    /* ---- VIDEO INFORMATION ---- */
    Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul aka the guy who gets away with Mordor and this video we're breaking down Rings Of Power Episode 3. After everyone loved our last breakdown...loved it...I thought we'd dive back into the show for everyone who's still watching to bring you everything you need to know about the characters, callbacks and our thoughts on the entry.
    I'm gonna give a spoiler warner for some stuff in the series but there'll be no future twists or turns revealed. However if a character pops up in the main Lord Of The Rings films series then I think that they're fair game to talk about so check out now if you don't want those connections confirmed. This is mainly referring to Elendil and Isildur who we already see what happens to in the Fellowship of the rings. Super long disclaimer but yeah just gotta preface the video with that before we dive into it all.
    With that out the way, thanks for clicking this, now let's get into The Rings Of Power episode 3.
    -
    Now this episode is called Adar which is the name of a corrupted Elvish warlord who has been described as being one of the main antagonists of this series. He pops up at the end of the entry and he's played by another Game Of Thrones alumni in Joseph Mawle. So so far we've got Young Ned Stark, Uncle Ben...not that one...and Old Ned Stark all being tied to Lord Of The Rings stuff. My brain is f**king f**ked from the lore of these two series and at this point I feel like they've replaced the memories of my family...even my beloved uncle...uncle DaemonI think his name was. What.
    Now Both episode 1 and 2 were kind of absent of villains other than the ones we saw briefly like Sauron. Adar is a completely new character for the show and a corrupted elf is an interesting way to take things that we haven't seen before.
    The entry opens with an orc saying for Adar and this is brought full circle by his introduction at the end.
    Elves are usually on the side of good but there are some that end up committing bad acts which has been seen in a number of characters. Feanor ended attacking elves in an event known as the Kinslaying which might have been teased at last week. Now that took place in the Silmarillion and as many of you pointed out on our last video Amazon doesn't actually own the rights to that.

    Anarion is mentioned in the episode. He will appear in the series 100% as he is a very important character along side Isildur. He founded Minas Anor (later Minas Tirit) while Isildur founded Minas Ithil - later overtaken by the Witch King and becoming Minas Morgul. Both brothers formed the Southern kingdom of Gondor, while their father formed the Northern kingdom of Arnor.

      It was extremely obvious, I mean the show is about as surprising as Buffy The Vampire slayer. It's made by shallow Californians that grew up on the very same stuff.
      Now just imagine thinking you are doing a great service by being so brand sensitive that something as mediocre as this is comparative to Tolkien....
      It's yet another franchise burned to the ground by cooperations and people are celebrating it.
      Disturbing. If we humans don't wipe ourself out we will look back into history where signs like this was a part of a decline in intelligence. Of course we have established through studies that our IQ is decreasing and it's going fast but still. Nobody was stopping and thinking about that though? They just swallowed the brand and worshipped the brand and celebrated the brand and was simply to... simple to grasp the thought required to not be easy to please.
      Now the big question is why is it of such importance to NOT delve into that and just celebrate it? Is it merely the fact that it's beyond your horizon?

    As a huge fan of Tolkien's works, I appreciate this show. The movies took creative liberties while respecting the lore as well. While this show is taking more creative liberties, it's still respecting large swaths of the lore. Quite honestly, for casual fans who haven't read or learned of the events in the first/second age, this is a good thing. It will get people into Tolkien's work, just like the movies did. And as for people crapping on the show because it takes liberties, well, the movies did too, as do most movie and show adaptations of written works. And considering Amazon doesn't have the rights to use material from the Silmarillion, they've done a great job working around that.

    I think the Stranger is Gandalf and they're on a separate plot from everyone else to found the Shire. Doesn't quite make sense for other major characters like Sauron since he could barely figure out what the Shire was when he sent the Ringwraiths there to find Bilbo and the Ring. Saruman doesn't seem humble enough to be a kind person even with memory loss. The fireflies are pointed out by Nori to perhaps be an accident, he was desperate to communicate what he needed and talked to them gently in his hand, a more dangerous being could just force magic them into position, well the wizards might need staves to do it but they do force pull stuff from time to time, Gandalf did it with Gimli's ax when he came back, and tried to use a shutting spell on the door as the Balrog approached them.
    As for pissing people off with timelines, I think that was always going to happen because of how much time actually takes place in the actual stories. The time between Bilbo and Frodo leaving is years, not weeks or even months. And screwing with characters... Merry and Pippin did not accidentally help Frodo and Sam flee the Shire, they planned it out carefully, with Sam, and Farmer Maggot helped them when he found them crossing his fields by accident. If you're an actual by the book nerd, the first trilogy of movies was already breaking all kinds of lore and characterizations, especially making Aragorn a "reluctant" king, that's a big NO. He was basically waving Anduril around like a big golden dick and commanding men to hurry up and help him with his mission, to which they all looked at him in literal wonder and said yes my love, I mean my lord!

      Disagree with that scene about Galadriel. So far we haven't seen Adult Galadriel actually enjoying LIFE - as she is a seeker of death, constantly sulking around about her mission/quest.
      It showed that for all of that, Galandriel when faced with living without worrying about anything else, and enjoying herself - is capable of actually being happy.
      Think it was important for the viewers to see that side of her, even if for a brief moment ( which is all she allows herself with ).

      I like the show but Galadriel is annoying AF. She obsesses for a millennia over her brother’s death and she just figures out it’s a map because of the dudes in that library or whatever it was. She’s just insufferable. They messed up her character. But there are other characters and storylines which I like. I just get bored when it comes back to her. I do feel sorry for the actress. I’m sure she’s talented but this part sucks.

    • @Lctl10
      @Lctl10 Před rokem +1

      @@nottellingyou14 They've showed multiple times that for Elves, they do not perceive the passage of time like others.
      For Galadriel, it's as if it happened "yesterday" - it's her entire and only reason to be alive at this point.
      She is fueled by that obsession and anger - which is exactly why the King says she had to go, or her evil would end up corrupting her entirely and others around her.
      The Sigil being part of the map was explained. She wasn't the only one that never made the connection to the southlands - it's part of the narration at the start, when she embarks on her journey.
      If it wasn't for a specific find - that knowledge would remain hidden. Is it a mcguffin type of item ? Sure - but it's not related to the character itself, just the plot.
      Personally, if someone had killed a member of my family that meant the world to me, and I had the strength and TIME to hunt it/them down - I would.
      Her journey will most likely end up being about her letting go, and choosing to embrace life, instead of death - which will bring her in line to the Galadriel we know from LOTR timeline.

You can be likeable by acting as a friend like the hobbits do but I believe acting with wisdom and showing understanding of the thoughts of others is another way of being likeable, characteristics often portrayed by Elves. :)

      If this "Adar" turns out to be the human embodiment of Sauron - and ends up being captured by Numenor, we may get a sped-up version of the "Fall of Numenor". The trailers indicate Numenor under attack (boat exploding in the docks, Isildur looking on in horror etc). Is it faithful? Not at all. Will be it good? I am positive it will be.

    The journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.

    I feel like I've said this 50 times in the past couple weeks, but I'm going to keep saying it: IT IS OK TO LIKE THIS SERIES. IT IS OK TO NOT LIKE THIS SERIES. It's called a difference of opinion and liking/disliking this show doesn't make you a "true fan" or whatever other bullshit I've seen said.
    If you do NOT like this show, I'm going to give you a very simple trick that'll make your life much easier: turn off your tv and don't watch it. Let the people who do like it, enjoy it. Why do you want to destroy something they're enjoying when it has no effect on you? Here's another hint: it's way more fun liking something than disliking something. So instead of spending so much time and energy on something you clearly hate, watch the original movies or reread the books you love. Go back to enjoying things. You'll be a less miserable person for it.
    If you DO like this show. Just ignore the people screaming about it and keep watching with a smile on your face.
    It's ok to disagree about things people. I really appreciate that Heavy Spoilers took time in the video to talk about that.

      ramp up into what? they have stated 5 seasons, and each season is presumed to be 8 episodes, this story has specific events, the only things that can happen are creation of the rings, creation of barad-dur and war of the elves and sauron, future seasons will most likely have founding of rivendell, numenors fall, numenorians journey to middle earth, nazgul appearances and war of the last alliance, but any of this can and will be stretched over these 5 seasons

Saruman could already be there.
