    Note: The products listed above are what I use and/or what I recommend for a beginner. As you progress with your embroidery work you will likely wish to purchase additional stabilizers, better quality threads and other accessories. I recommend starting with the basics and growing your collection as needed. I also recommend starting with scrap fabric and getting to know your machine before attempting a full project.

    I am BRAND NEW to machine embroidery and this is a great video to actual see how to appliqué. Before I say this I always figured it would be so hard to do. Maybe I'll make some personalized beach towels for my SoCal relatives!

    Putting heat and bond lite on the fabric really helps in fraying of fabric and a beautiful finish when it’s done. I love doing the appliqué fonts too

      I have used hnb too but i didn’t want this to get Too stiff feeling since it’s a towel for my grandkids.

    • @kathleencrumbaugh8050
      @kathleencrumbaugh8050 Před 4 lety +1

      Lorrie Nunemaker if you only use lite it doesn’t get that feel. I use it on all T-shirts, onesies etc. but the regular hnb does get stiff for sure.

    So helpful! Does this work on very thick towels? The one you demonstrated on seemed a little thin, and the Walmart or Target I shop at doesn’t carry thinner beach towels. Want to make for my grandchildren. Thanks so much for such clear. Instructions.

    Please be careful using pins and that they are out of reach of you needle. They can really do some damage. Blue painters tape works great and you can use it more the once. Scotch tape works too. I hope this is helpful.

    Thanks for walking us through this, just got a Janome from Costco. Have no idea about embroidery or applique work. The owners manuel have no instructions on any of these. Do you think you can do more videos using the Janome? And where does one get some of these designs?

    Lori, have you ever done it with whoopi g the towel instead of laying it on top of the hoop. I have only seen it done with everything hooped so this was a new method for me.

    • @LorrieNunemaker
      @LorrieNunemaker  Před 4 lety

      Depending on the towel, yes. If it’s a thicker towel I find it hard to hoop. This is not a thick towel and could he hooped but I prefer this method of floating. I really don’t hoop much at all if I can get away from it
