Back when music was just music! No manipulation…just pure talent! Tom had it! Great vocalist! Thanks for this wonderful memory! 🎶🎶
He still has it.
I dunno about that - there were a whole lot of "Payola" scandals back in the day - "Pay to play"
That's a wee bit unfair. Few people in musical history have had a voice of Tom's quality. Autotuning can't create a singing voice, but it can even a borderline voice out for some singers to allow us to hear them when we wouldn't get exposed to them any other way.
No autotune, no dancers and fireworks - just standing with a 1960s mic and talent.
Tom Jones is one of the best singers in the world. He has an amazing voice.
Probably one of the best voices of the century
You should hear his voice now…..aged 83….unbelievably powerful!
Tom Jones is a Welsh singer who has one of the smoothest powerful voices around. And he was a showman too, in fact he was a big heart-throb with the ladies. He has so many hits such as "It's Not Unusual", "Delilah", "What's New Pussycat?", "Green, Green Grass Of Home", "She's A Lady", "Help Yourself" etc. He covers a lot of genres. He is still performing & is a coach on "The Voice" UK version. He also had a variety show from 69 - 71 & had some of the biggest music stars at the time.
Hey, Dagmar!! I do love me some Tom Jones. Delilah is a song about murder, but Tom can pull it off.
More into his "SexBomb" rendition? :)
czcams.com/video/RVfkoQLYbro/video.html
Don't forget his 80s and 90s hits, like the covers of Kiss and Burning Down the House, or Sex Bomb.
It is a song about Passion@@rebeccalipps23
@@raiseanative Yeah, so passionate he kills Delilah because he was jealous.
You can't go wrong with Sir Tom Jones.
Still going strong today in his 80's!
You need to listen to Tom Jones - Delilah, she's the one that broke Tom's heart.
No she's not, he married in his teens and was with his wife until her recent death from cancer. He may have
had 'flings' over the years but his wife was his one true love. Watch him perform "I won't crumble" and if it doesn't bring tears to your eyes, you have no heart or soul.
A vocal masterclass awaits.. no auto tune.. prepare to be rocked 💪
And THAT'S why Sir Tom Jones earned the nickname 'The Voice'.
A masterclass.
Another great one by him is "I Who Have Nothing"
That will blow him away even more than this song
Tom Jones is an icon... He still has an amazing voice❤❤
I like "You Can Leave Your Hat On" in addition to many others. He still has a strong voice at the age of 83. He is truly an iconic figure in music history.
"Shape-shifter" Tom Jones on his own TV show sang a melody with Wilson Pickett & a duet with Janis Joplin just name 2 great performances. Dig deep my friend!
That show with Janis is a treasure. She looked soo happy and they had such great chemistry. Sadly she passed not too long after this 😢
@@annettehesselius74LA MATO LAS DROGAS!
check out the video from The Voice where he sings this with the son of the man who wrote this song for Tom. Lonnie Donegan wrote this and Tom sang it with his son, Peter. Sir Tom will be 84 this year and he's still wonderful.
He wrote it for himself, years before TJ was even TJ!!!
Check the facts first, or you look like a dolt!!
@@jamespasifull I'm going by what Tom Jones said to Peter Donegan on The Voice.
@@sandralorenz1796
I'm going by the fact that Lonnie Donegan wrote & recorded it 7 YEARS before he offered it to Tom Jones!!
Tom Jones was a nobody, in South Wales, when Lonnie Donegan recorded his song, so it clearly wasn't written FOR him.
I can only think that Sir Tom had an age-related brain fart, or was just plain old bullshitting, because the facts don't add up!
It's all available on Google, if you care enough about the truth. 😁
@@jamespasifull Yes. Lonnie Donegan released this in 1962. I was just saying the video of Tom performing it with Peter was very interesting. Go attack somebody else.
@@sandralorenz1796 Good answer, Sandra! You don't let yourself be thrown off balance by his snarkiness.
This song just slays me, one of the greatest voices ever, so glad you checked it out. Check out "I Who Have Nothing" next, my favorite.❤
Tom was 27 here. They had been married 11 years by 1967. He and wife got married at 16, stayed married ( 59 years) until her death. Check out Tom and Janis Joplin performance on his variety TV show that he had.
Tom Jones is raw talent. I'm here for it. He does do a wide range of genres across the board. One of the best voices in the business. You will be delighted to go down this rabbit hole, if you will. Never auto tune, never lip syncing.
Very damn few people could ever belt one out like Tom. A great talent.
Ninguna!!
This is my favorite song by Tom Jones but another must listen by him is "I Who Have Nothing" !
Yes! Most definitely!
Thank you - I was trying to remember the name of that song! He definitely should listen to that!
My dad's favourite singer. Beautiful voice.
Tom is from a town a half hour away from me . Tom , when he was a child had TB , leaving him with a weakness in one of his lungs . Hard to believe when you hear his remarkable voice .
Tom , along with the incredible Shirley Bassey , Richard Burton , Anthony Hopkins and the 1970's Wales Rugby squad , are legends here in Wales .
I was about 8 years old when this was recorded. My Mum and Dad loved Tom Jones. If you want something very different from him, he sang Kiss (yes, the Prince song) and it's fabulous! He is still very current today, touring and appearing on tv. I am so excited to see you react to this song. Enjoy the Tom Jones rabbit hole!
This man is still singing at age 83! All this is pure talent, all before auto tune!
He can STILL sing his butt off. What a voice.
Don’t understand how this song wasn’t a top ten! I remember it playing all the time! It’s a classic! Love many of Tom’s songs but my favorite is I Who Have Nothing.
Tom is 83 & still touring. Last year, I saw him judging on a European 'The Voice' show & a young man was singing one of Tom's songs & then he got up & sang with the guy. So cool & unbelievably, the old guy, sounds the same. My favs are 'It's not unusual', 'Delilah' & 'What's new pussycat' which was used in a movie of the same name.
Yes, Uk's The Voice. The young man was Lonny Donegan's son no less.
Check out when he sings I wont crumble on The Voice, he sings it to his wife who passed away. It was beutiful.
Look up Tom Jones “My Yiddishe Momme” with John Farnham from the Australian tv show “Hey Hey It’s Saturday” - you’ll be blown away … my personal fave of Tom is “ She’s A Lady”
Tom Jones had a TV show in the UK (1970's) which each week featured an unmissable duet, as well as Tom bustin' moves and giving Elvis a run for his money.
Look up "Treat Her Right" and steel yourself for high energy rhythm and soul mastery!
Absolutely love that performance!!!!
Tom Jones was the singer and dancer who was like a Crooner and Elvis Presley mixed together who have a very soulful black style vocals and danced like a black men....a lot of soul. He was like the Righteous Brothers the epitome of "Blue-Eyed Soul. "😊😊😊😊Love Love Tom Jones. ❤❤❤❤
Tom has such a lot of emotion and expression in his voice also, it makes the audience hang onto every word. I’ve been listening to him on the radio since I was a child and I’m an old lady now, the first songs of his I remember are Delilah, and Green Green Grass If Home, both emotional ballads, I’m not a big fan of ballads, but Tom knows how to make the songs come to life 😃
If you've ever watched the Fresh Prince, then you know another song by Sir Tom. The song that Carlton always danced to and became famous for was called It's Not Unusual and was one of many HUGE hits this guy had. I was born in 1968, so it's very possible that if Mr. Jones had come through my town at this point in 67, I might've never been born. Mom would've dropped dad and my bros in a heartbeat and all Tom would've had to do was nod at her.
His version of Prince's "Kiss" is Awesome!!❤
Tom Jones has a classic baritone voice....which we don't have that today. Next reaction to Tom Jones would be...."It's Not Usual. "😊😊Great reactions.
Another thing .....here in Wales , Tom's songs ; The Green Green Grass of Home and Delilah are our unofficial National Anthems .
Los felicito a los galeses x ese gran cantante Una Sudamericana
A masterpiece...!!...for ever....
He has sang with every great name you can think of.. incuding a night with Elvis where they just sang Gospel songs to each other in Elvises house
Elvis loved Tom singing The Green Green Grass Of Home, he loved the song.
Look at his duet with Wilson Pickett. Its OUT OF THIS WORLD
Sir Tom Jones is still performing live and on Britain's Got Talent at the wonderful age of 83. Numerous impromptu performances and as good as ever.😅
Stopped by because I don't need too much of an excuse to listen to the one and only Sir Tom Jones and that amazing voice of his! As a child growing up in the 60's/70's, I will never forget Tom being on various variety shows with women literally passing out at just the site of him. He would take their scarves to wipe the sweat off his brow; and they would just drop to the floor with that scarf.
You should do his version of, "Mamma Told me not to come", with Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics. Shows the versatility of his voice and a great song to boot.
Tom Jones has a broad range of styles. A sampling that would show you just how versatile he is...
From his TV show, I think you'd love these videos of some of his other performances:
- a duet with Janis Joplin on the song Raise Your Hand
- a duet with Stevie Wonder performing a medley of both of their hit songs
- another powerful song, I Who Have Nothing
- watch the women go wild over his performance of Treat Her Right
Also check out his cover (be sure to watch the official video) of the Prince song, Kiss.
Thanks for the reaction to Tom. I hope you get a chance to check out other performances suggested.
Surprisingly this live version is so much superior to the recorded version. Tom Jones has such control over his voice and it's so powerful. One of my favorites!!
Exactly, I wish I could find THIS version (from The Dusty Springfield Show) in some audio format. If you know, please share.
A Rabbit Hole awaits, Salvo - one of the very best! You MUST check out him live on the Ed Sullivan show (Delilah), plus more recently (within the last 5 years) on The Voice UK (try "You can leave your hat on" 2020). Oh, and don't miss seeing him sing with Janis Joplin on his TV show in 1969. Pure ELECTRICITY! They probably wouldn't dare to show it on TV these days!!!
I was lucky to see him 2x in concert...the last was his 70th birthday....Sex Bomb..he was amazing...THE VOICE ❤❤❤❤
Greatest male vocalist of all time in any genre.
Andre Bocelli and Sarah Brightman singing together “Time to say Goodbye “ excellent performance
Tom jones has many styles such as Pop, R &B, Soul. He was known as “Blue Eyed Soul, and a “musical shapeshifter “. He had his own TV show from 1969 to 71, and just about everyone in show biz appeared on it. He also sang the opening song for the James Bond movie “Thunderball”. He is currently a judge on the British version of The Voice. He recently had a number 1 album in Britain. He has won an American Grammy and a British version of a Grammy. He is Welsh, and the son of a coal miner. He contracted TB at 12 years old and spent 2 years in bed recovering. Amazing that he has that voice after that.
Sir Tom Jones has a beautiful voice. I love all his songs.
Such a great artist and what a beautiful voice! ❤
oh, my mom was so madly in love with him, Elvis too. I see why now. What a voice.
The ultimate crooner. What a beautiful perfect voice.....and he was a stone-cold fox!!
He sounds the same today at 83. He has a current song he did for his wife who passed. Check him out on The Voice as a Coach.
His voice is absolutely amazing. In a category of its own, an instrument of its own. To this day, he's a joy to listen to. His voice stops you in your tracks, only admiration for this man and his instrument. What a joy!
He's just as amazing to this day! I'm 81 and I still get goosebumps when I hear him sing. 🥰 Do yourself a favor and watch his other videos from back in the day. The guy had MOVES!! He was married to the same woman for 57 years until she succumed to covid in 2021.
Estuvo casado 59 años La esposa murió de cáncer de pulmón
Tom has never wilted. His robust voice is the same today as it was way back then.
He is an excellent performer. He brought out an album in the 90s called Reload. He dueted with a number of artists - try 'Sex Bomb'.
Apart from that if you try 'Kiss' or perhaps if you want something slower and more classic 'Green, Green Grass of Home'.
He is most famous for 'Delilah'. She's a Lady is another.
No auto-tune back then and he’s still going strong ( in his 80’s ).
He was a huge star already when I was a small kid. He had a variety show. His voice was always so resonant and expressive, great performer, and so suave looking. Total package
All the ladies fell in love with Tom! Beautiful voice! Check out Treat Her Right for a whole different experience!
The most FUN I ever saw Tom Jones have singing was in a duet with the great Dusty Springfield: “Baby, Baby” She is his match vocally, and they rocked this song at 100 mph.
Thìs is one of those goosebumb songs! TJ is a living legend and I had the pleasure to see him in concert in Australia in the 90's. Memorable! Great reaction, subscribed! ❤👋🇦🇺
Tom was a judge on The Voice when the son of the writer of this song appeared and they did a duet of this song together. Amazing.
He appeared as a coach on the UK version of The Voice and in one episode they had Lonnie Donegan's son appear, and he and Tom did a wonderful 'impromptu' version of this song that his father wrote for Tom. It is a wonderful moment and at 80, his voice still sounds incredible and you could see it made Tom very emotional to sing with his friend's son. 😭
Saw Sir Tom Jones in concert, in early 1984. His voice was incredible live - and he's still got it, at 83!
"DELILAH", "GREEN GREEN GRASS OF HOME" and "RAISE YOUR HAND" (duet with Janis Joplin) are but a few of his many, many hits.
I can see by the look on your face he has pulled you in- LOL He was and still is wonderful !!
My favourite song of his is “Green, Green Grass of Home”. He was a hunk with an amazing voice that had us swooning over him.
Finally someone who looks into the details of the song and the artist they are reacting to, thank you and thank you for this reaction, he is an amazing legendary iconic singer. Even now in his 80's he still has that beautiful singing voice.
My husband and I were lucky enough to see Tom Jones at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas 4 times about 13 years ago. His shows were always SO much fun! Women still throwing panties on stage to him. Hilarious. He was around 70 at the time and still had IT.
Had his own television show, like many top singers did …. The ladies loved the man !
And he Still Sounds That Great, pushing 80(or more). Vocal chords don’t stay in shape all by themselves. They need loving care & practice! He was a judge on one of the popular singing competitions within the last decade, and the crowd went wild for him as he’d break out in song on every show. He was sexy as hell and a consummate entertainer, known for the many women in his audience throwing their panties on stage for him! And Don’t Forget - this was the ‘60’s! Ooh la la!
His biggest hits (in the US) were actually his upbeat pop songs, but yeah he was all over the place with styles. His wife of (I think) 60 years passed away recently. Such a life he's had.
In my youth (when dinosaurs ruled the earth) Tom Jones was one of those artists that made me cringe and roll my eyes at the kind of music my parent’s generation loved. Now in my advanced years I realize how wrong I was and how great a singer he really is.
Another reactor (a trained opera singer) said that he uses truly operatic methods of singing in his performance.
I grew up with Tom Jones on the radio and all the mums loved him 😊
I love his voice too. What I love is how he goes up and down those notes like his voice slides on silk 😁
He’s been a coach on the show the voice and at over 80 he still can rock it. You should see him sing on that show with Jennifer Hudson. He’s still amazing.
He's currently a judge on The Voice. He sings occasionally and still sounds great at 80.
He is now Sir Tom Jones. He’s 83 and still has a powerful voice.
There was a special moment on the voice uk when Tom was a judge. Lannie's son came on the show as a contestant and Tom liked his voice and turned his chair. Tom and the other judges were blown away to find out he is Lannies son. Well Tom and his son sang that song together. What a treat that was to watch... Sorry for spelling Lannies name wrong, but you get my drift..
Tom can still belt it! He sang this on the Voice UK, it was terrific.
Tom Jones is the best entertainer of my lifetime. Love him.❤
The fabulous Tom Jones, have you ever reacted to Shirley Bassey. She is from wales as well and has an amazing voice.
Sir Tom is still actively performing and recording in his 80s.
"Green, Green Grass of Home" is another good one to hit.
Sung live. Perfect voice and control. And soooo handsome!
What a beautiful man with an absolutely amazing talent !! Grew up in Las Vegas, and in 1979, i had the opportunity to see Mr. Jones at Ceasars Palace. What a crazy show there were women throwing undies and room keys at the stage it was unreal, and he was amazing.
He's in his eighties now and his voice is still amazing..Elvis Presley said he was the best male singer he'd ever heard! He have lots of ballads but fun songs too..he did its cold outside as a diet and Sexbomb. 😃✌🇬🇧
So much range. CZcams “Tom Jones and…” his blues is my fave. In his 80’s and still performing.
No auto tune in those days, just raw talent. Superb!!
Tom was my late mums favourite singer - hospital radio was a thing when I was born in UK 1974. They took requests - she asked for 'Daughter of Darkness', (I had been born 2 days before 🤣) - which they did not have. So they played 'What's new pussycat'. Both are Tom songs - and maybe not so well known as others.
I grew up in these times of GREAT SONGS and GIFTED SINGERS%!
There are a lot of sides to Tom to appreciate. He has such timing and swag. I love his Ed Sullivan Show performance of "What'cha Gonna Do When Your Baby Leaves You." The dancers around him, of course, are choreographed, but his moves are his own. For some wild dancing and audience interaction, he makes the ladies all excited in "Treat Her Right." And for a moving power ballad, it has to be "I Who Have Nothing."
If you've ever watched the James Bond flick "Thunderball," you should know that Tom did the title song. Fantastic studio track. He also did the Bert Bacharach title song for Woody Allen's movie "What's New, Pussycat" (a quirky song that became another hit for Tom).
He joins up with Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young (CSN&Y) on his TV show to lead spectacularly in their song "Long Time Gone," and duets with Stevie Wonder in a fantastic medley of some of their popular songs. Watching Tom in the many duets he's done with many top artists he invited to guest on his show is a real treat (Aretha, Jerry Lee Lewis, Wilson Pickett, Cher, Little Richard, Janis Joplin, and on and on).
In a European TV appearance a few years later, he delivers an amazing cover of Paul Anka's song "Papa" (even the red velvet 70s outfit and afro can't distract from his sincere and powerful performance.
His vocal prowess, professionalism, artistry, and experience are well-respected in the industry. He collaborated with Van Morrison to record two of Van's songs (check out the session where Van is very pleased with how Tom does his song "Carrying A Torch" with a beautiful backup singer clearly inspiring Tom. You could also check out the video of Tom and John Farnham rocking out together at the Australian ARIA awards show, doing AC/DC's "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Want To Rock And Roll)."
(FYI: John Farnham is another powerhouse. If you don't know of him yet, check out his masterful and very different version of The Beatles "Help," where he's accompanied by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.)
Tom also delivers a fitting cover of "Leonard Cohen's "Tower Of Song." And definitely catch him singing "Cry To Me" with contestant Bethzienna Williams on The Voice UK, and the impromptu "battle" that Jennifer Hudson and he has, singing "It's A Man's, Man's, Man's World" on the show.
Tom will be 84 in June, and there's no stopping him. By the way, his 2021 album shot to No.1 on the UK album charts. Tom's still touring to huge crowds. Still has impressive vocal chops and incredible passion for performing, for his audience, and for all kinds of music. Has a broad, multinational fan base and he's still impressing new listeners today. He impressed you in this 1967 performance. He is sure to continue impressing you with over six decades of song offered, should you decide to explore more of his wonderful talents.
Tom was respected by the soul/r’n’b artists at the time and yes he could get on down with those classic soul sounds, some of the guests on his tv show included Stevie Wonder and Wilson Pickett…so you know what he is really all about. There is a great duet on video of him with Janis Joplin singing “Raise your hand”…..you have to watch that one.
He did a GREAT cover of Prince’s “Kiss”. Great video. 😊
On a very personal note: He was my Mother’s favorite singer, his songs were the backdrop to my childhood. Her absolute favorite was “The Green, Green Grass of Home”. She knew it by heart and would just belt it out along with him. 😊 Should you ever react to it, I would consider it a personal favor and I will be belting along!😊
Sir Tom Jones one of the most Incredible Voices of our time !
Your reaction made me smile. For you to discover Tom Jones and Elvis brings happiness to my heart because this is the music I grew up with. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
The man's in his 80's now and he's still got it 🥰
Tom had his own variety show back then and he once had Janis Joplin on and they sang a song called "Raise Your Hand" I highly recommend it!!
Hi SalvoG love your reactions.
It's really worthwhile to see Tom Jones singing with Wilson Pickett on his TV show. They are brilliant together! Both great singers having a fun time!
My Welsh roots tingled when I saw you reacting to such a skilled and enjoyable Welsh musical legend! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Saw Tom last year in Cardiff castle ,and this year will see him in Chepstow ,he is amazing still sounds fantastic love him c😍🥰
i glad you hit on tom jones as his voice is powerful voice and this song is my ultimate tune from him, i seen tom jones live so many times as my mum is big fan of him. finally he done this song live and i was blown away by it. no one can do this song like the master of tom jones
