    Hey Kyle... i agree that being proactive and preventive is the way to keep your cars much longer... would you say the 2008 93 aero xwd or TurboX need the same kind of attention... i have the oil pressure sensor issue atm... thinking of starting with that replacement and if it keeps dinging then attack the pan etc... what do you think? 😎🙌💖

    • @KylePancis
      @KylePancis  Před 4 lety

      I think try the sensor and also try and do a hard tap on an oil line to make sure pressure is good. If not, definitely pull the pan!

    Hi Kyle, always watched your Vids with great interest. Driving a 2003 9-5 Aero estate with now over 400.000 km (second new engine at 240.000 km). One common problem every owner of the B235 engine has is a missfire problem (P1300) which is hard to detect. Would be nice and helpful for the Saab Community if you can make a vid which shows how to find a way to solve the problem. Thanks and greetings from Germany. (subscribed) ☺

    • @Julio44795
      @Julio44795 Před 2 lety +1

      Knudsburg, in other vedeo they explained that missfire dificult to detect are due to bad valve calibration, posibly exhaust valves are too tight.

      @@Julio44795 Thanks, do you have a link to the vid? Could it be a problem with the timing chain?

    Well explained Mr Kyle🙂
    Speaking as a pro tech mechanic it is so fantastic that you can i few minutes explain both the weak points... And why you should change the Oil and filter... Even before interval schedule... The weak points... Yeah... Every brand has them... But get too know your car is crucial.. Thanks too Mr Kyle.. A true gentlemen that keep us saving our Saab cars.. Sincerly greetings former Saab mechanic and still in love with these cars... PS... Love american cars too... There is something cool about you over there.. Greetings car enthusiast from little Norway... Keep on your great work.. 🙂🥰

    Man, where were you 2 years ago when I bought my viggen!? I think I saw all of these signs right before I blew my engine 🤦🏾‍♂️. I didn't part it though, I have another engine I'm going to rebuild and swap into it. I'll be sure to check out your other vids along the way.

    This is way late here, but I see some of your vids right when I need to see them. My mechanic replaced the valve cover gasket a few months ago, but as I was having other major work done then (steering rack, A/C), I didn't pay attention to this. It seemed a minor thing then, that is until this past week when I noticed oil seepage and leaks underneath. The coolant level's fine, no other signs of problems, but at the risk of an engine fire (ugh!), I stopped driving it altogether until I can have it towed to the garage. My mechanic's concerned and surprised as well, but maybe the PCV valve or other seals (on this aging beauty) need replacing? Thanks to these vids, though, and with any luck, we've hopefully averted disaster - I'll let you know.

    • @KylePancis
      @KylePancis  Před 3 lety +1

      Keep me posted! Sounds like the check valve needs to be replaced. Also check the oil pressure switch on back of engine. That can leak and drip onto exhaust making it smell worse than it is

    • @laurat1129
      @laurat1129 Před 3 lety +1

      Kyle Pancis A lil' embarassed, it was none of that...turns out some of the oil crud around the valve cover was from before my mechanic replaced the gasket, so no problems there. (Phew!) But since I had a PS fluid leak before I got the rack replaced, the original line finally burst from dry rot, fresh oil leaking underneath but spraying and getting cooked and burnt over other components. This explains why top-down driving around town, I was thinking: Wow, is everyone having BBQs tonight? Nope, just me and my car...ah, the power of denial.

    • @laurat1129
      @laurat1129 Před 3 lety +1

      No need for me to be embarrassed. Here's another update in case it helps someone else: As it turns out, there was an oil leak even AFTER the VCG was replaced. Why? Because the gasket was for another Saab, I guess, so it didn't quite fit mine. Thanks to your vids and others on YT, though, I can see how such a simple part can be tricky. (As I told my mechanic, it's like an arts & crafts project or baking a cake, but a LOT more important). Anyway, hopefully we'll get the right one on there and running a tight ship, no more leaks, soon.

    Hi Kyle!
    I am following all your Saab videos since long ago.
    It is the first time that I need your help to if you can read this for a moment!
    2002 Saab 9-5 2.3t, only one owner.
    Unfortunately my mechanic broke the oil pan and I bought a used oil pan in the netherlands 🇳🇱 from a reliable source, that was supposed to arrive clean.
    The engine was in perfect shape just before. Oil pump had been dropped, with synth oil with its filter renewed every 5K miles.
    Perfect compression numbers on each cylinder.
    1st problem, the oil "sucker" (inside the oil pan) had a bit of debris/rubbish.
    It was all dismantled again and cleaned with ultrasound tech.
    Now everything back together clean but the oil pressure is quite low!!
    He has talked to an old Saab mechanic and says debris could have gotten into the oil pump. He is dismantling the oil pump. Should any further precautions be done??
    I know the oil pump is different from 2003 - up but no idea if they ' re compatible !

    Hey man, my 2004 9-5 had the drive belt snap on the freeway, and I knew instantly it was the drive belt, and I flew off the freeway, and tried to stop asap, but 2 seconds before I shut the engine off, I heard a bloof sound, then the sound of water boiling, the water boiling being my coolant boiling, but the oil, it ended up all of the right side of my car, and at first I thought it was my power steering fluid, since the power steering was jammed, and I could barely turn the wheel. but no, it was my engine oil, all of it. My engine was bone dry. I did shut the engine off 2 second after the bloof that was it shooting out of... somewhere, and it kept leaking from the right of the engine for several minutes, so i don't think any part of the engine ran dry. But now I am wondering, what could have happened. why did the engine oil explode outwards, only on the right side of the engine, from the drivers perspective, and the leak for several minutes. Of course it happened because my drive belt snapped, but the engine only ran for about 60-70 seconds after it snapped
    Forgot to mention it's a 2.3t
