I've been decluttering for the past months because I'm moving. I like your hair. I'm thinking about cutting my hair to start my "new life" with a new look 😃
defiantly - im burning through a candle every day so I can use it to plant a succulent. selling some things on ebay. your videos inspire me to move this stuff in my home!

What I miss in decluttering videos on CZcams is a full circle decluttering.
You often see the messy before and the tidy after shots and the piles that got decluttered, but the real work begins after the decision was made and usually isn't as glamorous as pulling stuff out of an area and making it look neat. I think it's the part most people get hung up on, that's why I think it is worth showing! Throwing stuff in the trash bin, taking out the trash, cleaning or repairing the thing to pass it on, packing the box for the donation center, loading it in the car, dropping it off, dropping stuff off at a family's or a friend's house or giving them the book back they lent you when they come over, taking pictures of the stuff you want to sell and uploading the items, storing the items in the garage or a closet where they sit and wait to be sold, slowly leaving the house over the next couple of days or weeks one by one.
The real act of decluttering is to actually make stuff leave your home, and that requires a lot more than sorting stuff into piles.
I know you do all of these things Ashlynne, showing them as a part of the decluttering process might help lots of people who don't follow through after they made the piles.
I ordered waterproof zipper mesh bags in a variety of sizes for board games! One big bag to hold the game and a couple of the smaller mesh bags in each for the pieces. It's a lot easier to store 10 mesh bags than 10 boxes!
What a great declutter session! I like how you use reason, even if you like something- it still leaves your home if you’re not using it. That’s what’s hard for me… Sunken cost fallacy. I want to get better and seeing you do it totally helps!

I'm on Spring Break this week. 😁 I am so motivated to organize and declutter more of my things. I got a pair of 3 drawer cabinets for my closet. Makes me so happy ☺️🥰

We organized our favorite games, which we play often, in one of the larger game boxes. So everything is available quickly and it didn't take up so much space.
We've been putting our games into clear plastic totes for quite some time. It's not always for space-savings reasons (although, when there are multiple expansions, it most definitely does save space). Mostly, we do it because it's easier to set them up and put them away. Also, the totes are identical and stack well. We have one small closet with only shelves. On the main shelves are the totes....and the empty boxes are all stacked on the top. (out of the way, but not getting rid of them, in case we decide to declutter a game in the future)

For the games, I think throwing away the plastic containers inside the big box can be a good place to start condensing them. For cards, you can hold them in place with some rubber bands so that they don't get scattered throughout the box and the smaller bits can go into small plastic bags. Great video, btw! 💚

Actually took them out of the box and used ziplock bags for the instructions, pieces/cards! It helped sooo much!

I loved seeing you cleaning and decluttering, you must have so much energy, but the results you got are great. Everything looks so much better now ❤. I have to wait for a couple of months before I can start doing things again. In about 4-5 weeks time the rentingcompany is going to do all kind of constructions in my house for a couple of weeks. This means that I had and have to put all kind of things in my cupboards and because they are also replacing the windows my house will become one big mess 😢. As soon as they are done I can start cleaning and putting stuff were it belongs again and unfortunately I don’t have your energy (because of my severe Crohns disease). But still I’m looking foward to that moment 😅.

Put games with instructions in large plastic bags. Also great idea for puzzles as well. Saves a lot of space❤️
For games with expansions, we take out the plastic divider that is inside the box and are able to fit all of the pieces! We have 3 expansion of Catan all in one box from doing this!
Love your video and your positivity. They sell board game storage bags which dramatically cut down on the storage space needed for these games.

For board games you can sometimes buy organisers that go inside the box which organise things much better than the original insert. Folded Space do some which aren't too expensive although they're still not cheap. That might be worth it if you play them a lot. We tend to be ruthless about taking everything that is in the box out and putting the small pieces into plastic bags and the cards in elastic bands. Most times that means we can then fit the expansion in the box that came with the main game. Then we just recycle or repurpose the expansion boxes. Sometimes you can save little sauce pots and they make great little containers for game pieces and then they can be put directly on the table as you play.
Hi Ashlynne! You are an inspiration! I wish I could get my boyfriend on board when it comes to the amount of stuff we have in our home but for now I focus on me. I'm running out of my stuff to declutter though! Haha🙂
We have a now condensed board game collection. We love board games. I have put expansions into base game boxes in the past and regretted it. If we haven’t played it in a while and come back to it and just want to play the base game, it’s annoying to work out what is base game and what is expansion. But if you think that wouldn’t bother you, you can take the insert out and usually fit expansions in that way. I also like to see all the boxes, so it’s easy to grab the one you want, Plus some of the boxes have beautiful artwork. Just somethings to think about. Things like fishing tackle boxes, bead, jewellery organisers can be good for organising in the box or the whole game just make sure it’s one with adjustable compartments.
I've recently felt overwhelmed by my plants, too...I got rid of a couple this week and now need to get rid of a couple more.
For the board games. A good storage hack is to decant them just like certain pantry items. Get clear lidded bins. And move all the pieces for the same game into that bin. Pop a lid on it and stack away!

They sell the replacement glass for frames at Hobby Lobby (I am sure other crafty stores have them) or amazon may have them.
My husband and I also found that games have a lot of extra packaging so we 3D printed smaller containers to hold all of the different parts. The one that is my favorite is code names since it is a drastic difference between the original packaging and the 3D printed version! #engineeringgames
The towels you could donate to a local animal shelter or rescue. I know shelters by where I used to live would always take old towels or sheets for bedding 😊
You can get glass cut for a frame. I'd check places like hobby lobby first. My in laws used to run a store with frames and would do that all the time.

When you have a lot to declutter and a random assortment of things, how do you decide on what to sell and what to donate?
There's mesh bags on Amazon I've seen people put their game pieces in and labeled

Sometimes if we have an expansion game that we’d rather just store in the original game’s box (because we always play them together anyway) we can remove some of the bulky plastic packaging in the box that holds cards, etc and just wrap a rubber band around the cards instead. You can also store loose pieces in those tiny plastic bag. The combo of all of that leaves you with cards and pieces sitting in the bottom of the box, but they’re all still contained well enough with rubber bands and bags. Hope that helps!
I've seen a couple of ideas for storage of board games. 1 is a cubic bin or storage box that goes on a shelf. The other is a filing cabinet which has a spare drawer or a clear plastic sleeve so you can store them without the box. I think it was Natalie Bennett channel and Alison mcphail channel

Use zip lock bags to store different games and simply paste the name/ picture on the bag.

This is kind of an old hack, but perhaps you can find different clear pouches and store all the little parts that come inside the game boxes, and then tape to the bag the instructions of the game! It really helps consolidate them all without the extra packaging 😊
Girl, don’t be too hard on yourself. You are never messy nor do you have too much clutter. You should see my former friends room, she’s a maximalist and it’s a mess so you’re good to go and I just simply enjoy you, your videos and your voice and personality.
@Ashlynne Eaton several of my friends have condensed their games by placing game pieces and instructions into resealable bags (reusable Ziploc style bags) then recycling the boxes. It seems to take up less space while keeping all of the pieces and important information together. Good luck finding the right method for your games!

Hi Ashlynne! Love your short hair! I think it suits more your face shape however i think it would be better to trim it more to be a little shorter than what it is now.
Put a sticky not in the front of those borrowed books with the name of the personit belongs to. Maybe that will help keep them straight for you.

I think this is hugely unnecessary and would opt for a arm chair or love seat that rolls out into a bed. I doubt that this guest bed is getting used every other day which makes it an unnecessary waste of space. Just my thought. I’ll finish the vi to see what’s been done about this

Just get a large enough ziplock or bag to store the board games in, you don’t really need the whole box for storage, just the game instructions…
