Standing up is the best tip I ever got and I can give. It's so important to make up your shot in your mind before going down. It's as you said: You have to feel comfortable with what your doing.

My buddy bought a new house that came with a pool table. We been playing non stop. This is the best piece of advice that I didn’t know I needed. I usually think my shot out pretty well. “It’ll set me up for this, I have to do this to get it in, etc.”
My problem is my angles are slightly off cause I second guess them and over exaggerate them a little. I need tips on that. I also need tips for putting spin on the cue ball.

My number 1 tip for beginners is to play every shot as soft as possible, that way even if you miss (Which you will. A lot.) you'll guard the pocket and have an easy shot next turn. Once you start sinking shots consistently and confidently this doesn't apply.

What also helps a lot is shadow stroking while you stand. I saw it somewhere on the internet from some professional player explaining but it didn't catch my attention until I did it. But I didn't do it on purpose. After I thought to myself "that was nice stroke" it rang to me what I did. Just keep your hand tight and rub the cue over the bridge in the air while you thinking about the next shot. Also when you aim long shots grip your cue little further in the back extending your cue. And when you play over the balls and closer shots grip the cue closer to the other hand. Changing position where you hold the cue and bridge is really great for everything especially draw.
