Glukkons seem to have forgotten they've doped up all thier "cattle" on Soulstorm brew which is highly addictive and would likely just poison or give thier addiction to whoever ate the meat.)
@@Makorze Haha that's it! Well it would keep the wheels of commerce going.
At lest he knows he's the bad guy and reminding his boss 😂
I won't lie the sligs VA sounds like something out of Henry stickmin series 😂
I could never understand how they smoke their cigars with no arms yet they always have a cigar lit either in a ashtray or in their mouth
Their legs are where our arms are
And their manipulating limbs are from where a human would have legs attached
they hide them in their clothing
They have arms. They walk with them.
They are reverse T-rexs. Long arms and short almost vestigial legs.
I haven’t played soulstorm yet but I’m really hyped as I’ve booked a week off work just to play throughout this experience
I always liked the framing of Molluck as "the meanest boss in the world"
Morguer came the closest to how I wanted him to be seen in this game. Impossible to predict in his cunning (i.e Mudokon pops) respected among his peers for how his ruthless mind raked in moolah.
While this narrative was being pushed, his Gluk peers all struggle to understand his "true play"
It must be a plan, a pitch..But what is it?
Morgruer has to be one of the smartest Glukkons to ignore Magog propaganda.
Still died because he didn't pay his soldiers properly.
@@genegear-nd9ut Rookie mistake. The same one the Romanov's made IRL.
Never, *ever* short the muscle.
I love how because they don’t have arms, they have pedals at their desks for mundane things like answering and hanging up the phone
Actually they walk on their hands because they have tiny legs
They have arms they are used as legs to walk as there actual legs are tiny and useless. They don’t use their arms as it basically status of superiority and power of being free of doing labor and having your voice or others beings and tech do the work for you.
If you knew about odd world since the PS1 days you’re a real one and I salute you.
been into the verse off and on since strangers wrath if that counts. Though its my best friend who owned it, I was just along for the awesome ride
I actually played it a bit in daycare as a kid in the games room, but considering how young I was I had literally no clue what it was or what I was doing. My brain only connected the dots back to those old memories when I stumbled upon CZcams videos talking about the Oddworld series.
yep one of my very first games, which also got me into games in general and honestly absolutely adore it!
This game has such a cool vibe.
Im worried alot of people dont know this game such a gem of games
Name?
@@Josher126 oddworld
Odd world Soulstorm
Good thing I took my mornin’ brew
Sligs comment to the Morguer is on the same self-aware level as "Are We The Baddies?".
. . . . .imagine being hung up on by the other persons foot.
Technically it's his hand
This game reminds me of something from the 2000s. It's just so creatively pure and carefully made. Very unique.
i mean the original one came out in 97 and they wanted the games to feel the same as it since they fell off making one that played different.
@@zacharypendragon49 Oh really? Well, then it makes sense. You wouldn't find something like this today. Everything seems soulless to me these days.
They really did Oddworld Justice with the new game, it looks so freaking good
This glukon looks more human than the others.
This one of my favorite games growing up and i never beat it 😂 maybe its time i find it and beat it
Always wondered why they have no arms. Guess its a stylistic choice or some weird symbol of power…
Google Glukkon with no suit to see why, they stand on their hands.
Their "legs" are actually their arms, they walk around on their hands. Their legs are actually tiny and shriveled and folded up under those coats.
They do have arms, they walk on them and their suits are made like hoopskirts.
@@beastwarsFTW ohhh…
Gross…
They're aliens, you can see concept art they walk on their arms
I like how the brewmaster's opinion on everything is kind of a mix between morguer's and asliks
Morgur looks more like a cuttlefish than an octopus like most gluckons
hangs up phone with his foot but leaves his cigar on the desk XD
The ambient music is perfect. So sinister, so foreboding and so tense
I love oddworld none of the characters talk normal or even speak in a normal human voice. They all have a sort of sluggish voice that makes it seem that they all have a cold and makes them talk funny, essentially reaffirming you that this is oddworld and no one is ever normal
Is soulstorm a game one can just pickup without needing to play any of the other games in the series or is it recommended I play any others first?
You might not want play the previous ones, but you might want to look into the story and lore of the previous ones. Oddworld gameplay style isn't for everyone, but the story is freaking incredible.
@@rickrogan2355 thanks! I will check it out. These shorts have me massively intrigued
It catches you up pretty quick, especially as characters like Morguer here are trying to catch up to what happened in the last game, which was less than 24 hours ago in universe.
You might wanna play New & Tasty or Abe's Oddysee for story context, but it's not super critical. They do drop enough context in the story to help you figure things out.
New 'n tasty or Abe's Oddysee will give you story beats (the former is a remaster of thw latter), but the game teaches you just fine and its story is easy to get into without needing lore dumps for context
It was a great design decision for the capitalist class to have no arms. Very symbolic.
But also. How do they function and how did they evolve with zero ability to manipulate their environment?
They have arms. The walk on their hands! Their actual legs are atrophied and shriveled
They have hands, they actually walk on hands, their legs are tiny though so if they moved naturally they would be long, not tall, crawling on the ground.
We need a game where we play as a minimum wage slig
Always wondered why the have no arms. Guess its a stylistic choice or some weird symbol of power…
They do have arms. The arms are much longer than their legs and so they use them to get around instead. I think it's suppose to be a sort of way to show how this intimidating guys are always putting on a show.
Yeah they’ve got legs and arms, but their legs are atrophied leftovers like how whales have legs inside them. They use their long arms as legs, but as a show of dominance they cover them with business suits and shoes that force other species to do their work for them.
@@-._Radixerus_.- Yes, I'm pretty sure their actual legs are pretty much, if not fully, vestigial at this point. Also, I think I remember reading once that they wear those skirt suit things that restrict their ability to move their upper limbs as a status symbol.
Morguer, the only one to look at the whole "Mulluk blows up his own business for the insurance" thing and go "yeah, something smells really fish about this."
Man Oddworld was seriously ahead of its time
The gluggons are straigh up evil in every way.
Is it just me, or is Morguer way less ugly compared to the other gluckons?
These videos are incredible
I want to play this game now.
Hollywood could learn from these animators the level of expression on the glukkons face.
They are so intimidating when they don't walk
Morguer is the best looking out of the four department heads we see
I feel like he is the only glukkon with normal fuckin teeth, they aren't cracked at all
Ooooh that glare in his iris was sick
I never understood how bad guys who have no arms could gain control over an economic Empire.
They do have arms
They're only arms.
they're 90% arm it's a Sebulba from the phantom menace type situation
I really like that part of their downfall is their own disstrust for one another love this type of poetic justice in storys
Do the roar
Daddy, he's gettin away do somethin
Where's their hands
The hands are their feet
Glukkons walk on them. Their legs/feet are too deformed to hold up their bodies, so they use their arms/hands to walk instead.
Why does he not have arms?
He has arms. Hes actually on them. They have shriveled up legs
So no employee of the year awards?
JUST LIKE AMAZON😂😂
This the villain from Monsters vs aliens?
Now that ive seen the Glukon (i think thats how you spell it) biology short, I can't un-see them pressing the buttons with their hands
No arms interesting
They walk on their hands because the arms are extremely long. They have tiny little legs that dangle inside their clothes. Just google glukkon
Actually it's only arms.
They have arm, but use them to walk, quite funny when they do
Bros head is an almond.
Soo… since this game has popped off.. any chance we could get much’s oddysee? I know we have it on switch and on steam, but it was from the original xbox days. It could probably use a remastering or remake for current gene players.
I'm disgusted by the lumps at the back of his head.
This is actually kind of fun
How’s he supposed to pickup the cigar
They seem to have a variety of foot-pedal activated gadgets - so i suspect there is probably a cigar dispenser thing somewhere there that they all use. Either that or they just get a flunkie to do it, which would be a very glukkon thing to do.
They look like the birds
How does he pick up his cigar
I just want to know when we are getting a remake of munch
As evil as any other gluk, but figured out the truth, from knwon8nh molluk well, and from artifctscs dug out from necrummmines, and meat trades to rupture in exchange for mullah and bones, aka figured out 70% of what was really going on,etc
This looks like high on life
Fun fact: One of my friends spent $4,500 on Neverwinter Nights IN HIS 20's
Is this a movie or game because if its a movie ill watch it
High quality story driven hand
Ooohhhhh thank you for your information
Sligs arnt that bad at their job, really fill their role well
Marvel straight up made Ebony Maw a glukkon
Is this a game or a show?
Game: Oddworld Soulstorm
Правильно. Сначала - не решение проблемы, а поиск виноватых.😂
Aye yo why is this squid guy kinda...
Why do they look like the purple octopus from penguins of Madagascar?
How does he smoke if he has no arms?
Is that Richard Epcar?
You can count on m-
Human please... It's me ❤Tutu
How does he hold the cigar??
His “legs” are hands, gluks just pretend to have no arms, cause they walk on their arms.
Where his arms at?
How does he smoke if he has no hands
pays someone to light his cigar
How does he put the cigarette in his mouth
Whys morguers head look like a Heart?
He evolved from an octopus, the genealogical family in universe is called The Octigi in the same way that humans are Homo Sapiens Sapiens and Chimps are Homo Sapiens Trogladitus.
I’m a little confused on the lore here. Can someone tell me?
Harmony of races gets interupted when a moon has the handprint ofnone race making their ego raise. His race took over the world and inslaved the first race while using a new addictive brew drink to keep them dependent. One of the slaves in another factory found out that a short meat supply means theyll be using slave meat instead. Revolt ensues lead by whistleblower slave and he also finds that the brew is made by their bones. Now hes trying to fuck up the cartel industries and this guy here is starting to catch on that the other factory explosion wasnt merely insurance fraud.
