- A 41-year-old hair salon owner in Concord arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting at least one victim inside his business has been charged with rape, police announced Thursday. Jodi Hernandez reports.

Many salons don’t have cameras as not required of them.
its been 3 years. any footage is long gone. with no proof, its going to be hard for charges to stick.
My mom would stay with me through hair appointments even in salons with no male stylists. We still laugh about a particular hair appointment that took over 5 hours (the stylist was easily distracted by other things-long story😂)

@@javiruiz8365 What are you talking about? It's common that barber shops and hair salons run by one person. Unfortunately, a lot of women are dumb enough to go alone...my mom being one of them. You just can't convince these women otherwise.

Small salons sometimes only have one worker if it's a slow day. Or might just be certain times of the day like morning or evening when it's slower. I've had hair appointments at salons where I didn't see another worker.

Owners with businesses at stake install cameras for their own protection so the fact that he didn't is highly suspicious. And then to be alone with a customer is another red flag.

I’m sorry I was the mother of a young child 30 years ago and I would not have dropped off my 14-year-old girl to be alone with a adult male. I don’t know I did have some luggage of my own so maybe that’s why I was like that but these days I can’t believe people leave young girls alone with older men. Mind you this has to be thoroughly investigated as you can’t just take the word of one child and sometimes many children because we’ve seen that play out unfairly before. So I guess this is a wait-and-see scenario

We need to know who the accuser's parents are.
unfortunately there are a lot of ignorant people who believe "guilty until proven innocent" instead of "innocent until proven guilty". We live in an age where people are convicted by media by a public consumed by rage-bait. These employees could be targeted by crazy people who conflate accusation with conviction. Maybe the guy did it, maybe he didn't, but I guarantee you plenty of people have made up their minds simply from this short video.

The comments asking “where is the proof” and “this isn’t true” are so insensitive. The law enforcement investigation has determined that additional victims have come forward - which means, he is a predator and has a pattern of doing this. Ya’ll are the same folks that would immediately dismiss and invalidate your children’s disclosure of sexual abuse and not believe them, and then turn around and blame them for being sexually abused. It’s shameful.
Going to be hard for the charges to stick if theres no evidence. CCTV footage probably long gone. Since there are multiple women speaking up, it tells me he isnt innocent. Court has to prove it but his reputation is gone. Child rapist by court of public opinion.

This looking for other victims stuff should wait until after the initial trial...nobody with charges like this can get a fair trial with all the hysteria, disgust, and media coverage. After the initial trial, then follow up with media coverage for additional claims...I'm surprised the system has not cleaned up the procedures for prosecuting cases, even if they are predators.

This happened in the Philippines. A male celebrity accused of raping this young lady so he went to jail for that and paid bonds. This was 10 years ago. For some reasons maybe money, the accuser open the case again and a group of lawyers dedicated their lives for years cracking the case. Just this month only, the lady was found guilty that she made up the stories to take advantage of the poor guy. The supreme court gave them a life sentence of emprisonment her and her other accomplices. It took 10 years for the male celebrity to be free because of a lady's statement that she was raped by him. Be careful when you judge. Are u not wondering why the mom purposely left a 14 yr old alone in the salon with a male? Both of them are capable enough of creating or doing something horrible either male of female, mom or teenagers can be also evil.

These perpetrators accused of rape from 2 years ago still can be charged as because felonies have a longer statue of limitations. For one thing, if the salon owner is convicted, the prison life will be harsh. HIV and herpes is rampant in the jails, however condoms are not provided because it is not allowed. There are monthly fights where staff or inmates can be seriously injured or die.
Women make accusations after 30 years of silence.

This is such a delicate situation. There is no telling which side is telling the truth, no camera, no witnesses. No evidence if the guy really is a creep and there is no evidence that the girl is actually lying about this. The only factual thing is that the mother left a minor by themselves with a stranger which is still mind numbly insane. But then again on the other side how do you not have cameras anywhere in your business? A lot of holes in this story. In reality this will likely not stick since there are too many factors that dont make sense here.

I went to the hair salon alone as a teen quite often. There was never an issue. The mother may not have known her daughter would actually be alone with him. She may have been dropped off outside.

This is a tough one largely because their may be no physical evidence to support the allegations. It does not mean it didn't happen but to prove it will be difficult. Also, they may have others who might make similar claims but without physical evidence it will be difficult. But, horrible for the child to have experienced this.
