The way Knuckles sees Tikal's spirit fly by and is completely unfazed makes me think she regularly guides him.
I love the thought of that. It's nice to know she may be with him everyday.
I feel like that was Sage tricking Knuckles, cause he did follow it and ultimately ended up trapped.
She might be the answer for why he leaves the island so much. Her telling him that he’s needed elsewhere for the greater good. That would be a fabulous retcon.

@@NeroBaelside13 Maybe, but I haven't played frontiers yet so maybe sage was made in cyberspace by eggman and that is Tikal spirit shown through out sonic adventure, I still wonder if she can change back into her regular form

Gosh it feels so good to see Knuckles finally PUNCH something again! You can feel the weight behind every hit he throws on those bots and I love it!
Makes me wish for anime style Sonic animation series like Sonic X again! Knuckles back in his prime form again the way he should be! The lore implications with Angel Island and the Starfall Islands grow stronger can’t wait to see what it all means!

We may get more lore on the Emeralds, what we know so far is that they’ve been part of many civilisation and used to restore the planet when broken.
At some point, the Master Emerald was supposedly created by the gods to neutralise the Chaos Emeralds when misused.
Yeaah, this made me excited to find out who created the emeralds, like the namekians from DB, im actually surprised i didn’t ask myself that all this time playing sonic games.
@@slowpoke_r Tbf until they actually brought the lore into the creation of the emeralds, it was easy to assume that extremely powerful artifacts like the Chaos Emeralds were constants of the world that have always existed rather than something that created by living creatures
@@slowpoke_r According to the last prologue comic, the Starfall Islands and its tech originally belonged to the Ancients. Likely taking some inspiration from Sonic Boom, which that continuity they worked on what’s known as the Chaos Crystals. So they may be reworking that lore into the main canon.
I also have a theory that perhaps Angel Island was originally one of the Starfall Islands before its ascension to the sky, would explain the Cyber Space tech Knuckles just found.
@@ghostspider2056 Not to seem rude but Ian confirmed that Angel Island was not part of the Starfall Island cause it was revealed in SA1 that Angel Islands used to be a part of the Mystic Ruins before Tikal lifted it up to quarantine Chaos

Head canon: The rock Knuckles threw at that one robot is the same one he destroyed Tails communicator in the last Tails Tube episode.

2022 was easily the best year for this red lug. Between being given the nice Flynn writing, and having an incredible movie appearance.
Ian flynn literally takes the modern writing and this comes from the adventure game anyways

@@goddessyamato5238 I can kinda understand the adventure part, but man was it necessary. After all the ignored continuity and butchered characterizations, Knuckles needed this introduction to fix both these problems. The important thing here is that the writing perfectly captures his character and current situation while tying it in to the Frontiers storyline. In an emotional way, even.
As for this being 2010 writing... I simply could not disagree more.
@@spec___ his character was never butchered nor was poorly excuted. He was only prominent in one game during the 2010s and that was forces but he was there only to help defeat eggman since conquered everything. And now frontiers. And knuckles last game to where he actually he depth in his character was adventure 1 adventure he was just thrown into the story. Heroes he was already there and shadow the same and 06 he showed up for no reason. So saying the 2010s or lack of depth is dumb when really it has nothing to do with that. And atleast the 2010 era gave knuckles better reasons for actually being there. Like I said I’ll never understand why y’all don’t criticize adventure 2 for throwing him into the game when shadow straight told eggman to bring me the chaos emeralds and meet me on the arc and then he stills the master emerald just so knuckles can break it and rouge is there first appearance for no reason as to how she got there

What if Angel Island originally was part of the Starfall islands, the original tribe was that ancient tribe of this game and the Echidna took their island and build a village where the Master Emerald is and they tried to take the Emerald power when it isn't belong to them, Perhaps that is why the Master Emerald created Chaos, it chose a Chao to protect his brothers and the temple from the Echidnas who tried to invade it, but allowed the entrance of Tikal's grandmother and then Tikal since they they were of pure heart unlike the rest of the Echidna, after the invasion of the Echidnas, Perfect Chaos destroyed the village but not all the Echidnas, they only saw in Chaos hatred and destruction before he was locked inside the Master Emerald, the surviving Echidnas mistakenly thought that Chaos was a god, punishing them for being power hungry, giving him the name of the god of destruction because it is the only thing they ever saw of him, the survivors made the mural of Chaos destroying the world and they take the job of protecting the Master Emerald so that it would not fall into the wrong hands and this would not be repeated, but this knowledge was lost in time, remaining only as it is a duty without knowing why they had to do this, Knuckles being the last descendant of that line and the last of his race
Looking at the prologue just gives me more hope about Sonic Frontiers. Not only for the game experience but the overall plot as well.
*This* is the Knuckles I’ve been missing. I’m so relieved that Frontiers is taking Modern Sonic back to its more serious roots during the Adventure days.
Well, Sonic in general. We see Sky Sanctuary here. I think the Classic/Modern split is dead. There's technically a Mania/main timeline split I guess, because of Generations, but Sonic 1, CD, 2, and 3 are all a part of the mythos again. That was a weird time

Despite the ending showing that he needs the rescue. However, If a Knuckles the Echidna Solo Game was officially announced with the story settings in the modern timeline my only words to that would be - Take my money! already!

Before angel island? and what ancients came first contact with the emeralds? What secrets does angel island hold? So many questions, so much unanswered? Maby frontiers should shed some light!

This year has not just been the year for Sonic but for Tails and Knuckles as well. It really has.
Like to the people at SEGA, Sonic Team and the others who been working on all these amazing content really brought Sonic and gang back up the hype levels they deserve.
Especially with poor Knuckles and the utter chaos he and the other characters have gone through the years.
Seeing how they're really establishing the lore and not being as cautious/shy about it is great. Like they're taking it more serious and acknowledging how they do have a special thing here.

Like, Are Angel Island and Starfall Islands connected? Most islands there has floating "sanctuaries". Did the Echidnas resided on these islands? Who built the Emerald Altar? did Kocos lived amongst Chao? I'm so curious! I wanna know the connection. With Ian Flynn writing the script, I think we're gonna have an incredible and epic storytelling.
Indeed! Frontiers's story will most likely tackle the orgin of the chaos emeralds, the mystery of the islands and how knuckle and sage's ancestors are involved.
One absolutely dark possibility to consider:
That Koco tried to use the gear to escape the star fall islands but died once he got to angel island, leaving only the "mask" (A.K.A. it's corpse) behind because the stones crushed it while it was tryigng to escape.

Maybe the Kocos evolved into Chao, and it's possible that Angel Island is one of the Starfall Islands, maybe it was invaded and conquered by the Echidna tribe

and the way you described the dynamic between sonic and knuckles was awesome and i’ve never put much thought into that either.
and i agree that knuckles must be in an incredibly stressed out state of mind, cuz for all he knows, he’s trapped alone in some strange dimension with no way of getting home to his now unprotected master emerald and island.
this is why i’m really looking forward to seeing how he’ll interact with Sonic once he is freed.

The animation style is really good, shoot can you imagine a remade Sonic SatAM with that style? A fully traditional animated series even feature dah gurls Whisper and Tangle in that style would be highly welcomed. Or an IDW animated series.

This might be weird, but my favorite part of this animation is Knuckles punching the tree to get the fruit down for the Chao to eat.
this and the sonic movie made me realise what knuckles' true character is. for ages I saw him as just the guy that punches things and is sometimes dumb but now I see he's much more than that.

How the hell!? Did they give us such an interesting character full of such lore & not give us a solo or just MC-focused Knuckles the echidna Game. Knuckles literally says he finds something new his island every single day. To clarify when I say a solo Game for him I mean a new game in these current modern times
Knuckles Chaotix on 32X is pretty much the only Knuckles themed game I know of.
