That's not a D-ring you have attached to the float, it's actually called a carabiner and those particular ones aren't very strong or durable and should really only be used to hold your keys. I would strongly recommend getting some spring link snap hooks in either a stainless steel or zinc plated carbon steel. Last a lot long and are much more secure. That overhand loop is okay-ish, but I would use it in a cow hitch set up to keep it in the proper orientation or use a triple fisherman's knot.
Good points made.
Thanks for the video, my father in law was telling me about that setup, and I found you and Now I’m going to make some gigs. Thanks again
Glad I could help!
Also, why is the float so small? Lol
Thanks for your time and effort on this video. I'm going to get one made for this season here in Texas. I flounder several times a month and this beats the pants off what i have been doing for managing a gig, light and a separate stringer. Appreciate your presentation, very well done and concise. Would also like to make the light you have to replace my old LED lights, would you be able to find out which specific LED your brother used on your light and lense? Thanks Ron
Ok i can make a gig lets go.
What part of the coast are you giggling?
Don't ever put a 18650 3.7volt battery in your pocket with anything made of metal. Your welcome.
