- The Word Bearers appeared to be the most unified Traitor Legion of them all, so that begs the question - were there any Loyalist Word Bearers?

Loyalist Wordbearers really are a rare Pokemon... Definitely adds some nice contrast to the usual moustache twirling villains we are used to.

the museum necron: got to catch them all

Covenant of Fire are the best loyalist Word Bearers ever.
Rare Pokémon or rare pal since that’s popular now
Video Ideas: • The least liked member of each legion.
• How age effects combat abilities of each faction
• Which Space marine chapter would do the best if they weren’t space marines (what if the chapter’s tactics were used by astra militarum)
• Most powerful unnamed space marines
• Weakest custodian
• derpiest faith based miracles
• Best (most heartwarming) moment for each primarch
Anchorite soloing the wordbearers then just returning to his cell after is just gold
he is what the world bearers where suposed to be, a blazing flame of zeal that would purify everything, proving that everything that chaos touches gets shittier
@@akumakazenoryu For real, loyalists Lorgar and Angron without the Nails, and their Legions, would have been AMAZING together.
@briantaulbee5744 One teaches you about the god emperor and the other one send you to him.

Loyalist Wordbearer Dreadnaught: Let me die.
Ultramarine: No.
Dreadnaught: Then at least give me parchment so this cult seems semi competent.
Ultramarine: Sure thing. Frak Lorgar.
Either let me die or let me make this shit actually decent!

Cool Video Majorkill, now do Alpha Legion lore drunk or Lil Timmy's gonna get resurrected by Slaanesh.
I second this.
Slannesh? More like Tzeentch.
Hydra Dominatus
Oh we have been infiltrated !!!
Yes!
Anchorite gets the "Rylanor Lifetime Achievement Award" for his esteemed work in raising a big mechanical middle finger to his traitor genefather.
Lol
I feel like that should be a thing
And is still alive to this day
I hate that the word bearers have such a dope design but are massive ballsacks.
Clearly they are thinbloods unlike the Terran born
Love the Eastern Orthodox warrior monk stylings that one artist has for his pre-Heresy Word Bearers, a particularly nice counter to the Western Christian stylings of the Ecclesiarchy and the Sisters of Battle.
@@Damien_N where i can find it?
Loyalist Word Bearer's geneseed chapter being descendants of Anchorite would be cool...
Sons of the Penitent
penitent brothers
Only the Penitent Man Shall Pass
How would you get gene seed frim this man
Forgot to mention the coolest bit of lore about the Anchorite. While crushing the Word Bearers, his faith and devotion manifested as a blinding golden light that blinded and stunned every traitor. The loyalists who witnessed it claimed that in the golden light, he had the visage of the Emperor himself where his head was, speaking the ancient words.
If precedent is anything to go by, both will get stabbed by Erebus and die unceremoniously.
I kinda want this to happen because the Anchorite as a Demon of the Emperor would honestly be such a dope final redemption for him.
In the grimm darkness of the 41st millennium, there is atonement.
I really hope the Anchorite will return. I was floored by his first appearence, and Guilliman slowly embracing the idea that Big E. might have become a legit god would fit so well with the loyalist Word Bearers concept. 😎
Loyal Word Bearers - Jahovah's Witnesses of the Imperium. Except they don't bother knocking on your door.
I’m gonna take this as a complement for us, at least you’re not comparing us to traitor Word bearers.
@@reubeytuesday9550I mean you guys wanna show us the good side of being devoted to a god. Which to me personally sounds like utter lunacy, but welp I'm an atheist so there goes that. At least you don't want to convince to serve an entity that corrupts your whole body, soul and mind.
They don't knock on your door, they just kick it in handcuffs you to a chair and start preaching to you till you are brainwashed into agreeing with them.

It's strange to have some of the genuinely coolest space marines come from one of the least cool traitor legions. Nice video!
Word Bearers are plenty cool ngl
My homebrew chapter are loyalist Word Bearers that survived the purges but got lost in the warp for the Heresy.
Love the concept of Loyalist WB.
I've just got back into the hobby and am thinking of doing a homebrew chapter of night Lords and alpha legion that are renegades just out there being stealthy terror squads

Me: consider headcannons Red Scorpions as loyalist Word Bearers
Understandable, Crusade On.
That, or they are Iron Warriors. 😎
@@Archon3960 no no, he's got a point. they are renowned for having a very stable geneseed(a thing word bearers were known for) and are very secretive about their origin as a chapter, almost as if they are ashamed of it. granted, last one's a bit of a stretch but still
Although they clearly aren't, I always liked the idea of the Black Templars being Loyalist Word Bearers.
@@Elthenar Nah. Black Templars being Fists just fits. They are the spear to the Fist's fortification. Sigismund also made a very simple rule for the Templar to follow in order to ensure the Last Wall Protocol will succeed no matter what...that the Templar remain at Legion strength. In this way, should the protocol be triggered the Fists will reform and be above full legion strength immediately.
Gotta say that one thing I can never disagree with Majorkill on is how fucking awesome Loyalists from Traitor Legions are
Imagine being a loyalist word bearer who fought for the emperor, believed in the emperor despite it all. And was sent to a random sector of the galaxy, and then left to the devices of the war. A chapter of ‘ultramarines’ or others.
Then they see the imperium become a religious state for the imperium. Imagine the absolute vindication.
I would love to see a word bearer successor chapter led by the Anchorite.
The anchorite... how ever you spell it sounds dope af. I love dreadnoughts, and the story of this one being called on and reluctantly going into battle is just super epic.
Also notable that the most likeable Word Bearer was Argel Tal who was one of the few chaos corrupted Word Bearers with an actual heart.
He also planned to abandon his legion.
An interesting thing to note is that DoW: Dark Crusade heavily hints that the Blood Ravens come from word bearer gene stock. If this theory has weight it adds a counter option to the magpies being thousand sons loyalists. The most likely way this works is that high lords or the generights in the mechanicus used banked word bearer gene stock deliberately or accidentally in their founding. The main reasons some may latch to this theory is the level to which the imperial cult is present in the BR despite many astartes chapters holding to the imperial truth, in addition the WB had a high amount of psykers but without the flesh change of the TS or the hold tzeench has on the remainder of TS seed. Their subsector is also a derivation of Lorgars name being subsector Aurelia or subsector of the Golden One.
The modified TS seed is still the fan favorite theory but the WB seed does have some merit as well.
My second least favourite legion, yet I still love to hear about those that remembered their oaths
Begs the question what’s your first least favorite?
@@magnusmillerwilson space wolves
@@NP3GA A man of culture
@@NP3GA What about them? Literally everything anyone has an issue with them I have found it is due to the memes and them not actually knowing anything about them.
They actually honor guardsmen for one. In two different books Wolves punched planetary governors and generals in the face for saying a single bad thing about the Cadians for the loss of Cadia. They protect the civilians as well (and honestly do a better job of it than Salamanders surprisingly).
They are one of the few gene seeds able to laugh at everything a Grey Knight is capable of. This is due to them being resistant and resilient toward psyker powers. They are also brought up to fight astartes threats...meaning while every other chapter is focused on a xenos or daemons or the like...Wolves actually are trained to deal with other astartes first and everything else second. This being what the Inquisition, Grey Knights, and Red Hunters learned the hard way. The Grey Knights found that they had to out number the Wolves 3 to 1 to have an even chance against them, and the Red Hunters nearly became extinct due to the Months of Shame. The Inquisition is banned from the home systems of the Wolves and their successor chapters.
They are also one of the few that take in aspirants at an older age. The Wolves take those who are past puberty but under 20. They also do not mutilate their Space Marines like most other chapters do. The testes get moved up into the body and the rest tend to just get cut off for most other legions. The Wolves and White Scars however do not do that, as both legions continue to have sex after becoming a full on astartes. Most every other legion become ken dolls.
If you just don't like Viking looks, well... sorry your taste is bad mate.
@@Nempo13 I just find them too pretentious and hypocritical for my liking
Ive been in love with the Word Bearers since I got into the setting , so this video really made my day. I’ve always had this idea for a Word Bearers second founding or something that heavily uses Enuncia, to really emphasize the ‘word’ part of the name. Maybe they could be like the Greybeards from Skyrim or something. Anyways, kick-ass video!
Not everyday I see a fellow Word Bearers fan. We truly are the few and I agree. I think the Word Bearers are amazing. I am currently reading through the Word Bearers Omnibus.
The irony that Logar and the Archorite wrote most the scripture that the Imperial Cult uses is just too delicious. It has to really upset Logar knowing it and probably would bother the Emperor as well.
Underrated and not deeply explored, interesting topic. How different things could have been if they hadn't fallen
I wonder if gulliman will ere meet the anchorite in the current setting for in the grimdarkness of this 41st millenium there is only historical theological discussion.
I genuinely respect all the hard work you put in your videos. I APPRECIATE the hustle and the content you put out. Don't ever stop making these, they're fkn awesome dude
Also word bearers' designs go unbelievably hard
Glad to know that Narek's story just sort of vanished and that I didn't somehow miss an end to it, I hope to see him agajn
Anchorite is so cool! He serves his penance in blood and solitude. He is truly a loyal son of the Imperium.
Ur production quality keeps getting better and better!
Gotta say, you are always right about Loyalists from Traitor Legions being some of the most interesting characters. These two alone makes me hope for a Primaris chapter using Word Bearer Geneseed, along with a World Eater chapter, to just be sects of Paladins burning a righteous and bloody path through Chaos to redeem their heritages
Loyalist from Traitor legion are the most awesome Space Marines and Dreadnaughts.
Superb video as always @majorkill.
Could you make a video dedicated to the Navigators, the major houses, their politics, relation to the overall Imperium and factions, etc
My homebrew story for my 40k army is a group of pre heresy SoH and elements of other legions get lost in the warp and find when they finally arrive at their destination 10,000 years have passed and they have no idea why everybody wants them dead, as far as they know they are loyal.
Excellent video as always, I previously suggested in past videos the idea of making a video entirely about the loyalists elements of the Iron Warriors that aren’t the Warsmith Dantioch
When lore makes sense and is good = bad ass as fuck

Been wondering about this for awhile
When Erebus is one of your chapter's 'master' duelists then the title as one of the Most Dangerous Word Bearers falls flatter than a drunk bear in the woods.
Why's that? The dude pretty much singlehandedly started the whole Heresy in all fairness, unless I misunderstood your comment, and you do actually realise how dangerous Erebus is.
Being dangerous because you have a sharp silver tongue and people listen to you, and being dangerous because you're good at fighting are two different things@@AlbertTurek Erebus started the heresy through trickery, lies and stabbing people in the literal back.
Not only that but he's literally called out as a coward by his brothers more than once; likewise in the lore it is said Erebus is one of the Word Bearer legion's master duelists. So if a guy who is called out as a coward by other super soldiers, teleports to run away from honor duels, and more than once, sneaks up and stabs people in the back is one of your chapter's "master" duelists, then you have a very, very low bar.
@@Phamtomdark I get where you're coming from if we're measuring the quality of character/integrity. In a strictly 'duelist' sense he may well not be the best swordsman or something along the rigid concept of weapon fighting and duelling, or if you adhere to anything made up like concepts of honour duels and honourable fights. All those are arbitrary though when fighting to kill/win/survive in any setting really. Let me throw you another example. It's kind of like the bit where Loken and Lucius spar together. Loken wasn't exactly playing 'by the rules' in order to best Lucius in a duel. You could say it was almost dishonourable win, and he didn't really best him in a sword duel at all, and certainly doesn't make Loken the best duelist, which is what Lucius claims to be, but in my book it certainly makes Loken more dangerous than Lucius in that setting. Intelligence/adaptability/strategising can be seen as cowardice by the strict and made up rules of duel and honourable fight at times. But 'real' fights are rarely ever that, and being cunning in war or fight is what gets you a win, and makes you more dangerous than someone who is playing by the rules. Erebus has no rules, no morals, which makes him extremely dangerous, and he deserves the very title of the most dangerous word bearer for sure in this case scenario, if not one of the most dangerous characters in the lore. Whether he deserves the title of the master duelist is no matter, if you think otherwise you'd probably be the one getting stabbed in the back anyway :D.
So I agree with what you're saying, but only in so much that I'm not saying Erebus isn't dangerous, I'm saying that his combative skills are lack luster, and anyone using him as an example should maybe look elsewhere like maybe Loken for example.
@@AlbertTurek
Bringing up Lucius and Loken is a good example; both of them were fighting; Loken demonstrated that there are other aspects of a fight that one should be aware of, like fighting without honor. Which is ironic given what happened to him.
A sucker strike is defined on how it's made on someone who is unaware, who isn't a combatant, and thus isn't a fighting technique in any sense of the word. Violent yes, harmful yes, but so is assassination which is also arguably non-combative in the ideal.
Rhetorical question to make my point; If Erebus were to actually fight Loken, dual or otherwise, who do you think would win? Maybe Erebus because of magic, I'll give him that, but then again Erebus is smart maybe not, that's why it worked out the way it did. He doesn't act like he trusts in his own combat skills against other duelists, not after Kharn at least.
@@Phamtomdark I don't find it rhetorical, it's a good one and I don't have a straight answer for it, especially as they cannot be crammed into a similar timeframe so easily I think. In the fight between Loken and Kharn, Kharn is possessed by 'the path', and also seems to hesitate few times as Loken tries to speak to his senses. So Kharn is not only distracted for a moment but then in a bipolar fashion, fights blindly, and Loken once again uses strategy and fists as opposed to weapons to basically throw Kharn under a big spiky bus in his blind rage.
In the fight of Erebus and Kharn, it is emphasised that no one has seen Kharn fight like this before, so composed, collected, with so much clarity and speed, not even in the battlefield. So it's a tough one to go off of. I feel like this was given as a bit of a reward to a reader, because Erebus is such a d*ck after all, so it would just be too disheartening to not give a reader that win against Erebus, a single embarrassment that just gives you a bit of a breathing space amongst all the bad stuff that happens. I was fully expecting Erebus to utilise his 'sorcery' and 'cheat', and enhance himself to not let that happen, and continue being the ultimate focus of everyone's dislike. Psyker abilities are clearly OP in most scenarios like this.
Ever since I've started reading the books I've kept seeing Erebus as an equivalent of Vilgefortz (if you haven't read Witcher, I very much recommend it, and probably stop reading at this point as I will include SPOILERS), a mage who was essentially impossible to beat in a duel due to his magical abilities and enhancements through study and application of magic. Only a higher vampire matched his speed and fighting ability, but in the attempt even he ended up as a pile of ash (R.I.P. Regis). The only thing that ended up tripping the mage up in the end was his own medicine, a magical item that allowed the witcher to create false apparitions which was just enough of a tiny distraction to get him messed up.
The old word of Cultchess?! That’s cool he as a dreadnought could speak Enuncia as he’s already a tin bucket it couldn’t hurt. Also makes me wonder if the old Gods of Cultchess maybe weren’t Chaos related.
I remember reading a fragment of a book where a Word Bearer and a World Eater were discussing about what they were doing as part of the Chaos Legion and the Word Bearer talks about the disgust he feels around how murderous they are, ending with "we are in the wrong side (...) because both sides are wrong" as he tears.
I know it is almost impossible, but I would really appreciate to read more World Bearers having a crisis of faith (like that T'au general) and having to understand where they are and how they became what they are now.
I won't ask a full redemption of Lorgar or the World Bearers because Games Workshop wouldn't risk that though, from what I understand, there still aren't Chaos World Bearer figures on sale, right?
I’m pretty sure the Anchorite was also responsible for the creation of the Red Scorpions in my head canon as they are most likely Loyalist Word Bearer successors and the reason why they hiding their gene heritage from mechanicus and the inquisition most likely.
Imagine narek and corax teaming up to hunt Lorgar
Hey Major, I think Chaos Warbands would be worth takling about!! I just heard about em from a short, and know next to Nothing about them xP
I love the enuncia, like that dreadnaught was killing dudes by basically saying “get fucked” I’m a really special way 🤣
Interesting video
This is awesome, Majorkill! I’ve only read a few of the HH books and they have Lorgar and the WB as super 2D douches the entire time. It’s nice to hear about some better-rounded characters. What book(s) are these characters from so I can get the full picture/story?
my absolute favourite legion and thats before i watch this video
Eldrad is bloody awesome.
Hey man its been awhile since ive gotten here on time lol
My favourite Loyalist Word Bearer was [REDACTED] who earned the moniker [REDACTED] from fighting in the [REDACTED] Campaign during the Great Crusade along Primarch [REDACTED].
Sadly he would perish in the months following Lorgar's pilgrimage to Cadia, fighting countless hordes of Greenskins on the black sands of [REDACTED] in the [REDACTED] sector. His entire company of Terran-born Marines would be wiped out, their dessicated corpses rotting within their armour under the baking sun of the day and the frigid nights of [REDACTED]
A video of the top ten community made wholesome moments would be great
Hello Majorkill,
Would you kindly make some lore videos on the Imperial Truth, the Imperial Creed, the Ecclesiarchy? Pretty please? Thank you.
There's an argument to be made that the Blood Ravens are actually a Word Bearers successor chapter.
Unlike the Thousand Sons, the Word bearers geneseed is very stable and still produces a very high amount of pyskers, there's also Eliphas hinting they are brothers in Dark Crusade (though Chaos isn't exactly a dependable source).
They are also quite religious for a space marine chapter, often referring to the Emperor as a God.
Some of their sayings were actually found to have originated in Colchis, which is the most damning piece of evidence IMO.
I think an interesting video series might be a thought experiment on if the Primarchs landed on different home worlds.
What if Lorgar landed on Macragge, Guilliman on Fenris, Russ on Nocturne, Mortarian on Inuit and so on.
This would interesting to see how the Nature vs Nurture thing would play out with Primarchs and how things would've played out differently for the whole setting.
Obviously all combinations can't be done in one video, so it can be broken up by planet or by Primarch.
(Feel free to correct me if similar videos have been done)
It's poetic , almost like the path of man where we are corrupted with joy and then later regret our choices and choose the right thing. It takes strength to do such a thing and I hope you brothers are on your right paths
Would love a video about Cassian Dracos and the Disciples of the Flames.
Yo majorkill whats the fastest things/named individuals in the 40k universe and examples of their speed. Youve always said how fast the eldar move, the whitescars and space marines being blurs, and the custodes being faster than them. Maybe itll be an interesting video to make.
Loyalist members of the traitor legions are both awesome and tragic, they stay true to their legions ideals but are tragic because it’s kind of a glimpse at what could have been had that Primarch and legion not fallen. I eprsonally always liked the Lionel heresy because Lorgar stays loyal because he sees the chaos gods for what they are: parasites. It’s just so satisfying to see alternate histories of fictional universes where people made smart choices in satisfying ways. (Erebus burning alive on Lorgar’s standard for eternity helps in that regard too)
Ayo majorkill do a video about each type of 6:53 space marine
One of my favorite space homemade space marines is an iron warrior dreadnaught forcibly recruited after the heresy who managed to withstand the brain washing eventually turning loyalist and being placed in a dreadnaught due to a heroic sacrifice. He would then proceed to modify the living hell out of his dreadnaught frame to a near unrecognizable degree turning it into an absolute death machine even purging the machine spirit through some warp fuckery. He would eventually be recruited as a ultra marine contractor of sorts spending most of his time as a librarian, tech marine, and occasionally being sent into combat to open up a can of woop ass when the going is tough.
yeah that was awesome

Hello Mr Kill, the Hammers of Dorn are a cool successor chapter (black and gold and firepower, whatnot) but there is very little information about them on wikis and such. If there's any more information in the literature, could you expand a bit on this chapter some time, perhaps in an Imperial Fists related video. Would be grand. Thanks

You should make a video about the current Ktan like the Void Dragon (he is the only one I kinda know)

If Rogal Dorn is the Latin Catholic then Lorgar Aurelian is the Greek Orthodox.
And that's why the name of his Legion, the Word Bringers (Word Bearers + Truth Bringers).

Anchorite one of the strangest and coolest characters there is, he's lost his mind but sort of in a good way it's very odd. Well I suppose technically he hasn't lost his mind seeing as the Emperor is a god but you know, the guy hasn't got all the marbles but is still sane enough to communicate and write and isn't trying to murder everything, which is a step up from most insane people in 40k I suppose
The Anchorite seems as though he'd fit in perfectly with the Black Templars.
