CLIP DESCRIPTION:
With help from Gary Figgis (Ray Liotta), Freddy Helfin (Sylvester Stallone) takes justice to another level.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The second film from writer/director James Mangold, the corruption drama Cop Land stars Sylvester Stallone as Freddy Heflin, the much-denigrated sheriff of tiny Garrison, NJ, a community which -- thanks to a technicality -- is populated almost entirely by members of the New York City Police Department. When young cop Murray "Superboy" Babitch (Michael Rapaport) becomes embroiled in a controversial shoot-out which leaves two black youths dead, he apparently commits suicide rather than face the wrath of an official investigation. In reality, however, he flees to safety back home in Garrison. In the wake of the controversial events, NYPD Internal Affairs lieutenant Moe Tilden (Robert De Niro) arrives in Garrison to uncover the truth, attempting to enlist Freddy to help watch the watchmen, including Superboy's uncle, veteran cop Ray Donlan (Harvey Keitel); coked-out Gary Figgis (Ray Liotta); and Joey Randone (Peter Berg), the husband of the woman (Annabella Sciorra) Freddy loved and lost. A rich, complex film about redemption, Cop Land's portrayal of Freddy's struggles to prove his worth mirrors Stallone's own return to thoughtful, character-driven drama after years of vacuous action roles. Like Freddy, he faces an uphill battle, fighting for respectability in the face of a superb cast including Janeane Garofalo, Cathy Moriarty, and Paul Calderon.

Ray Liotta coming in like a madman with the cigarette hanging out is great.
I don't care what anyone says, Stallone can act.
Jack Torrance who tf says that he can't? Stallone is a great actor and proved it multiple times.
Just needs the right material
He's always acting like he's deaf in every movie when he has that speech impediment. Ha ha
HELL YEAH HE CAN!
He was nominated 2 times for best performance in the Oscars. Of course he can act.
I just found out that Ray Liotta passed in his sleep today on May 26, 2022.
RIP Ray Liotta (1954 - 2022) 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✝️
Easily one of the most satisfying endings in a film. Freddy is treated like crap the entire time by everyone for his problems yet when push came to shove he was the only decent human out of the bunch and wanted to make sure that justice would prevail. In the end he doesn't get the girl or the lasting fame but he can relax knowing he is a true cop and has his respect finally. Stallone is amazing here; easily one of his best roles and it's an utter shame he didn't get any awards for it. He went in hard and sacrificed a ton for the movie yet no one noticed. Sad. Roles like this at the end of the day make Sly a great and understated actor.
To see the baddies get their comeuppance too was great especially when Patrick and Keitel go down; Patrick's face is priceless. What makes the scene perfect is Liotta's character coming back and choosing not to sell out and saving his buddy. I got chills first time I watched this and he popped up and still do. Liotta also never got his props for this role.
This movie shouldn't be as forgotten as it is.
@ Still need to check NARC out but yeah def agree with CL being one of his best.. in the director's cut he had some more scenes and it's a shame they didn't make the theatrical cut because they are outstanding including one showing him mourning the girl. Why they cut it I don't know.
Sly and Ray were a great pair shame they never did a buddy movie or something.
@ "unlawful Entry.", another good film.
Actually stallone won an award in stockholm film festival you can look it up at imdb
Well said!
I like the Directors Cut
That cupcake makes a mess and we got a case again!
Dm sure did!😂😂
I grew up on Rocky, Rambo, Cliffhanger etc. I was used to seeing Sylvester Stallone as an indestructible badass. The first time I saw this film, I was genuinely worried that he wouldn't make it out alive, since they made him look so vulnerable. I jumped out of my seat and cheered when Ray Liotta showed up.
Me too
A Joint at 6 & the day is a friend! Stallone need a oscar for this deep role as a lowbudget cop & Rey Liotta too! I saw this movie as a child in the 2000s & in Germoney cames this movie not often on TV! Why?
0:23 best "i've just been shot" face ever
They had a good laugh on the commentary over that 😁
Rocky kills the Terminator and is saved by Henry Hill.
Then Rocky goes up to kill the Bad Lieutenant.
Rocky Kills Carlo and Dave Scatino.
@@GreenLightMe You knew Arthur?
Then tommy vercetti appears to save the day
The only time Henry Hill saved someone other than his rat self.
ray loitta cigarette in his mouth he's gangsters lol
Marlboro saves the day!!!
"I cant hear you Ray" ...
Freddy looked up to him for so many years
The bagpipes in this clip is perfect.
Carlinda! Well said
Unlike your grammar.

@@jonathanbirch2022 ????
Such a good performance by Stallone, playig totally against type in this movie.
Actually i thought he was "in Character" always the underdog fighting against the pumped up arrogant bad guys and claiming victory at the end. I love him :)
Agreed...up to this point. He's still blowing people away like Rambo.
ray liotta saves the day
Henry Hill came out of witness protection to redeem himself
ViceCityVacation haha you made my day
With a cigarette in his mouth
FUCKIN RAY BOY!
Tommy vercetti remember the name
lol Ray Liotta does it all with a cigarette in his mouth. Badass
This film is seriously awesome. It has literally like 10 Sopranos alumni in it, not to mention Deniro, Sly, and Ray Liotta (who is also technically a Sopranos alumni since he was in the film).
The movie was an absolute masterpiece and most of the cast was stellar: Sylvester Stallone, Ray Liotta, Robert de Niro, Robert Patrick, Harvey Keitel and Michael Rapaport.
you had me til Michael Rapaport, that dude dukie
Love the way figgs shows up to help him.
This reminds me a bit of the shootout at the ending of Taxi Driver. Firing against filth and corruption. Both are great films.
and both feature harvey keitel getting killed in a shootout at the end
It reminded me of the end shootout in State of Grace also.
@@bobbyperu3773 Robert Deniro lived in both films. As he was on the good side.
Watched this on Cinemax last night, I forgot how good of a movie it was. Definitely one of Sly's best movies.
After many years, took the time to watch this film. Noticed that almost the whole cast of the Sopranos are in this.
Copland is really a Mafia movie
Cliffhanger
Demolition Man
And this film
Stallone’s most underrated movies
and Judge Dredd
Plus Assassins
And Bullet to the Head and The Specialist. Basically most of his movies, outside of the franchises, which is a bit sad, since although Rocky, Rambo and Barney are his best characters, those other movies were awesome too!
very underrated film. Stallone's terrific in this.
Definitely one of the greatest scenes in movie history! Intense!
0:59 - Ray Liotta be like ‘ima just smoke this unlit cigarette whiles y’alls be shootn’
it's lit doe
One of his most underrated performances . This movie was underrated
That shotgun jamming is funny because those old Ithacas actually do jam like that. You can actually hold down the trigger and it will fire everytime you pump it as long as you hold the trigger. Its referred to as bump firing. I actually own one and it jams 1-3 times I empty the gun doing a bump fire. It seizes up the bolt when the gun gets older and you use 00 buck. He bump fired it in the movie which makes it pretty sick. Unless you have a Ithacas and I think maybe another old shotgun I can't recollect the name of don't bother attempting to bump fire some random shotgun. You'll look silly because the pump locks till you release the trigger and you'll probably shame your ancestors in some way which is never good.
When I watched this at the movies the crowd roared when Ray showed up 1:00 to cover Sly.
how old are you? lol
Such a good film . Stallone is immense!
I’m British, this is brilliant. The acting is superb and the the film score is brilliant. Bernard Herman would be proud. ❤️
Absolutely.
Give Stallone's Get Carter a go, he's exceptional in it.
Shootout with famous actors
Especially Ray Liotta w/ a Marlboro in his mouth.
Great view of New York in the background
I forgot how many fine actors are in this film. What a collection of talent.
The bagpipes are a nice touch. I need to watch this movie.
Cop Land (1997) Sylvester Stallone as Freddy, Harvey Keitel as Ray, Ray Liotta as Gary and Robert de Niro as Moe. Also in the cast are Robert Patrick, Peter Burg, Annabella Sciorra, Frank Vincent, Edie Falco, Cathy Moriarty, Arthur Nascarella, John Spencer and Michael Rapaport in their supporting roles.
You forgot Frank Vincent!
Criminally underrated film
I know he's all about Rambo and the Expendables, but THIS is a great character and acting job.
untill this ending. when he turns in to rambo
It’s kind of like the train station shootout in ‘The Untouchables’.
When Liotta came and shot Ray with the Cigarette in his mouth that was badass
Those Gunshots are brutal …man this movie is amazing I can’t believe people don’t talk about it much …really an amazing cast
All that gaming paid off for Stalone's character. Dude was fearless when going after that end game boss.
2:10 Poor doggie so cute .. 😁
Wow, I never recognized mustache guy as the T 1000
That was Robert Patrick he has been many movies in almost 30 years of acting including a small cameo as a terrorist in Die Hard 2, Terminator 2 of course being one of his most well known roles and has been villains in other movies and tv shows. Occasionally a good guy like in Walk The Line
This was one of the most shocking scenes I’ve ever witnessed
Enjoyed this sleeper flick in the theatre. Killer cast.
John Rambo and Henry Hill VS The Bad Lieutenant and Terminator 1000.
Even Tommy Verrcetti
This stupid channel ALWAYS cuts off the videos right before the best part, practically every time without fail. It's really quite remarkable how they consistently give you movie clip blue balls.
Advertisement at it's best, hey!?
I can't hear you Ray
@Rock Rockerson When are you whiners gonna realize CZcams BANS CLIPS IF THEYRE TOO LONG BECAUSE COPYRIGHT REASONS. Jesus...
@@BlaneNostalgia That's not true, copyright for movies doesn't work that way and I can tell you that for a fact because the full scene is still up from 10 years ago on another account. I bet you didn't think I'd reply after 6 years, bugga bugga!
@@RorySinn you choose to ignore the fact movie clips get banned on a daily basis because copyright rules/regulations just because you saw some old clips... You might as well stayed gone bro
This was definitely Stallone's Terminator moment 😁😁 Undeterred, just determined to complete the mission
Incredible scenery
This is such a great gun fight
Rambo shoots it out with Carlos Gervase and Dave Scatino. Props to whoever gets this!!
I was waiting for him to blow Hesh off with Artie Bucco's rifle he pulled out in season 1.
Like Goodfellas, Cop Land was a breeding ground for The Sopranos.
Infact they shot the pilot episode just a week before this came out in and around the same area of NJ!
Looking at this again..this scene is a bit Rambo-esque.
You should watch Gotti 1996
You think T1000 would’ve had his pistol already drawn before he rolled up.
Wow that was intense shootout ever
0:16 Yeeeppers, my *Remington 870* did that, too! THAT'S why I upgraded to a Mossberg 590-A1! 😆😆😆😆😆
Ithica 37, according to the IMFDB site. Almost any pump shotgun can glitch if short shucked. The Winchester Model 12 had the smoothest action of any pump shotgun I've tried, but wasn't common in law enforcement. Machined receiver, hand fitted parts, way too expensive for a duty shotgun.
This is one of those movies where you look for all the actors who appears in Goodfellas or Sopranos
R.I.P. Ray Liotta
When i die...it has to be the same as Robert Patrick
Wow that acting. I guess they ran out of Oscars that year, eh? 🤣
0:20 that awsome Background looks so mighty.
Awsome place to live.
It's like something out of Vice City in Liberty City
Absolutely love how time dilates in this scene. The run time of the clip is about 2 minutes 40 seconds but the entire shoot out, in real time is probably less than a minute. Combined with him being mute. Wow what a great piece.
one of my favourite films of all time
Mine as well.
Watched "Reptile" on Netflix and it reminded me of this.
A Joint at 6 & the day is a friend! Stallone need a oscar for this deep role as a lowbudget cop & Rey Liotta too! I saw this movie as a child in the 2000s & in Germoney cames this movie not often on TV! Why?
Great movie with great actors. I am shocked it's not as popular as his others.
0:26 T-1000 is no match for Rambo.
0:57 veteran cop casting a fishing line. 👌
1:00 that's what friends are for.
Best scene of the film!
John Rambo and Tommy Vercetti vs T-1000 and Mr White
Liotta making a face that screams "Karen, hide the gun for me!"
Demolition man vs T-1000
Very underrated movie
Any of these guys ever heard of this thing called a semi-automatic?
This is what happens when you steal Stallone's jar of Ray Liotta's Private Select
I'm I the only one who noticed at 0:21-22 that when Stallone shoots his revolver one shell is ejected ?? (It's very fast but you can see it on his right side of his face, just close to his hair, you'll see it 😂😂😂)
I don't think it was a shell, its too small. It was probably a spark from the unburned powder exiting the muzzle
I love this movie and scene
0:28, I was half expecting Robert Patrick's bullet wound to heal up with metal and wag the finger at Stallone.
That was him (sorry for not previously watching the movie)? I didn’t recognize him from the bigger hair and the mustache...
I live in Fort Lee NJ. A lot of parts were filmed in neighboring including this one Edgewater and Cliffside Park/Guttenburg
This Great Cast Poured It On. They Did Pour It On
stallone just put a dent on that car lol
RIP Ray Liotta
Its 2020 rioting, protests, dirty cops! This is a movie to watch. Stallone is terrific.
I think this was Stallone’s best performance ever. A real guy. Better than Rocky.
Rambo (Starhawk/Rocky) & Tommy Vercetti vs T-1000 Winston The Wolf Hank Morgan & Jimmy Conway (Neil McCauley/Murray)
RIP Ray
Rip Ray Liotta and John Spencer
epic scene and movie
Yes. I think one of the bad guys purposely shot a gun right next to his ear.
2:11 the dog's reaction 😲😲😲😲😲
Excellent movie
That was a great fucking movie
I don't think there's one scene in this movie with Ray Liotta where he isn't smoking
There is something odd in this scene. Ray Liotta arrives and shoots with a snub-nosed Revolver, but when he is inside the house he shoots with a semi-automatic pistol. Have I missed something?
he carried two guns, maybe?
Yep, I only noticed that rewatching the movie last week, and I've seen it before.
Yeah, cops often carry backups. But Figgis was basically an ex-cop at this point, quitting and leaving town before changing his mind to go back. Seems unlikely he'd still carry both the S&W snubby and Glock, or whatever he used at the end to shoot at Harvey Keitel's character on the stairs.
Probably continuity error. These scenes are usually filmed in bits and pieces, often over days, sometimes with separations of days or weeks. Especially if the outdoor and indoor scenes were different locations.
Yes it is! This is a very awesome movie! LOVE IT!
"That cop makes a mess, we got a case again". DeNiro was right!
What does he mean ? Does Moe really feigning to blow up the case ?
Cool guys don't get recoil when they fire guns with one hand.
Please get this movie on Netflix !! Need to see this movie again. Other than Rocky Balboa this is my favourite performance Stallones !
If you love it like do , buy it off Amazon. No streaming service has it so I bought the DVD. I wanted the bluray disc but it was not available but still look good on any modern TV.
No the best shootout scene, but it's perfect when coked out Ray Liotta shows up in his IROC-Z to save the day.
2:11 poor dog
Back in the 90s bullets hit home with minimal aiming and no reloading. Stubby .38s were effective as sniper rifles. Semi autos were for sissies.
