    * DO NOT * cash tip the drivers on either platform. The drivers can see total payout before accepting the pickup/dropoff. If you don't tip in the app, the drivers would think you're a non-tipper and your order will bounce around until someone accept it. Subsequently, your food will get cold and soggy when it's arrived.
    Disclosure: I'm a part-time DoorDash/Ubereats driver.

same here. order comes on my screen no-tip...DECLINE. DECLINE...10, 15 orders in row.....min tip is $5 or 15% of order or $2 per mile whichever is greater. Dash is only paying us 3$ of their money to deliver. When you tip 2$...Ask yourself would YOU drive to that establishment and all the way to your house AND have to wait for that order...(might be a 20 or 30 minute ordeal) for 3$ dash pay+ 2$ tip = 5$?.......NOPE.

Pro-tip from driver: if you order food delivery at night PUT ON YOUR DAMN PORCH LIGHT.
If the number of your house is hard to find, behind a bush, nonexistent, leave directions which describe the color of your house, what's in front of it,or something like that.
For example, I was delivering a late night order to an area where thr numbers were hard to find. I literally could not find rhe addresses on the houses, no lights on, and it wasn't on the street either. Finally guy walks up and I confirm its him. I tell him sorry I couldn't find the house numbers and he's like yeah it's hard to see (first flag). He tries to show me where it is and he, the person who lives there, literally could not find it himself ( mega flag)😂.You live here and you can't find it, so how can I, I thought to myself. We said our goodbyes and I never found out where that stupid house number was.
Also, type your address in, don't be lazy and drop the pin. The drop isn't always accurate when you drop it. If it shows your foods dropped off and it's not where you said to leave it go check your neighbors houses.
Just last night I had an order that was supposed to be left at the door but the address was wrong.Luckily he had preemptively texted me and described his house because when I got to the address it did not look how he told me ( same color but no green door). His house was two houses down from the listed address and if he hadn't described his house I would have delivered it to the wrong one.
Fortunately when I discovered the error I texted him to confirm his address and he got his food.

Subtotal UE: $17.45 vs. DD: $24.60

Even crazier is that I signed up for DD Pass which is supposed to save 10% and DD was still way more expensive.
I wasn't hungry enough to make both purchases and compare what arrived, but I cannot imagine that the portion sizes would be different. I imagine that a Chinese restaurant puts the same amount of noodles in the small size of both orders. But, I did not do a side by side test.

My work involves lunch meetings with offices around southern California. I'ved used all of these services for small to larger orders and they are all terrible. They've all cancelled on me within an hour of delivery date, which puts me in a tough spot. All of these services are designed around the fact that the app doesn't notify the delivery to the driver until right before. So they don't verify if the restaurant can do the order or not. DO NOT COUNT ON THESE SERVICES if it relates to your work or you are going to be royally screwed.

MY problem with both with the contactless delivery is that I live in a condo building. Some of the drivers won't even try and contact the customers if they have issues getting in. @mama2bebes Před 3 lety +2

I'm sorry about that. I'm currently driving for UberEATS. Decent drivers will call you if there's an issue. But time is money, for drivers. I know there are some drivers who hate apartment/condo complexes because Uber does not pay us for the extra time to figure out how to get let in, to find our way through the maze to your door and find our way back. Your best bet is to leave the gate code plus detailed directions in your customer profile, and stay by your phone. The app can be glitchy, so you can communicate by text message as well. When you see the driver has arrived at the restaurant, send the message with the gate code and directions. If getting to your door is time-intensive, please tip accordingly.

Hi, I am from India, and here, Uber eats is a poor performer because of the fact that they don’t have many vegetarian restaurants, and this is something I have noticed always.. the kind of restaurants also have limited menu options and many a times they’re plain uninspiring... we have other options, one called “Zomato”, an app mostly which has forayed into few south East Asian countries and maybe Eastern European countries and another called Swiggy.. this is a great comparison and if I were to be in the US, the first choice for me in terms of food ordering would be by default “doordash”... don’t know why but I somehow love that company... maybe this review also cemented my love for doordash as they charge kinda lesser delivery charges and fees compared to über eats, again depending on location and other factors... brilliant review, and yes I have heard that delivery executives kinda get grumpy if u don’t tip them properly... surprises me because here in India, whether they’re tipped or not, they can’t avoid deliveries @ all!!... differences galore!!... nice review, and the verdict is as expected, where the end user chooses what’s good for them... nice, enjoyable..

I worked for doordash just outside of Seattle WA for just over 6 months and hated it, I just switched to Ubereats and find it a way better company to work for. Doordash is a scam that uses their driver ratings as a tool to suppress driver wages - they flood my app with delivery opportunities that are 10 to 30 miles away and outside of my delivery zone (for $5 or $10 worth of pay including tip), this means these are 20 to 60 mile deliveries by the time I drop off the food and drive back to my delivery zone. If I decline the orders then doordash puts my account on idle and quits sending me new delivery opportunities, this also lowers my acceptance rating, meaning, I don’t qualify for the top dasher program (which lowers my pay for future deliveries). I also find doordash support unhelpful, and have had them blatantly lie to me a few times about my pay - they have refused to pay me the half pay when another driver mistakenly takes my delivery, or the restaurant is closed, which is literally theft of wages. Doordash also has biases built into their app that prioritizes new drivers, so the longer you work for doordash the worse the pay becomes. Just my experience working for doordash- low pay, theft of wages, super frustrating app that is always having issues, dasher app is designed to retaliate against drivers that decline low paying delivery opportunities.

Conclusion, never order from a restaurant using these apps if you want your local restaurant to survive.

Of course you can. However I wouldn't try that during peak hour, it could take 1-2 hr for your order to arrive. Worst case, DD/UberEats will can cancel your order due to no driver accept your order.
