I feel like this should’ve came out years ago tbh because to me Fury doesn’t have that badass aura he use to have especially after losing his eye to a damn cat
I really dunno why EVERYTHING has to be a joke or a subversion of expecation in the MCU. They they have to poke fun at everything. Even the disappearance of half the population had it be called “The Blip” and brought up in a high school announcement video in Spider-Man … are they for real
And the third episode of this pretty much killed his cool factor by having it so he didn't work his way up the ranks of SHIELD but had the way cleared for him by Talos' group of skrulls.

They CHANGED his eye scar too since Captain Marvel came out and it bothers me SOOO MUCH because his eye is out for 90% of this show.
In the comics he takes a hit for the team he was leading in a battle and gets injured to save his teams lives, in the MCU he fucking loses his eye to a god dam fucking Cat.
Joe has the best take on this show.

Secret Invasion should have a massive impact on the MCU but it just feels like a self contained series that will resolve itself by the end. Especially as we seen Fury looking more like his oldself in the Marvels trailer.

right the skrulls could've been its own saga in the mcu and for it to not get the budget of a movie is rude asf. A compromise they shoulda done s the wandavision drstrange throughline thing. Set up the building blocks in the tv show and make a finale in a big budget movie or two.
Yeah it honestly lowers the stakes for the secret invasion. They even have a line that kinda confirms it. Rhodes asks if they should get their friends and fury is like no they will find theme selves fighting among themselves and find themselves a terrorist. It’s kinda dumb imo. Even if it’s an okay spy show, in this universe it doesn’t have that much weight.
They did the impossible, they made a spy thriller about shapeshifting aliens vs superheroes utterly boring.
I know it’s kind of impressive in a way
But honestly that’s Disney at this point right… somehow managing to burn money despite the massive properties that they have access to!

My biggest problem with this show is that it just doesn't adapt the epicness of secret invasion comics
honestly, none of the TV shows captures any of the epicness of the comics. the TV Series were just horrible in my opinion. they are just slightly better in terms of soap operas production wise, but story wise, they are terrible.

I'd say it's because as far as the MCU Disney is seeing the writing on the wall and know that they have gotten all they were going to get profit wise and are now just doing the projects they have obligations to do or have spent to much money on so they have to put out

Whether it’s subscriptions, toys, other merch, tickets to Disney land, movie tickets whatever.. there is always more money. And Disneys number 1 goal is to increase shareholder wealth. So they are legally obligated to try to generate as much revenue on the lowest amount of spending haha. Disney is one of the most money thirsty companies on this earth, and tbh they are good at making money. It’s a different monster than what Walt had in mind I think but yea I definitely disagree that there isn’t more money to be made

I do agree that things have honestly slowed down but I believe that’s because ppl are struggling right now. Put groceries in the fridge or go to the movies?? Even did 3 did just as good as 2. Making 5-600 million on a movie is damn good and j belive Disney or any company will take that all day long. The marketing for secret invasion wasn’t INSANE. One reason there may be less marketing could be the fact that Disney marvel is already huge, honestly it practically sells itself. Id say guardians 3 didn’t feel like it had a ridiculous push and tht movie still did what I think would be considered very good in a shitty economy. Last thing I’ll say is the MCU has been dry. Thor sucked, antman was OKAY. Black panther was ok. Doctor strange was good but didn’t live up to the hype. Last great movies were no way home and Shang chi IMO. So I think marvel fans are a bit tired but that means there’s actually a HUGE amount of money to be made to pull those fans back in.

So if movies are doing 600-800 million so to me… there seems like a ton of money to be mad and they should be striving to get back to that cultural phenomenon level. Unless they are just conceding defeat but again with Disney I highly fking doubt tht lol.

You know you’ve hit rock bottom when you have Sam Jackson being the main character and not only do I have no feeling to watch it; I didn’t even realize it came out until a couple days ago.
It’s not bad though in my opinion🤷♂️compared to the rest of the mcu shows this might end up being one of the best ones. The villain is pretty good as well

I wish that secret invasion was what phase 4,5 and 6 had built itself around instead of this miniseries because that would have done it justice
Realistically, it wouldn’t really work with the heroes unless they were replaced IN that movie’s timeframe. Shapeshifters pose a problem for the MCU since there aren’t decades of comics beforehand that can make it a pretty clear cut to insert a copycat into the story. You couldn’t make any significant hero a skrull aside from maybe War Machine or Hawkeye (but Hawkeye would have to not have been replaced for very long). The Guardians aren’t on Earth, Doctor Strange is too mystical, Hulk could maybe be a skrull.
I kinda wish they did not turn Skrulls into sympathetic characters in the Captain Marvel movie.
@@superjlk_9538 I don't see how it couldn't work the MCU has been going on since like 2008 and has dozens of heroes who jump all over the place. Like you could easily have Thor or Captain Marvel replaced since they go off planet most of the time anyway.

There is a serious lack of paranoia in this show so far. They have the perfect way to do that but it’s just taking so long to get there. Agents of shield did this exact storyline in season 4 and it was absolutely amazing, anyone that hasn’t watched that show should 100% give it a chance and check it out.

I think one of the main problems for me is that Captain Marvel led up to this show which in turn hurt it in a lot of different ways.

Gravick healing is because he has extremis. A lot of the old villain tech makes a mention on a screen next to a photo of the doctor in the lab during episode 2 I believe.
Part of me feels like this storyline could have been an avengers movie on its own, like its implications are way too important to not involve them. Doesnt feel believable that Fury is the one to take all Skrulls down
Im only watching this due to my love for the Secret Invasion story from the comics.
As a casual marvel fan, im cool with the show. Sure alot of misses but its not swerving off the road and crashing.

@zoso1up905 its different, BUT not like a 100% difference, more like they changed some things. For example, in the OG story, a lot of the heroes were skurlls, but in the show....as of now, no skrull Avengers to be seen. Hopefully that changes though because id at least like to see that call back or tip of the hat.

I agree, first 3 episodes I was like damn this isn’t the same fury but they talk about that in the writing. They say he wasn’t the same since the blip. But at the end of the 3rd episode you’re kind of like ok old fury is back a little bit and he’s gotta stop this nuclear war. I think Rhodey is a skrull and fury will die at the end

I feel like shows or series should not continue the major storyline. That should be kept for the movies and the series and shows can be kept for explaining and expanding details between the movies when the heroes are on their downtime and have their own personal stories and adventures.
Exactly this, man. The big movies should be events, that continue the story.
But give the characters the time they need to make you love them, use small stories and crossovers for that, stuff that keeps you interested, without making you feel that if you miss an episode or season, there's no point in even showing up for anything afterwards anymore.

I've seen the first 3 episodes It's boringly average and worst of all Nick Fury talks non stop about racism. It doesn't feel like Nick Fury at all. "Mama and I road in the black car of the train" "I'm black so I know how you feel green alien" "We're both black so have my back bruhtuh" - Nick Fury.

Ben Mendelsohn is giving a 10 / 10 performance on some 6.6 / 10 material. If you like him, watch that show "the Outsider" its one season and done, with a satisfying (albeit nhilistic) ending, Ben is outstanding in it and the show drips with dread.

Should've made it a movie. The TV series of MCU is really killing MCU, but I get it - they want the monthly subscription for Disney+ to succeed. But in doing so, they're pumping out mediocre projects that frankly speaking doesn't entice people to resub.
They look mediocre and they feel mediocre. Only the Loki show had semi-impressive visuals. Falcon and Winter Soldier was decent looking too. I wasn’t bored by that show but mildly disappointed at the lost opportunities.

I don't think anything can top avengers earths mightiest heroes as a show that adapts the secret invasion storyline. Avengers EMH will always be my favourite animation series just for how they handled many of their characters.

Once again, I agree with Alex's assessment. For all the good (high production value, well-shot, great acting from Mendelson), there's also bad (awkward acting, awkward editing, cheap sets and visual effects). The rumors out there suggest that the series underwent major rewrites/reshoots, so it's possible that's why acting, editing and overall production value seem mixed.

Sam Jackson is 74 years old. He should have been playing old man Fury 20 years ago. I dropped the show on the second episode because I was just bored. The action was boring, the dialogue was boring and preachy at times. The cast seems tired delivering their lines. The material is just not good.
Gravik got a Extremis upgrade (from Iron Man 3). Skrulls are mentally linked with the subject they impersonate, maybe thats the reason that the submarine commander in the house couldn't let anything happen to the son of the takenover subject. A logical parental response, just technically speaking not by the skrull, but by the human and those emotions can sometimes overtake the Skrull handling.

Too much retconning and reimagining of the comics for me because so many characters that are in the comics aren't in the show. It just seems like another Disney plus watered down version of a really good story from the comics. 😢😢😢
I'm 3 episodes in and my verdict is...meh.
I'm getting real tired of having to say that about most Marvel shows/movies now, but it's true. GOTG Vol.3 thus far has been the only P5 outing to break that mold. This show is just...meh. It's not awful, but it's certainly not good.
Don Cheadle and Sam Jackson had a great scene in episode 2 I think it was, when they were at the restaurant. I'm really enjoying it.

I loved the dialogue between talos and fury on the train.talos telling nick that theres a million of his ppl here but what did you expect him to do? He blipped for 5yrs then even when he came back he couldn't even talk to him about anything then fury chooses to leave this time and doesnt help the skrulls. Fury saying you cant have a million skrulls acting like humans.thinking they can share earth when not even humans can get along with each other much less any other species. Also dont think you guys realized but when furys wife wanted to talk to gravik that was actually rhodey on the phone meaning rhodey is a skrull.
Joe liking that monstrosity of an AI credit sequence tells me he's suffering from blindness. Poor guy.
This show has just felt boring to me. There are some things that are okay, but in terms of pacing, it feels like it's going at such a slow rate. It really doesn't help that I'm having trouble connecting with some of the Skrulls that they try to paint as sympathetic, and it makes it even worse with the fact that some of the older and established characters have been kinda beaten down or killed. It's just disappointing that the story feels dull, because this show did feel like it had potential to be better.

funny how the cartoon of earth´s mightiest heroes ACTUALLY captured how scary skrulls were introduced while the mcu version try so hard to be "victims" and they are just a bunch of terrorists just like the flag smashers

Man I have been trying to watch it when I have time. It seems to take more attention than I have to give. Why do they have all the memories of the main person?
I’ve already made 2 videos on the show, one for the first episode and another after watching the third episode detailing half the series. In essence the show is boring, poorly adapts the source material and makes our heroes feel incompetent and borderline useless in the grand scheme of things. The main villains argument is sound however how it is set up due to fury’s failure and Captain marvels failure doesn’t give me much hope for either character in the mcu. Much of what the show expands upon us how integral the skrulls have involved themselves with humanity not even to take over at first but to just live. Skrulls are even in charge of important government positions around the world which fury knew about and if not makes him even more incompetent. The fact they added that the skrulls are the reason he climbed the ladder at shield kills the super secret agent character for fury a bit. Which was a massive part of his character. This show is really struggling to even be entertaining and for spy drama type show and my hat just kills it for me.

You probably really enjoyed the part where the aliens with shape shifting powers with access to infinite number of worlds and who are already comfortably living on a planet with other people decided to randomly commit genocide…
@@JackEverton101 in the mcu they aren’t conquerors that was a decision made by the directors. In the context of the mcu skrulls they aren’t a bad species. However due to the inaction of fury and Carol they have decided to take over earth. Doing exactly what the kree who told a very convenient lie that they will conquer planets by slowly taking it over with its own people and it so happens to be the plan here in secret invasion. Love your sarcasm tho.

Being a fan of comics hurts bro because these stories that are popular for a reason there story telling makes them amazing. Even recent comic stories are hit or miss. The quality of story telling is dropping, and it’s clearly seen here in secret invasions!
@@SinnerMann I consider myself incredibly lucky, thanks to an amazing relative when I was just a wee lad (end of high school over a decade ago) I was exposed to anime and nowadays thanks to the terrible decision making going on in the comic book industry and piss poor effort/decision making from Hollywood…. in several of the stores that I go to the anime/manga Selection is 2 to 3 Times the size of the comic book section… and i live in America!

Secret invasion should have been the plot line for phase 4 instead of multiverse. It being a self contained series seems too small scale for how cool of a story it is in the comics.
Let's not forget those launch keys were a foot apart. Isn't the whole idea to have two people turn the keys. Unfortunately, those keys were so close together that it only takes one guy to turn both keys.

Is anyone else reminded of the Angry Joe She-Hulk review in that the Secret Invasion is yet another very trashy product that for some reason gets a high rating from them? SI might be better, but is still awful and seeing the scores of 7-8-6 makes me lose even more hope in AJ crew. They must be serious Marvel fanboys to be this kind.

I miss when the MCU were well written and directed movies that always felt like the next step and event towards something massive, now its just disney plus shows and half assed mcu projects that tor the most part haven't amounted to anything super significant compared to the first 3 phases of the mcu
This is the most okay thing ive seen in a while. Feels about on par with Falcon and Winter Soldier. Not bad. Not great. Just okay. Probably going to be forgettable. I doubt its going to get amazing, but maybe im wrong.
Falcon & Winter soldier would’ve been the best MCU show if they really, REALLY didn’t drop the ball with the villain (Karli iirc).

Yeah, they need a hero, vigilante, or super soldier to do some hand to hand combat with the Super Skrulls in this show so we can atleast have some action scenes in the show smh. U.S. Agent would've work well here too. Nick Fury and Talos are looking to old and frail to get down and dirty lol.
For a series that is supposed to be as earth shaking as Secret Invasion. It feels like 6 episodes on Disney Plus doesn't do it any justice. Because it signals to the fans that the higher-ups don't believe its important and the investment isn't there. It's a good show, but it is definitely hurt by the budget constraints of needing to be a show instead of a huge event movie/saga of movies.
They wrote Fury too soft. Whatever he was dealing with it didn’t dull him that much. He’s mentally a Batman yet he’s getting stumped and beat out on all these interactions with a bunch of factions. I don’t buy it.

I think it's good, more engaging than most Marvel TV. A terrorist actually succeeded with his terrorist act. This series has a harder edge on it, characters are dying. It at least has stakes, which is always lacking in Marvel TV. This is certainly way better than Falcon and Winter Soldier. People want old Fury to act like young Fury. Fury and Talos are past their prime -- that's the point. If you de-aged them, people would complain. If you tried new characters, people would complain. This is definitely above average.
Here I am hoping AJS crews opinion about The Sound of Freedom. Hopefully soon.

i actually didnt know it would be a show, I think it has a lot more freedom to tell the comic book story here, as far as i know the more action-y marvel shows have been done a lot better than the more (ahrem) comedic arpoach like mrs marvel and she hulk, but this i think is good and i hope its going to continue doing well with the story.

I've seen the 3rd episode twice, not because I like it, but because It was confusing and I hated it and realize I've shoulve miss something. And I think I did becuase on closer inspection made more sense... if you consider "stupid writing" as more sense.
So the superskrull thing Gravik showed while getting stabbed, I think its safe to say its the extremis project Aldrich Killian and Pepper Pots used in Iron-man 3. I think it has to be more to it since Tony already has a cure for that, so I'm assuiming superskrull is the combination of more powers, not just extremis.
The 3 episodes follow a new recruit of skrull, a black man. In episode 3, he is doubtful about the "chaos". 2 other skrull join that man and I believe the 2 submarine employees are 2 of those 3 skrulls and the doubtfull skrull from the beggining of the episode is the hesitant human in the submarine. Otherwise, like Joe said, it makes no sense to send 1 skrull and a regular human.
Regarding Bob, I have no explanation that makes sense. I want to believe that regular Bob while in the pod, gives skrull Bob his memories, personality and likeness... so you take the good and the bad, he can't help but feel love for his son. But I wouldn't entertain this idea further because imagine if a skrull takes the form of a skrull hater, what takes precedent first? The skrulls know they are skrulls and have affiliation to Gravik's cause. So I would agree Joe and Alex, lazy writing.
The ending of episode 3 of Nick Fury's wife is the weakest part. She made a speech of "How you were gone and I have to live with it" I dunno if its widow empowerment speech and want it to push it. But if you analyze the scene, she snapped because Nick asked her if she talked to Gravik. Then she gave that speech. Then Nick fury kept his mouth shut like "im sorry", which Nick would never do. And lo and behold at the end, she was talking to Gravik. So, now we forget scenes we set up? I would look stupid if ep 4 is something else entirely, its just I don't want to see Nick Fury writting like that. We know what he is capable of. Very manipulatory from there part.
For his Super Skrulls, Gravik is using the DNA of different things that were established in the MCU. Extremis, Cull Obsidian (who was one of the Children of Thanos who Wong cut his hand off), the Frost Beast from Dark World, & several other things.
As for Bob, not only does his Skrull have his memories but also his emotions & feelings.

For myself, Marvel has lost that magic and I have lost interest in the franchise. The magic, for me, ended with END GAME. Anything after that the interest isn’t there anymore for me. Glad you guys are still supporting and enjoying the subject matter.

All I've seen and heard about the series is there's a lot of dumping on Nick, The Skrulls who were perfectly fine and fitting in on earth now want to kick up a stink and kill all humans because of nick's 30 year old promise, some out of place black racial stuff and the title sequence was made with AI.

I can't believe you forgot about the best Iron Man movie! Graviks powers are from the villains in Iron Man 3. There was a folder that was on screen for a few seconds that showed all the other powers they might take, like groots branches.
