  • A Heartfelt Journey Through Italy, Switzerland and Germany
    An opportunity of a lifetime!
#theTorres Europe 2024 Family Travel Highlights
Though some of our planned itinerary were scrapped and we need to improvised and adjust. Overall it was a great experience specially to our kids, definitely a treasure.
First stop, Italy. Since it was holy week, this is special to us. Rome, Vatican, it was a simple pleasures strolling around through narrow cobblestone streets (as virtue of no choice - long story short 3 times we changed apartments, a lost of time for almost 2 days travel. I think we were scammed for double booking :D). The energy we felt attending Easter Mass lead by Pope Francis was amazingly incredible. We say Jesus really touched us physically. It left us awe-inspired spiritually and as a family. The Colosseum, a majestic relic, made me think of Gladiators and of course I wonder if we could have gotten inside (can't take so much waiting line) and have a look for Godzilla sleeping. :D
Ah and there's Milan. Marveled at the Gothic architecture of its stunning Cathedral. Indulged ourselves to "reading" luxury and elegant brands while walking around this stunning metropolis. A special friend back home gave us a little tour guide from Cathedral to Castle.
Next stop was Switzerland, a land of breathtaking natural beauty. The Swiss Alps, the snow-capped peaks and crystal-clear lakes, took our breath away. Specially with our kids, having so much fun. Even though they were shocked from how cold the snow was - it was still fun :D. A family friend welcomed us to their home and we experienced (home cooked meal) one of the best meal we ever had - an authentic Swiss meal, oh the beef something-something (the best). We were mostly in Zurich, we were hoping to hop into Bern, but with the 3 kids (too ambitious), it was such hard work x10 is needed. Hey another reason to be back ;).
Germany! Our final stop. Augsburg, chose this place because of the wonderful people we met back then. And was looking forward to meet them again. It was just unfortunate, we couldn't find a perfect time and place for a catch up. All was good. It was also planned to go to Neuschwanstein Castle, but also need to hold it back ( on the brighter side - a reason to come back :D). It was still a fun moment walking/touring around this small and beautiful city. We stayed at Dom Hotel, where every morning always looking forward for the authentic Bavarian breakfast. Specially their free beer.
This journey, was more than just a vacation. Each country offered a unique treasures, from the historical richness of Italy to the natural splendor of Switzerland and the cultural diversity of Germany (not to mention the beers). Surely it is a transformative experience that left us with enduring imprint to our lives.
    Cheers!
