Yes theres ppl that flop but theres also actual injuries even death. Also basketball has the same thing it may not be as bad but ppl do take dives to draw fouls. Soccer unlike other team sports only gets 3 subs per game so most players have to play the full 90+ mins 120+ min if it goes into over time. Unlike sports such as hockey & basketball that they keep switching players in & out or football that has a team for defense & offense plus a special team's 1 for defense & offense plus they get a few seconds of break in between plays & minutes in between quarters & halftime. In MMA theres a few times ppl have faked being hit with illegal strikes such as getting kneed while down. Finally unlike football these guys aren't wearing pads or a helmet.
Unlike American footbal, this isn't the full contact sport, so pads seem to be unnecessary. There are instances when footballers play offense, defense and special teams. Soccer seems to have the luxury of confrontations with referees that afford players times of rest, so it isn't a continous movement from the first second to the very last second. Pads don't offer 100% coverage of body, a bloody nose in soccer warrants a 45 second roll on the ground and a possible stretcher on the field to haul off a player.
