  • "Roll Over Beethoven", released in 1956, peaked at #7 on the Billboard R&B chart and #29 Pop Chart. Berry said the song was in response to his sister always playing classical music on the family piano. The single was one of 50 recordings chosen in 2003 by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry, and the following year, it was ranked #97 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". Chuck Berry is considered one of the pioneers of rock and roll music that refined the elements of rhythm and blues that made rock and roll distinctive. He was among the first musicians to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. His distinctive guitar style and showmanship was a major influence on many later guitar musicians.

He spent time in prison for armed robbery, for transporting a minor across a state line for immoral purposes and tax evasion.

This was not a typical Chuck Berry concert audience. They would have had to tie me down with ropes to stop me from dancing. Then and now.

He kept on doing that for another 60 years. i assume he slowed down in his 80s. But Keith Richards didn't, so maybe Chuck kept doing it for another 70 years.

Mr. Charles Edward Anderson Berry put the fun in American music. I do not think he ever wrote a sad song . He was a great performer. RIP you deserve your Angel Wings. Even in Heaven they cannot come close.
