Bailing out after dark (an 'almost' wild camp)

- SO... I 'almost' did a camp a few nights ago when the weather had eased days after the storms. Sadly, things took a turn for the worse with Cadi and we had to up and leave after dark! These things happen, sometimes unpredictable and out of our control, but being prepared and knowing the 'way out' is the best plan B.

Good and responsible decision. I had to do the same last summer when one of my dogs injured himself. The most important thing is to take care of the little ones.
I'm so glad you bailed,-I wish all dogowners would take as good care of their dog as you do🥰 Lovely video Amber🤗
😊
Good for you looking after Cadi. Hope she's OK next time out.
Thanks Amber for looking after Cadi :)
Regardless of how your videos pan out, they’re a joy to watch. I follow quite a few, but yours, with your beautiful photography and measured commentary, are so relaxing. I’m a busy teacher and I look forward to escaping the chaos through your wonderful (too short) hour use.🥰
Thanks Chris, that’s lovely to hear 😊
And omg!! I totally *gasped* when you showed that MAN!!! (Tree) lol
Gorgeous scenery!
Great video 👍 Bailin’ ain’t failin’ 🤓
Have never camped and have no inclination to camp, but I find your videos fascinating and very calming, and the scenery is simply stunning. 😊
Thank you 😃
Poor gal. Glad she got home safe.
Bailed on many of camps. No shame. Well done for making the right decision for your beautiful little girl!
Wow you have Bjorn Andreas Bull-Hansen as one of your followers, fantastic bloke!! serious Kudos. Go girl!!
👍👍👍.
Wise choice .. follow your gut feel. There is always the next time.
Perhaps she 'knew' ..
Take care ..
I wasn't expecting the weather to be the reason for leaving, I thought there was going to be a lot more ticks causing the decision to move on. You don't want Cadi being nervous each time you set out with a backpack. Definitely the right choice.
Huge respect - thank you for thinking about your buddy
Good on you for doing what’s best for Cadi ☺️
Beautiful dog. I’m glad you were prepared to bail out to look after Cadi. It looked magnificent out there with Cadi prior to the wind. Shame you had to bail from your own personal experience but from a video perspective it was still high quality.
100% agree with this content, stay safe my lovely. x
I loved it and your fantastic..................
EXCELLENT great stuff 100%
Great Post
We don't need to know exactly where you are, or the type of tent or where you intend to go. Just the sights sounds and cool music had me relaxed in seconds. Lovely posting. Living in Snowdonia I can relate to just sitting watching and listening part way up a hill, without having to fight with the mountain. Sorry your dog was distressed but good to see her recover.
Immensive stuff. You have my vote. 😆I watch and watch again! All best to you! I will be 1, click, away. see ya.
Hope one day be doing duo hicking... ❤️ Just amazing chills.!!, & Scenary 😍
Enjoy watching your videos. Good to be so considerate of your dog, shows proper caring. I was amused by the man …. Who was a tree! I admit when I first saw it I also thought it was a man who looked rather tall and seemed to be standing staring! Was quite relieved when you said it was a tree! 🤣
😂 I know - extremely creepy if it had been!
What a great decision, Amber. Our fur people are an important part of our family. They depend on us for their care. Love watching your videos, no matter how they traverse. 👋🏻
The weather is so unpredictable and can change so quickly in the hills Amber, and with the rain battering against your window you made the right decision to bale also thinking about Cadi to.
ticks - aarrgghhh my worst nightmare! Good decision to leave.
excellent decision Amber, shows great compassion and responsibility towards Cadi. I am exactly the same with Bentley my gsd 😍😘🥰
Thanks Rob, they rely so much on us and keeping them safe. Always got her well-being at the forefront of my mind when I take her on these camps 👌🏻
Very enjoyable video. Best to bail if in any doubt. There is always another day and another opportunity . Oh and Cadi is adorable 😍
You know what?? The last thing I want to do is bail in the middle of the night! I am such a scary cat! I can't stand the idea of having to pack in pitch black and make my way back!! I just can't!! I donno how you do it!!
I would have stuck through the night and leave when the sun is fully out again! Lol
You made the right decision. Stay safe out there.
subbed to your channel you did the right thing
Very good decision to to bail out from the bad weather. We should take care of our companions ( your nice dog ) Next time she'll be ok. New love outdoors friend here just subscribe and like your awesome video. Thank you for sharing your very adventurous camping video my friend 🤝👍👍👍😀
Definitely the right decision. Good for you.
Good for you Amber! Right decision. Still enjoyed it. Stay safe
Thank you for yet another lovely video. I enjoy trying to work out where you are and only very occasionally do you defeat me! I think it was about 23 or 24 years ago with my son (7 at the time) out for a quick overnighter in Cwm Lloer when a really savage wind came out of nowhere and broke a North Face geodesic tent pole and a big rip in a panel. Not forecast but caused an immediate bail, and when we reached the car, near Little Tryfan, it was perfectly still without a whisper of a breeze! Returned the tent to TNE with a note of the date, time and place of broken pole and ripped panel, which was repaired and returned back to me within a week free of charge.
Very similar story to what happened here then! We weren’t as high up as Cwm Lloer but the wind was brutal against the tent.
If one tree 🌲 will grow there, a reforestation project should be started.
Oh!!! It's so nice seeing a lady hiker!! Wow it's so exciting for me!!
You film so beautifully!!! You made such beautiful footage I was so .... it took my breath away!! And you seem so sweet as well!
Oh your sweet dog! I understand now why you bailed! It's so understandable! I would have stuck it out, but then it's only me.
Can I ask, what software so you edit your shots??
And how do you film it all so lovely (with the lovely focuse points, foreground in the grass, and focuse more on subject??)
I use Premiere Pro to edit my videos, thanks for the lovely comment :)
It's all about having fun and staying out there didn't look like much fun at all. On the positive side you got a walk and some tea so that is a win!
Exactly! 😁
Great channel and video! Well done. Looks like such an amazing place to explore. Such beautiful footage of the sun through the clouds. Beautiful dog. New follower here. Crow✌️
Thank you!
Lovely film. Glad Cadi was ok. What’s the radio that you take with you? It’s in the background to some of your shots, and looks really sweet!
Hello from Illinois. Sorry to hear the tics are out so early there, we have snow on the ground here so I didn't see any the last time I went hammock camping. Nice dog. :)
I was nearby to there at gwern gof uchaf on the same night. It was very windy even down there so don’t blame you bailing
My dog hates win on the tent so I'm afraid I'd of done the exact same thing and bounced 😅
Great video again
Definitely knowing when to bail is the key.not sure about using the candle in the tent when it's that windy though.as for the xtherm I used mine last night for 1st time it's excellent I got the large for the extra width a lot better than my s2s either light xt I found that 2 narrow
Thanks, yeah from the small time I lay on it, it was very warm! 🙈 and the candle lantern is totally enclosed apart from little slits in the top, so would be impossible to catch fire, but I’d never leave it unattended just in case 👍🏻
All good learning experience , Good to ear mark back up locations' en route encase it changes , it must be crazy loud for a dog though.
Yes, great advice… although the lower ground was incredibly boggy we would have woken up in a puddle 🙈
Hi ... I've become a big fan of your hiking / camping / wild-swimming posts.... and I very much doubt if this is true but, I also follow Jodie Boo's YT channels and I swear you two could be twins / sisters / long-lost cousins.
Good call, you wouldn't have slept with that noise anyways and dog would have freaked out all night.
Hey Amber I know it's highly unlikely you will see this... But first we'll done you absolutely made the right decision, caddie comes first and she would do the same for you!!! Secondly the thermarest pad. I'm in the same boat looking at the xfrirm lemon, medium pad and it's for the weight save and packing dimensions. Understandably you didn't get to fully review it but can I be a cheeky so and so and ask if it was light, packed easy and fitted in your rucksack better? Big fan keep up the good work!!! Subscribed for caddie stayed for Amber 🤣
Hi Callum, I always read all my comments 😉 yes the thermarest Xtherm was great, so lightweight and from the few hours I spent on it - very warm! I will do a proper review of it on the next camp but so far so good. Is the yellow one the x-lite? I think that has slightly less of an R rating (less warm) but it’s supposed to be lighter, so possibly a good trade off if you want lightweight gear.
Thanks for your comment Callum 😊
Good call Amber. Nothing worse than seeing people who don't consider their dogs. Cheers, ATB.
Soon be summer cadi 🙂
I'm a new subscriber really enjoying your videos, what is the tent you are using here looks light and well made
Bless I hope Cadi is OK now I take my dogs on camping trips I feel for you both . I have had to buy a bigger tent for us all
Thanks Dan, it’s a Terra Nova Southern Cross 1 tent, only recently upgraded to it from my MSR elixir, but very happy with it so far!
@@AmberinEryri thank you looking forward to your next adventure Amber & Cari
Good decision, look after the dog, theres always more camps to come
wher are u from?
Legends please in portugueses🙏🙏
Besides the dog there's just no point staying out if your not enjoying being out. Just pointless.
Its better than some whom are risking themselves and possibly others by going out in storms just to get you tuber likes.
Definatley did the right thing for cadi, and judging by the rain lashing against the window. Proberbly for you also. Spring and summer not to far away now 😁 There will always be another time.. 🏞️🏴
