      @@stevemyhill5785 the goal umpire didn't call a behind. He signified that the ball had crossed the line. Why do you think the field umpire has to say "all clear"? So after the goal umpire makes the "mine" call the field umpire gives the all clear for a score to be recorded. The field umpire did not give the all clear because he was making the deliberate decision. At no point was a behind signalled.

      Nowadays this kind of crappy call is pretty usual, but you have to remember that back in 2012 or 2013, paying deliberate was extremely rare and this kind of call would make the lowlights, now it is considered normal for something like this to be called deliberate.

      @Samuel Hynes ??? That’s only if it was rushed through, it was called deliberate out of bounds because he clearly had prior opportunity to dispose of the ball and his intent was clearly not to keep the ball in play. Doesn’t matter if it’s in the goal square. His intent was to draw the player and cause a restart from the behind so they had possession, no way that would be allowed.

      @TomoGoody Před 3 lety +3

      @ben10521 Před 3 lety +13

      @@TomoGoody jesus man you can't be calling other peoples comments dumb whe you're blatantly wrong hahaha deliberate out of bounds and rushed behinds are completely seperate from each other and how you can argue anything other than a behind as the correct result for this instance shows you either haven't watched a game for 2-3 years or you're just not someone that should comment on anything footy related

    • @TomoGoody
      @TomoGoody Před 3 lety +1

      @@ben10521 Looking at this from a out of bounds perspective, he had ample time to dispose of the ball and the player that eventually rushed him behind goals wasn't even following him at first and didn't tackle, something that is being called to this day (See link to example below), the only reason why it would be called pressure would be if he just happened to be within 9 meters which by the time he picked the ball up which he was not. Either way, made no attempt to keep the ball in play and had time to dispose, will be called deliberate everyday of the week if an umpire is actually paying attention.
      Looking at this from a rushed behind perspective, once more the forward was not pressuring him at first and was sheppard away, so there was no pressure on the defender as he came into possession, meaning he has deliberately allowed the play to stop by letting himself be pushed through.
      It was the right call by the umpire and clearly still holds to this day with how the rules define pressure, deliberates and failing to dispose. Just because you say I'm wrong, doesn't make it true and maybe instead of trying to critique how long I've been watching AFL, you should be using facts and knowledge of the rules to disprove my claims.
      (Example of fairly new calls similar to this situation: www.afl.com.au/video/464865/was-this-rushed-behind-deliberate-?videoId=464865&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1594533497001)

      @@TomoGoody alright man that one incorrect call was just an example of the only umpire to pay attention since the rules were changed lol clearly that was the incorrect call backed up by the 100's-1000's of examples of those exact same instances being deemed a fair rushed behind since then. You're looking way too deep in to how pressure is defined, watch literally 1 game of footy this year and you would see a player just has to be in the vicinity for it to be deemed pressure. And me saying you're wrong doesn't mean i'm right but given the example case you brought up is literally the only call of that nature in the last 2 years basically disproves any legitimacy it has as being the correct call, pretty sure that the 99.9% of calls that would have seen that be a rushed behind were actually the right call and it didn't happen to be that on one occasion the umpires were 'actually paying attention'
