As interesting as an edgy take on Indiana Jones might be, I think it was the right call to have it be faithful to the tone of the films. At its core, the Indy franchise is based off of 1940's cliffhanger serials that George Lucas grew up with. Making it edgy and modern instead of whimsical and swashbuckling would just kill the spirit Indy was built on. And the recent Tomb Raider trilogy already fills the niche of a dark and gritty take on archeology adventures.
Only thing I didn't like is the obvious Self-insert of Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Helena Shaw) apparently in this. My question is WHY does an Indy videogame need TWO protagonists? That Helena Shaw clone should just be a background character and Indy (who is and should be the STAR of his own VideoGame) be the Main Character.
