Does anyone else just get these memories of all the things you did, relationships you had, ups & downs, trials and tribulations when you listen to Damon sing on songs like this ? What an amazing life we have. I'm so grateful I'm only 25 and I can enjoy so much that's ahead of me. Times have been dark for me in recent years but the fleeting moments of happiness in time is what we live for. Every happy moment we have in this existence should be cherished so dearly. I've had an uneasy relationship with my dad in recent times. I'm gonna talk to my dad tomorrow hopefully it's a good day.
Im 40 and his voice makes me slightly melancholy, but in a positive way. Reminds me of being a teen where no one needed me, relied on me, no responsibilities. Just life for myself.
Damon is an absolute genius musician. So glad to be alive while he makes this music. Same age and I live and grew up in the same area as him and Graham. Everything he does is just incredible.
Agreed Mike .. I went to a neighbouring school to his in Colchester all those years ago .. he is such a talent, and massive treasure. Long may he continue to write, produce and perform ..
Exactly today a year ago, I played this song for 2 straight hours. The moment when this song helped me get through the hardest breakup ever. This masterpiece will forever be a poem to me.
I played this song also after a difficult break up. I could really relate to the whole song and it is just such a beautiful track...One of Blur's finest piece.
I wish I had a thumbnail of his talent. One of our greatest songwriters, never stands still churning out derivative stuff, always on the musical move for different ideas and influences. I'd put him in the same league as Townshend, Bowie and Davies all day long.
Graham’s guitar part on this song is my favourite part of it (and one of his most incredible rhythm/ lead mashups ever), but even so this is really beautiful. Timeless.
Blur has been a constant in my life for 30 + years. Every record has had an impact in different aspects of my life. Different people have come and gone. Different places I've lived and shared those records. Amazing to think back and realize that.
It's nice that there is no bad blood between them, looking back, damon have great memories of blur, the reunion really fixed a lot of things and produced one of the best live show ever.. whoever lucky enough to be a part of that 2009 glastonbury, you are one lucky bastard..
It's over You don't need to tell me I hope you're with someone who makes you feel safe in your sleeping tonight I won't kill myself, trying to stay in your life I got no distance left to run When you see me Please turn your back and walk away I don't want to see you 'Cause I know the dreams that you keep is wearing me When your coming down, think of me here I got no distance left to run It's over, I knew it would end this way I hope you're with someone who makes you feel That this life is the night And it settles down, stays around Spends more time with you I got no distance left to run Coming home It's over
I really like this version of the song. I've had a depressive disorder for 3 years and I'm suffering from a particularly big problem these days. But still, when I listen to this, I feel like there will be always a clear sky (and might be a rainbow too) after every heavily pouring rain. It helps me a lot.
And that…is exactly how you do that..!! Monumentally fantastic; his writing and different musical noises just keep on getting better and better; how lucky am I to hear that - Genius - Absolutely privileged
An honest way of describing how a caring lover of an addicted individual finally says that they are truly exhausted.. lovely snapshot Damon. Thanks for sharing...anyone got some peppermint tea ..💥🦬👍
I got it straight away as I'm a recovering heroin addict and I nursed my partner through her anorexia until I could not take anymore as she was not doing anything to help herself and was rapidly deteriorating and I left...ten days later she died and the lyrics of the song were literally my thoughts in the days after I left.
@@maball8460 thanks for your kind words, I'm happy these days but it took me a long time to get over what happened,it still pops up in my thoughts from time to time but doesn't bother me much now .
This song has saved my life more than once. I know a lot of people exaggerate these sorts of things, but it has. It's a gem that I think a lot of people don't know about. Thank you BBC Music for putting this one up. Means a lot.
Despite being a very straight bloke, I'd happily give him a hug for this. The emotions Damon Albarn must've felt when he first wrote this song became very obvious in his face as he was performing it, and being able to keep them in check while delivering a great vocal performance is a sign of true talent. :-)
Never really been a follower of blur or it's members when i was younger but looking back and comparing to most of todays clones and offerings i got some things wrong or arrived late for the show 🤔 This performance highlights such a beautifully written song sung with great feeling. ❤️🥺
Albarn is such an underrated vocalist. This and the original are very touching performances.
Agreed, his voice is so versatile. Hard rock, pop, hip hop, acoustic ballads, African music backing vocals, he can sing it all.
Best artists of the world
Definitely. this is one is full of emotion
Dude, the contributions Damon has made to music throughout his career are massive, he is very underrated, but we all know better. 👍
A distinctive voice.
This song is Thom Yorke class- and that's what Damon really is. One of the greatest songwriters we have at the moment,
One of the best British songwriters of all time
Thom Yorke and Damon Albarn are my two favorites artist ever. True geniuses.
Albarn written far more higher quality tunes
Damon can make people dance or mosh or cry their eyes out.
Thom... just makes people cry.

Do it... Hope you feel ok
Though it’s a bit late,I hope you’re doing good with your father
Better late than never, but I hope you are ok 👌
He is a national treasure. No bravado, just talent.
U know that!
A world treasure!
he’s criminally underrated
Saw the gorillaz at the o2 in august , so much energy The best concert on been to
No Bravado? Okay maybe you need to see how he was back in the 90’s
After all these years....I still bottle up in tears when I hear this song. It speaks to all our broken hearts over the years. One of Blur's greats...
Amen
🙏
I would die to hear him and Graham duet on this. That droney, reverby guitar is just iconic with these powerful lyrics.

I hear you. I’ve been there too. You’ll be ok, trust me.
I played this song also after a difficult break up. I could really relate to the whole song and it is just such a beautiful track...One of Blur's finest piece.
Hands down one of the most beautiful chord progressions I have ever heard.

This song brings back so many memories.
Love this song. Damon has aged into a fine musician.
It’s like a wine. Better with every year.
His piano playing is extremely good for someone who was never taught how to play correctly. He has a jazz style to his playing.
This is literally the saddest song I’ve ever heard. Thank you Damon. 😔💔

The GOAT break up song
Nick Cave Far From Me
The perfect break up song, had this on repeat on many lonely nights in the past. Cheers Damon

The growly "Someone who" at 1:56 is great.
Forever thankful for that someone who break Damon's heart in such way, he came up with this masterpiece.. timeless
Justine
@@mariafernandamorocho8322 I wonder if he still think about Justine while he is singing this song and other songs related to her
You have to thank her for kickstarting Suede songs too
Every time I listen to it, it breaks me into pieces in some ways that not even a single saddest breakup song in the world could ever be.
This is one of those timeless songs which, when you listen to it for the first time, it sounds so familiar. Genius song writing.
One of the most beautiful and saddest "breakup" songs
Killer version
It's over
You don't need to tell me
I hope you're with someone who makes you
feel safe in your sleeping tonight
I won't kill myself, trying to stay in your life
I got no distance left to run
When you see me
Please turn your back and walk away
I don't want to see you
'Cause I know the dreams that you keep is wearing me
When your coming down, think of me here
I got no distance left to run
It's over, I knew it would end this way
I hope you're with someone who makes you feel
That this life is the night
And it settles down, stays around
Spends more time with you
I got no distance left to run
Coming home
It's over
'13' was the best Blur album. What a way to finish with this song. Great version here
Music connects us
Damon love you bro.
what a beautiful song
Albarn is the new singer revelation to me. I would love to meet him. He's amazing, specially when he sings 'On Melancholy Hill".
Haunting lyrics and pain
An underrated Blur tune and beautiful like this

I love this song
His best song. Works beautifully as a ballad.
Just amazing. Damon's pure talent.
I feel asleep with this song on repeat. Loved it that much

Adam Weston….I’m so sorry for your loss mate. Some things in life are simply bigger than we are. Find your happiness and honor your memories.

Can't stop listening to it! So beautiful!
it takes a very long time for us to realize that damon is a genius
Simply perfect! Best male singer in U.K. by a mile!
What a great Artist. I saw him with Blur and in his solo tour .This is a beautiful version . Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷.
Achingly, heartbreakingly beautiful
13 is by far the best blur album 👌
Think Tank is a close second
@briancox9357 yes! Totally agree!
13 and think tank were huge inspirations for me. Ambulance, out of time, good song, jets, gene by gene, great songs
Damon, please give us more unplugged piano + vocal performances like this!
Wowwww he recently did this? My all time favorite blur song... I love it and I'm so happy he feels okay to sing this...
Nah bro this is off 13
@@TinkerToneworks they mean that he recently did this performance, not that it's a new song.
Tears and goosebumps. Stunning.

Absolutely stunning.
His voice is gold
one of Damon's / Blur's best compositions .... just brilliant.
Beautiful but sad. When you love someone you wont them with you. Thanks for sharing
Holy f***
What a version dude.
Great performance of a classic song
Stunning. ✨
That album, 13 saved my life
Proper tune!!…one of my favourites. I adore this version and arrangement. Beautiful Damon.🙏❤️🎼.x
Love this song....pick yourself up,dust yourself off and start again....youll get through this ❤️
The world stopped turning last night for 2 minutes 45. What a beautiful moment, thank you ❤️
im loving mr damon albarns solo stuff ,the universal on the Johnathon ross show was great too ,and im a die hard oasis fan.good stuff
The most stripped and straight forward lyrics he ever wrote for a Blur song. No sarcasm, cynicism or ethereal metaphors.
this guy is a gem
Never really been a follower of blur or it's members when i was younger but looking back and comparing to most of todays clones and offerings i got some things wrong or arrived late for the show 🤔
This performance highlights such a beautifully written song sung with great feeling.
❤️🥺
you missed out, unfortunate 🙃
Well you can make up for lost time. I think blur’s songs are pretty timeless. So have fun. Enjoy 😉
Yeah. You missed out. Saw them live three times (Great Escape, Blur and 13 tours). Each time they were incredible live.
I got goose bumps listening this
Beautiful and touching voice of Damon⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
