- Hi Explorers! While passing through Cherokee, North Carolina, we decided to stop at a few locations to show some of the activities available in the area. While we didn't get to participate in any of the attractions, we have been to many of them before. We were strapped for time but still wanted to take a moment to show off the town. Come along as we check it out!

We have been going to the town for years. It is a wonderful place but the town has had a hard time like most other small towns. We love supporting small towns anyway we can. Have fun, and check out Maggie Valley while you are there. Another cute small town. Thanks for watching! 🙂

We have been visiting Cherokee for the last 20 years. It still looks the same except for a few areas. We would love to actually stay a few days. Happy early birthday to Mom!
Amazing video did you guys see any Elk there. I seen one of the few times I was there like 53 elk. They are so amazing. I lived on the other side of the mountain not far from Gatlinburg at all. But would come over the mountain always hoping to see Elk. It's like a hit or miss one time you can go you will see some other times you won't see any at all. But Cherokee is an amazing place. I wish they could bring the town back to life though. I been to the Casino one there. My ex took me because I never been to a casino before. I didn't play but she played a few times the slot machines. But it's really nice in there though.
Thank you! It is an amazing little town. Unfortunately with all these little towns time has not been kind. We did not see any elk when we visited. That would have been cool. We had visit the casino like 14 years ago and played digital black jack. At that time they did not allow alcohol. As of last year they are allowing it more on the reservation. Definitely worth a visit!
LOL, the Chasco Fiasco. I was in that parade in 1986. I love the living museum and highly recommend visiting that and seeing "Unto These Hills". The Oconaluftee Trail along the river to the Mountain Museum is always a great little shaded hike with a charming historic farmstead at the end. If you want to see elk, this is the place to be during rutting season Sept-Oct and beyond to Dec+.
Awesome, we went to the Chasco Fiesta this year! There is a bunch to do in Cherokee. Unfortunately we were just passing through the town to visit the great smoky mountains. Next time we would like to stay in the town. Everybody keeps telling us about the Elk. We did not see any. Maybe next time! Thanks for watching!

We have always loved visiting Cherokee. We wished we had more time to visit on this last trip but we were just passing through on our way to Great Smoky Mountains. We wanted to throw this town some love and talked about some of the stuff there is to do there. Thanks for watching!
Cherokee Nation is in Oklahoma. The Eastern Band of the Cherokee is in North Carolina.
That is what I said, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. I looked it up before saying anything. He was just saying Cherokee nation because according to their website, they are a sovereign nation. They are also connected to the Cherokee nation in Oklahoma, according to their website. Also it is good to learn about other people's culture which we try to do whenever we can. I remember when Cherokee/ Maggie Valley was the place to go. That said, when the casino opened it really killed a whole lot of business. They spend their money at the casino and cannot even leave a tip for their services. A lot of people depend on their tips for their lively hood. It is just sad
It is kind of sad how much the area has suffered. We started going in 2001. It has changed a lot. A few small restaurants and attractions could bring the area back to life. Thanks for watching!

I have never been to Cherokee Casino and didn't know they don't serve alcohol drinks. Is that one of Native American rules? You don't seem happy... cannot drink???---2;53

It used to be no alcohol but we just read they have a limited bar of beer, wine, and mixed drinks now. That is not complimentary. They offer non-alcoholic drinks for free though. Lol we were trying to talk and that road was extremely loud. We weren't unhappy as we have been to this casino before just couldn't hear ourselves from the trucks. It used to be no alcohol on the reservation but as of last year they voted to allow the sale of beer at the store and beer and wine at restaurants. Cherokee is such a great little town. We would love to go back and spend a few nights there. Our next video is just a driving tour of the town. The video after that will be of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is so big so we didn't get to visit everything but we did get to see the mountain farm, Mingus Mill, clingman's dome, newfound gap, and cataract falls. Sadly we did not see any elk on our trip. Clingman's dome is awesome and would highly recommend it. Thanks for watching!
