- Another classic semi auto for you to enjoy this week. A gun that perhaps not many shooters are aware of and even less will know the story of it.
Built as an amalgamation of two of the manufacturing giants of the industry the B80 was the result of an interesting but short term 'partnership' Whilst it was common for (in particular) Spanish and Italian gunmakers to produce guns for other makers/distributors back in the 1980's this agreement was very different.
As always a bit of history, specifications and opinion here on the @eastfieldgunroom channel. - Sport
I have a 12ga and a 20ga B2000. Both are reliable and a pleasure to shoot. The loading port is on the side and the capacity is five shells. The downside of both guns is the cleaning of the gas system. In my opinion, they were over engineered but I still love them.
Amazing. I literally held one of these yesterday at a gun dealer.
I had one of these many years ago and it proved to be a very good reliable gun. Easy taken apart to clean and shot very well. Good review thanking you
Thank you for your comment. I am pleased that you enjoyed the video. They were and still are a great gun. Kind regards, Matthew
Really interesting gun and a great review - so much info.
Thank you for your comment and kind words. When it comes to information I do try and go the extra mile. Glad that you enjoyed it. Kind regards, Matthew
Great review Matt - I had a B80 in the early nineties. Lovely gun and rock solid reliability.
Thank you for your comment, I am pleased that you enjoyed the video. I love the B80. Kind regards, Matthew
Thanks for that. I've had mine since 1988. Have used it at nearly every shooting discipline bar pheasant shooting. Still use it and it's never gave one bit of trouble. Aesthetically not to everyone's taste. I'll never give mine up. Great to hear about its history and development. Looking forward to your next review.
Thank you for your comment, I am pleased that you found the video interesting and informative. Kind regards, Matthew
Good thorough review 👍

Excellent review Matt. I recall owning one which was very reliable.

Don't think so they are Japanese aren't they and assembled all over the world like Portugal etc
Another Great Video Matthew 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
My mate had a B 80 28" fixed 1/2 choke OK but it jammed a bit cartridge fussy and he cleaned it well , I think people under estimate the new Browning Maxus ,I think they are the most reliable gun ever ,got a 1&2 a pleasure to shoot. we have even had it shooting 21g get that.😊😊
Nice review Matthew. Can you reckoned a good semi auto for clays, ideally in 20 bore please?
Thank you for your comment, I am pleased that you enjoy the review. I guess that it comes down to budget. Feel free to contact me directly to discuss. Kind regards, Matthew
I have been meaning to say how well you show these guns in the shoulder you manage to show the guns off without covering them with your hands, but then we wouldn't expect anything less 😂😂 PS was the barber busy 🤣🤣
Thank you for your comment, another classic😂. My barber is always busy. Kind regards, Matthew
That is a beautiful thing
Oh, what tangled webs we weave. Yes, Browning was desperate to produce a successful gas operated semi-auto after the failure of the B2000. If I remember correctly, the deal to share technology happened after FN was sold to GIAT. I believe GIAT had some ownership stake in Beretta at the time so that fact helped expedite the process. Beretta was making a name for themselves in the US but they did not have the market share they had hoped for. The B80 using the Beretta tech and the Browning name seems to be the reason the collaboration happened. The B80 itself is a good shotgun. While a lot of the alloy receiver guns are quite tired the steel receiver versions are still in use today by hard core believers.
Thank you for your comment and the information. It is indeed a good shotgun. Kind regards, Matthew
Try not to let the bolt run home free when the barrel is not attached! It will possibly hit the bolt handle and ruin it! I had one of these, it was a great gun and a great video!
Thank you for your comment. Regards to the bolt running home I never gave it a second thought at the time. Thank you for pointing this out. I won't do it again for sure. Kind regards, Matthew
Hi Matt. Can you do a historic review of Westley Richards please.
Thank you for your comment. This is not something that I had planned as of yet but I will give it some consideration. Kind regards, Matthew
Ok Matt no worries. Something for the future.
I'm convinced we have Winchester to blame for Browning's downfall in US popularity. "Ollie" caused John to go to the Belgians for his Auto-5. Then Browning went to Miroku. Total lack of concern for America.
Could you do a review of a Zoli Kronos
Thank you for your comment. I am sure that this is something that we will review at some point. Kind regards, Matthew
B80 was a great gun
You lost me when I saw you release the bolt without the barrel installed, slamming the bolt handle into the receiver..... 😢
Thank you for your comment. Apologies for that I never gave it a thought at the time. Bad form from me though. Kind regards, Matthew
