  • Roy Learns WHEEL LANDINGS IN THE CESSNA 180/185 SKYWAGON Pt.2.
Roy Williams, owner of Airframe Components learns wheel landings from Leigh Smith, owner of Specialty Flight Training and a captain for a major airline.
In this video, Pt.2, Roy and Leigh are in the Airframe Components hangar raising the tail of the aircraft to show how much propeller clearance remains.
Can a pilot fall out of his seat if the tail is raised too much?
Can the propeller hit the ground?
See the highlights version of this video on our CZcams channel.
This is a 3-part series of videos about wheel landings:
    1. Roy and Leigh in the hangar discussing details of how to wheel land a Cessna Skywagon.
    2. Roy and Leigh in the hangar raising the tail of the aircraft to show how much propeller clearance remains.
    3. Roy and Leigh in flight with audio of Leigh “talking through” the maneuver while Roy manipulates the controls in the Skywagon. Both grass and airport landings are covered.

This was really helpful. Thanks for showing visually just how difficult it would be to get the nose low enough for a prop strike!

    Aah….ain’t gonna just swing down….it’s gonna bounce….especially if it’s loaded….and it’ll hit when you’re level if you hit hard…solution: DONT….
