I really hope, this upcoming game will be an amazing experience for their fans and a great success to their creator.

It's not the original creator sadly... I bet Raynal got more ideas than this... sad when you know he was underpaid and wanted to make the 2 with a new engine but Infogrames CEO decided to shit on him, he wanted to add real time light... he left soon after the first Alone.
When you see his game was the inspiration of ocarina (Shigeru said it himself), RE (heavily, it's litterally a plagiarism, with sam puzzles and levels and technology), FF... etc
This new AITD is a reboot, amalgamating the 1 and the 2... but let what made AITD so great to Resident Evil... 3D object menu, pushing furniture etc. Maybe because they feard the comparaison even tho, it was the precursor.
The game would be 100x better probably, but capcom reversed it, and had more marketing impact and was bigger than infogrames.
AITD is also the first game using interpolation animation.
Sadly Raynal never got the recognition he deserved, unlike Carmack with Doom.
In fact Raynal tried to come back to Horror games after LBA2 and Toy Commander with sega in the 2000's with dreamcast, the game was Agartha, an interesting take with multiple end (you can be bad or good), but Sega failed against sony and the studio was closed.
At least he got recognition by his country with Michel Ancel and Shygeru Myamoto, they were decorated knight in the same day.

why are the new ones so dark? they don't understand the whole vibe of the originals, and what made them unique. it's just a Resident Evil copy now

Aside from the horrible dialogue and voice acting in the first RE1, it's amazing how much better it was than AITD. If people enjoy those games that's fine and all, but the difference is like night and day (no pun intended). The AITD games look like the Money For Nothing 80's music video by the Dire Straits.
The two games weren't that far apart. RE was just better at creating a fitting atmosphere and monsters thst instill fear and dread.
I enjoyed Silent Hill games but honestly they haven't aged well with me. At least the AITD remake seems better than whatever is going on with Konami and their outsourced SH2 remake. So far it just makes all the flaws of the original stick out more. I might get these remakes a year from now or something when they're not $70 each.
