I’m 65 years old and I grew up listening to what is now known as classic rock. I’ve been listening to music since the mid to late 60s. I don’t think a band has “hit” me like Nightwish has. Every time I hear something new (new to me) from them I am blown away. Every time I listen to Nightwish songs I have heard before I hear something new that I missed previously. I love this band. Thanks for the reactions.
Exactly as me 62-year old bloke here in Finland. I've been "aware" of NW ever since -96 when they started and listened Nemo from radio while driving etc.
BUT, their music really hit me about 5 y ago and I'm really loving them at the moment!

If you watch this back to back with the earlier Wacken version 5 years before, you can see how much Floors approach has changed to this song, the first hit single and the most played (by a large margin) of all their songs.

Floor was interviewed recently about the "soundtrack of her life". Here are some extracts:
"The guitar hero
I play in a band with him: that’s Emppu [Vuorinen, Nightwish guitarist]. He is an amazing guitar player, but he doesn’t need to fill every gap in the song with meaningless notes. He really keeps the atmosphere [of the songs]. What he plays in Sleeping Sun is beautiful.
The singer
She falls completely out of the spectrum of rock and metal, but if there’s one singer that endlessly amazes me with her sound it’s Celine Dion. I find her music absolutely cheese-bombs, but that’s too bad, because I love her voice. You can feel what she’s singing.
The songwriter
Tuomas [Holopainen, Nightwish]. I don’t know anybody who can write like him. He has been writing music for twenty-five years, had three different singers in his band, and still Nightwish is one of the biggest bands out there. That says something about how good the songs are. I have a special love for Ghost Love Score which is a super-weird song, it’s ten minutes long, but for some reason, it speaks to so many people."
I agree and the Wacken 2013 version is my favorite because you see Jukka showing off a little, He's a true performer back there behind his kit.

@@user-wo8xl2cp4l Nemo in fact, always strikes me as the part of that show where Jukka is at his most flamboyant - or at least where the cameras catch hom most.
I mean he does play around even in GLS but Nemo is very obvious.

Ever noticed how little reverb Floor and Marco use in their live performances? Rare amongst performers these days. They pull it off beautifully.
At times, it's a disservice to Floor's voice. Underproducing her vocals makes her sound like a regular singer, so it's basically "the usual" outcome even though she's a much better singer than most vocalists.

You are 100% right about the "emotional connection". I've been listening to music my whole life, I'm a big fan of many musicians and bands, but man, Floor Jansen and Nightwish are on a completely different level, I can't even explain why. It just happens.
Eric, thank you ones again! As you like Emppu's guitar, you truly should check Nightwish's 'Dead gardens'. That showcases Emppu's heavier guitar and Tarja's voice. That ending is epic!
Amazing to me that people who like the heavy side of Nightwish like Master Passion Greed, never seem to mention Dead Gardens. I've requested people do it before but to no avail. Perhaps because there are no live performances (as far as I know) but that applies to MPG too.

Amazing is that there is a shot from behind the audience where you can see ALL people raising their arms on Floor's "hey, hey"😮as mostly only the first 10 or 20 rows are doing that.
And Wacken 2018 is a bit underrated, maybe because the sound is a bit "festival" quality, but her voice...😍

Very well said how people are spending their lives with the band. That's exactly how it is.
"I Wish I Had An Angel", "Ever Dream", "Amaranth", and finally "Nemo" are the Nightwish songs that were frequently played on radio back in the day.

Eric.....it's nice to see you back!!!! I have been in and out of the hospital, falling because of my injured lumbar vertebrae. My legs just stop working from time to time. The last time I hit my head on the bathroom door, solid wood, and cracked the bottom half of the door! Grade three concussion, more pain meds....including Oxycontin. It actually caused me to hallucinate.... I was seeing my 2 show dogs ( Bichons Frises ) playing together in the livingroom! The female passed in 2014 and the other one passed in 2016...it totally freaked me out! So...my wife took the medication and I still had effects of the medication for several days!
I am okay now....but my lower back is still the same...injured and causing me to have to be very careful !!!
But...this song "Nemo" is one of my favorite songs. FYI....Nemo translated from Latin means, A Nobody. If you listen closely Tuomas , I think, is closely linking Dead Boys Poem and Nemo....that feeling that nobody understood him. It's a brilliant link...which also shows up in Song of Myself. The more I read the lyrics of Thomas's music....the more I see how brilliant he is!

This was the first time she walked on stage in that outfit she had been give hints of. This concert was also streamed live. One of my favorites back then, and still is on every concert I've been to.

Great to have you back!! The only thing about this version I don’t like is Floor singing those notes at the end. I just like the large sound of the symphonic, with nothing else added in. But she’s adapted it to her style and there’s nothing wrong with that. 😊

And i got a perfect reaction to end my day of listening music. Now that it is 2am here in Finland i can go to bed with smile on my mouth.
I think this is 1 of the best Floor era Nemo's you did. 2013 was little different, but have to say. With Tarja this song was at it's best. It just is so. There was something in her, eventho Floor delivers much more clearly vocals that Tarja had so much operatic tone that you didn't quite hear words she sang sometimes.

(And if somebody doesn't know who Amaury Guichon is, just watch any of his videos.The guy does incredible magic with desserts. So maybe he's the Tuomas of pâtisserie?)

Troy's Irish Low Whistle is an addition to the song, as it is from the 2004 Once album, and he didn't start with Nightwish until 2007. One of my favorites in Tarja's voice, but love Floor's version too. You probably already know that Nemo is Latin for no one or nobody.
Hi Eric, nice to see you have listened so much Nightwish, but one is missing , The Greatist Show on Earth, I think best is live in Tampere 2015 , it`s bit longer but worth to react.
Another great song from Evergrey is Eternal Nocturnal with great dual guitars. I love their tone and their sound, with a great dark low rumble underneath with bright guitars and keyboards layered on top.
A song that will always be on the set list. Hopefully Sleeping Suns is on the list and hopefully you check out more Ayreon.

This song is legendary on its own right , and this song was my first Nightwish song that I heard back in 2004 .
Also this song can be heard in the ending credits of the 2005 movie "The Cave".
Tuomas Holopainen has stated that the title is Latin for "nobody" or "no name" and the song is based on his occasional feelings of being lost, longing for the past and feeling nameless.
AND ,....in 2022 Floor added 15 sec Belt note at the end of this song. Always great to see you react to Nightwish 🖤 This version is not very often reacted to as most people will react to the 2013 version, but it's nice to hear the subtle differences. I always love how you break down what happens, it truly shows how much you know about music. Luckily they have a vast catalogue and I know you did a lot already, but I still can name other great songs for future NW reactions 😂🤘🏼

Hey something to watch in your down time if you haven't already watched it is the making of Endless Forms Most Beautiful, It's a sort of a documentary of how that album came to be made and it's a good watch just to see them as normal everyday people who happen to be rock stars it also shows what happened to Jukka and how Kai came to help out and eventually took over full time, the part with Jukka talking about his decision to step down is heartbreaking to watch but He's doing amazing now and still with them and also still a member of the band just behind the scenes now. The section following Floor moving to Finland and going to the store to get supplies for the band after they arrived to summer camp to practice songs for the album while she was still trying to learn Finnish is pretty funny, you really get to see them in normal life being the second family for ech other that they are. I've never seen any other band that is as bonded to each other as they are to each other, it's literally like watching a home move of five brothers and their sister on a family vacation which only makes you admire them more, Emppu saying that while practicing the "what if thing" always happens, like what if they stopped practicing and started drinking, Emppu is so much like a buddy that never takes anything too serious and just has fun.

I've not seen this version before. I prefer the sound of it to 2013, though I like the visuals from the _Showtime,_ _Storytime_ DVD more. This remains Tarja's song for me, though!

@@ANDZIGCREAM Whoever said that tells their own stories. They tried to make it work for a really long time and it changed a lot along the way. For example, Jukka didn't see any special potential in Nemo at the beginning of the rehearsing&recording phase. When they finally took the "Romanticide metal rap part" out of it, it came alive.

Another reactor has played nearly every version of Nemo he could find because he just loves that song. Me, I like the Wacken 2013 version better. That said, the worst Nightwish version I ever heard was wonderful

Hey, thought I'd mention that I'm having something made for you that you'll get a kick out of, and one is pretty funny and everyone who's been here with you for the past few weeks will get it, you'll absolutely get it and laugh.
Tarja's version was very nice. Floor kills it.
You only have 2 songs left from Wacken 2013 you haven't done yet, I Wish I had an Angel which is a banger and Jukka is in prime form and attacking his kit, and She is my Sin, where Jukka shows a little more skill and precision. Another of my favorites is Last ride of the day Jukkas last show that's nice to see they did a video honoring him.
This is a nice vision but this one where I prefer Tarja voice. Maybe just because I first herd it with her as this was one of the first few song that I discovered this bad and and Tarja's voice takes me back to that time and place. I'm not sure. There are a few songs that I'd just rather listen to one singer over the the other. Over the hill's and Phantom of the opera both covers I know but I prefer Tarja's version. In a lifetime of Nightwish, Nemo is one of my least favorite songs. I didn't like it when it first came out, and I still think it's super dull compared to most of their catalogue.
