Thanks. Upgrading features to older bodies via firmware was one of the reasons people because loyal to Fuji. I’ve been yelling about this for some time. If no one tells Fuji that we’ve noticed they have abandoned us and backpedaled then they won’t do anything. Probably won’t anyway, but more of us need to be pointing this change in policy out. I’ve even heard some reviewers still advertising this upgrade policy even though it seems to have been dead for some time now. Now what we get is, “minor bug fixes.”

I dont know if this has been said already, but if you import multiple images to Metaimage, you can command + A to select all, then do batch EXIF edits instead of having to change it for each individual image!

Is there a good way to bulk do the C1 Exif trick? For example, cull photos then apply presets in C1, then maybe export them as a Tiff file to Lightroom? I use LR on an iPad so the C1 way seems a long winded route.
Also I winder why you can’t also fool Lightroom with the exif trick.

Followed all of your instructions but in Capture One Express for Fuji, none of the ICC profiles you show are available. I only see, for any of the Generic ICC camera profiles I apply, just Auto, Film Extra Shadow, Film High Contrast, Film Standard and Linear Respose. Is this because in order to see the full range of ICC profiles for any camera you need to buy the full version?

I"m still using Capture One 12 express and by default I get "Eterna" profile (which was available on XT3 and camera that came after) for my XT20 files. Coming back to the topic of changing the exif data, I go by iridient X-transformer. There is actually an option in IXT for you to change the model type when you are converting from RAF to DNG. There are at least 2 benefits using this. 1) You don't need to mess up the exif data of the original RAF files. 2) Iridient X -Transformer helped take care of the demosaic issue X-Trans files has with LR after the files are converted to DNG format.

Hi Andrew, I've followed your channel for a while, really love your videos. I was wondering if you'd thought about making a video talking about the differences between the film profiles, what you like/dislike about each one, and what you use them for, or how you use them as starting points for edits. This is something I'm really interested in hearing other photographers thoughts on, and I really love your style because I feel it's similar to how I like to shoot so would love to hear what your favorite/least favorite profiles are.

I like to get it right in camera as much as possible. • @migueldelacruzbarralesalca9762

Good but what would be really nice would be being able to import jpeg adjustments to the raw on Capture One so one starts editing from similar point the incamera-cooked jpeg is.
Do you know a way of doing it? Are there standard equivalences/styles on Capture One to the incamera jpeg adjustments? (Example: +1 exposure on camera = +0,5 exposure and +2 brightness con Capture One) That would be soooo useful for some of us. One spends hours creating incamera profiles and sometimes is very tricky and time consuming to replicate on Capture One.
    Cheers

Cool. The "not enough processing power" is a total copout. It's just a profile. When Classic Neg came out I made a preset, style and LUT that duplicated it verbatim. It's not some fuji rocket science. It's just a color LUT more or less.

    • @artsilva

    • @scottparis6355

Hard to believe that Acros requires more "processing power" than any color profile.

    • @artsilva
      @artsilva Před 4 lety +4

@@scottparis6355 You do understand how color conversions work, right.
Just because it is B&W doesn't mean it's that simple, it's essentially a more intense process than "any other color profile".
Billions of colors (taking 14bit color information these cameras have into account) ALL have to be converted into a specific point in the gray scale, and not a variation of its color already captured in standard color profiles. No, THIS is a complete translation of light coming thru the filter array... think about it.
That is a lot of math data conversion taking place in each pixel.
Now add the red, green and yellow filter versions that Acros and others ship with and you quadrupled all that process power.
This not only happens with Acros but also with other B&W modes as well as other color profiles.
The more you know.... you're welcome.

A yearly Madonna procession came through, lots of Latino faces, lots of flower wreaths, but because if the smoke in the air, the shots I took all looked like a very strong, very rich VPS negative look. Looks like the camera name is more important than the actual software line, since the latter file capture one changes that software line, so it doesn't appear that it is using the software metadata to restrict the ICC profiles. I have the X-T30, changed both camera model and software to X-T4, using ExifTool. Imported into Capture One 13.1.2 and it still processes it as X-T30(no bleach bypass).
Perhaps something changed so this trick will no longer work...
UPDATE: You need to change your original file name. If you keep the same name as the one the camera gives it, Capture one still sees it as that camera. For verification, I changed it back to the original name, re-imported it, and it recognized the original camera again.
Also, I found that this particular raw file was edited once before I did any of this. When I tried the video trick on an image that I never imported before, it worked just as the video showed.
Anyway, if editing the metadata doesn't work, try rename the file.

After watching the video several times my conclusion is I still need an app for Windows as Metalmage is Mac only. Does anybody have a recommendation? Thanks!

Well, you can do similar thing with the Iridient X- Transformer. When you convert the RAF to DNG, be sure to change the model type of the camera to your desire one.

This is great!! So.........couldn't I do this with any camera? I have a Sony A7R3. Surely if I just edited my pictures' EXIF to say X-T4........... Maybe I should just try it and see what happens!

This is really nice to know. However, my biggest problem with the missing Film simulations is, that some very capable cameras, like the X E3, can't shoot video in Eterna. And since Flog is obviously not an option either (to apply eterna in post like with stills here), that's a real bummer to me. =/
